QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 8, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) Carlos Quentin = All Star He is my favorite hitter from an approach and talent point.
-
QUOTE (MAX @ May 8, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) Nice assumption, ass. Well you get that for showing up to the party late and running your trap.
-
QUOTE (MAX @ May 8, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Why is everybody in this thread crying?
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) I know these guys are veterans, but when NOBODY will take the ball the other way, it points directly at the approach that is emphasized by the hitting coach. Well just watch the game day pitching chart. About what 80% of the pitches are hovering over the outside part of the plate to each hitter. We see the approach, the scouts do as well and have a pitching plan to attack that approach.

QUOTE (zenryan @ May 8, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) remember the guy who made the thread calling out all the Crede naysayers?? looks like someone overreacted bigtime. That was the same person who wanted to throw what a 75 million dollar deal at Crede as well.
-
Maybe Swish can work on spending more time in the cage, instead of f***ing around with the Dirty Cat saloon, dolls, and pinking the beard. All the secondary stuff is great if you are playing half way decent.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) Dotel sucks. Ozzie handles Danks, like Manuel handled Garland.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ May 8, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) danks out already? 89 pitches? whats the deal Ozzie has a quicker hook on the young starting pitching, over the crappy hitters in the lineup.
-
Well that was a quick hook for Danks. Can't wait to take out our good starting pitching to put an arsonist in the game.
-
Well thank f***ing god they finally realized that Slowey is throwing 88 mph batting practice pitches up there.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) The Twins' s***ty hitters get hits (Everett), their great players get clutch hits (Mauer). We might as well blow up the team and have all no name players like the Twins. Our name players aren't s***. Wait till we draft a cheap stiff thats Chicago Tough, not on anyones radar in the June draft. I know Jimmy Falconstick isnt on your scout sheets. And that Moraine Valley Community college isnt where you usually find grade A talent. This kid isnt the athlete that Pedro Alvarez is, I know that he was on the board. But he isnt Chicago Tough like Jimmy. Jimmy hit .345 this year, and he had a game against Trinity Christian where he hit 4 home runs against the Trolls. Jimmy Falconstick already agreed to a deal, and will start in the rookie league. I remember telling Reiger we got our guy. He was still on the board.

Ozzie of course, has the bullpen up. Because Danks who only has given up 2 runs in this game, cant give anything more up. So we go into crazy mode.
-
QUOTE (G&T @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:18 PM) Offense only has 1 hit and suddenly the pitcher starts to struggle. Danks knows how big that run was. The pitching last year wasnt that bad in the first month, the bullpen pitched well in the first month. Then it all came apart when they had to basically pitch perfect.
-
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) Why Thome, Konekro and Dye are not the problem, ask Ozeroo. The problem is that Ozzie was a bad hitter who ran around, slapped the ball and played good defense. So his concept of a good offense might be a bit skewed.
-
And that will be the game. Sorry Danks, you gave up a run. You know you cant do that.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) But who would be on for Quentin? Hell, but Thome in the 2nd spot. Quentin to me projects to be a long term answer in the 3 hole. He walks, he gets deep in the count, he has power, and can hit for average.
-
We have one god damn hit, just one hit off of Slowely. This is sick.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) I hate the idea of Quentin in the 2nd spot. He should be batting 4th or 5th, because at least there's a slight chance Thome or Dye or AJP might get on. I really want AJP in the 2nd or 3rd spot. I would have Quentin in the 3 hole. Dye in the 4th, AJ in the 5th

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 8, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) Quintin with a sad little roller to third on the second pitch. Walker has gotten to him finally. Here comes the "meat" of the order. Thome making sure that shift is always working. Farmio and Stone really making sure we the listener know why Thome is sucking right now. Stone ripping on this team right now about the stupidity of the team and Konerko validates him nicely with a little looper to left to help Cuddyer get off the field first. Walker needs to be fired based on what Stoen is saying. Kenny stated that you can tell when Quentin was healthy he would crush the ball to right center, that his true power swing was to right center.
-
QUOTE (G&T @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) What is Walker's hitting philosophy? And don't just say "lift and pull." I mean, we all know what Coop's pitching philosophy is and what he preaches and it filters down the organization. He says it all the time. But has Walker ever said anything about his keys to hitting or what the approach should be? I think from what I see every hitter doing. Its clear your hips open, dip the back shoulder to elevate and play to the park effect. Swing hard in any count, and dont cut down on your swing at all.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 8, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) I'm not saying Farmer or Stone or right or wrong, I just know I've seen this team, save a week or two week stretch here and there, have the same awful approach over and over Its a simple pattern to dissect. They get a fastball over low and away for a quick strike. Outside of AJ and Uribe everyone takes a pitch. Then you start to either go a tad further away, or feature breaking pitches. And on full counts, and/or hitting counts features straight changes. Our hitters geek up for the hitters count and dont recognize the change too well. This is the Cy Joe Mays formula.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 8, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) Yeah I've listened to a number of games on the radio and Farmer and Stone are doing their critiques of the club by veiling it like that, ie what should be coming, what should be done. They have been a great listen Well if the announcers know whats coming, and know whats happening. Either the players are retarded, or the coaches are not preparing them. Maybe we can have them bring a Radio into the dugout, so they can get some insight on whats going to happen.
-
Steve Stone " Slowley is going to start Uribe off with a fastball away." Farmer " Are you calling pitches for him" Stone "Well you would figure that they would start discussing patterns on the bench."
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2008 -> 12:42 PM) In case you missed it, Slowey threw 4 straight 88 mph fastballs to Crede on the outside corner. First three were taken, and all should have been called strikes. Then, on the 1-2, Crede put a swing on it like he was protecting on a hit-and-run. Here it is.
-
QUOTE (G&T @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) Dye just got a straight fastball on a tee and grounded to SS. That's awesome. Greg is probably telling the team, that the center cut thigh high fastball with velocity are coming Just ignore the low and away attack, because only a few pitchers have figured it out . And pitchers dont throw junk anymore, its just a temporary condition seeing all these slow pitches.
