QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) From ESPN: After Konerko singled in the fifth, Joe Crede hit a drive into the left-field seats that third base umpire Eric Cooper ruled foul -- a call that drew an argument from Manuel. Don't listen to Hawk. Manuel argued. He just didn't get tossed. Evidently, getting tossed would have made a world of difference according to Hawk. I watched the game Dick. He came out of the dugout, asked a question then paraded back to the dugout. It was an argument in the same nature that Baines gets into an argument.

Crede was scratched, Ozuna to take his spot per Cowley. Ozuna Uribe Hall at the end sounds like a recipe for lots o runs. -

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ May 5, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) Good point... Can CQ bunt, or better yet will it be asked of him in this slot? Moving CQ up to the number 2 to have him bunt, or slap the ball to the right side to sac himself for a hit and run is baseball stupid. He is the best hitter on the team right now, and is hitting with power and has the best approach at the plate. If they f*** with him, by playing some silly 1950s National League baseball game then the whole lot of them need to collect unemployment. CQ should be up there for seeing more fastballs so he can crush them. He is a gap to gap hitter who has silly oppo power. He should be in the 3 hole over this, but I can see him seeing more fastballs in this spot. Just leave the kid alone, let him crush pitches, and reap the benefits of him seeing more ABs up in the lineup. -
I am still upset about the home run that was called foul a few years ago in Baltimore. When Sleepy Manuel stayed tucked in the dugout. It wasn't even close. The only way you called that ball foul, is if you are blind or are betting on the game, or the rules flipped and it was bizzaro baseball.

GTA IV pulls Jack Thompson out of woodwork again

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 5, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) Whoa, hold on. When you play these games, you are on audio with other people? Wow, I didn't even know you could do that. Most online video games now have a headset where you can talk to the players in a room, or to team members of your own team. It is real time communication. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 5, 2008 -> 12:23 PM) I think parents should make their kids read more books and play less video games. Parents don't encourage their children to read a lot. I make sure my kids are read to every night, we go to book stores and have them pick out books as well as go to the library. Being that said, video games are not the evil, or the bane of humanity. I have played video games from the time pong came out, to Atari 2600, Collecovision, Sega, you name it. I have had all sorts of video games. But they were age appropriate. My first person shooter gaming didnt start until I was in my 20s. I think that age appropriate problem solving video games can assist a young person with abstract thinking, hand eye coordination, and spatial recognition. But again, age appropriate is the key. My son plays PS2 with Sonic the Hedgehog and games of that ilk. He also has a Vsmile and plays educational problem solving games, that work on math, reading, and makes it fun. He is allowed to bring his portable Vsmile when we go out, so if we are at a resturaunt and their is a wait he can entertain himself. He plays his PS2 games 2 times a week. But as with most children, he loses interest in video games the minute we put the swings up in the backyard. He would rather be out in the backyard playing, that sitting in the house getting rings on Sonic anyday. -

The problem is not with the rating system, its with the fact that parents will buy their children games like this no matter what the rating based on the fact that Jimmy down the street has it as well. I play a lot of first person shooters. The graphics and violence in these games shouldn't be for children, but I can tell you that on XBOX live you will encounter 8 to 10 year olds playing the game at 2 to 4am on weekends. The kids are annoying to say the least, they ask dumb questions over and over, sing for no apparent reason, and talk non stop to the point where you have to mute them. I even had a mother get on the mic and yell at some of the people playing the game because they were cursing. I asked her, why is your son who is obviously under 12 playing this game at 3am. I got the dont tell me how to be a parent routine. Now there are boundary lines that shouldnt be crossed. Outside of the chuckle factor, I havent figured out hte purpose of the hookers in GTAIV. Simulated sex acts or not, there is no purpose in the game play. Video NSFW of the GTAIV Hooker. The simulate sex act + hooker cursing. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:25 AM) People like Jack Thompson are a much bigger problem than a violent video game. I like playing the video game. I am a 36 year old adult however. I play this game when everyone is sleeping, and I am in my soundproof basement. I would not however want my son to play it until he was 18. You know what the biggest problem is is not Jack Thompson, its when its 3am and you hear a squeaky voice of a child up playing this game. The parents of that child are the problem. -

QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 4, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) I love watching Halladay pitch. Today's will be a game that I simply sit back and enjoy. I just hope Contreras can match the Doc. Watching another pitcher work over my team makes me sick. I wonder if he was doing the same to your Atlanta Braves would you be so gleeful watching them work you over. I hope we put up a 7 spot and he exits the game in the 2nd inning. You can watch him in awe next time. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 3, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) He just pisses me off because he refuses to ever admit when there's a problem and joins in with Hawk in DJ in Cy Young-ifiying every pitcher that shuts the White Sox down. Well tomorrow we will face a real Cy Young type pitcher. Doc probably had an orgasm when he went over the scouting report. -
I could care less how much it costs, who the agent is, or what other excuse. I want the best prospect on the board when we select at number 8. I dont want to see a head scratcher, or a project, or a grinder type. I want a superstar. We have no 2nd round pick because of our class A free agent signing. Also do not sign Cabrera, off him arbitration so you can get the comp picks. And again, spend whatever money. Take the money you would waste on scrubs, and Uribe types and get some talent in our system.

7th in the AL in runs scored 9th in the AL with OBP, Last in BA with .237 Last in Hits 11th in doubles 13th in triples 1st in homers though. PFB's rant now is that firing Greg Walker might make it worse because they like him. Worse that the worst offense in the AL for over a year in a half? Really?

I forgot what a jackass PFB is. He just stated that God himself couldnt help out the sox hitters, so there is no reason to get rid of Walker. And that Quentin is doing good because of Walker. This apologist crap is crazy. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 3, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) We will win tomorrow. I'll be rooting in front of the TV. See you then. Sure because the corpseball kids will have the best thing for their bats to get going, a good dose of Doc Halladay. -
QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) I certainly hope you're not trying to insinuate Kenny won't fire Greg Walker. He's already fired two other guys in his tenure. Well Ozzie just came out and said he isnt firing Greg Walker. That he has vets and they dont need the hitting coach. if you dont need a hitting coach ozzie, then why are we having him stay around.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 3, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) There's a theater here that restricts sales to anyone under 13. They have only PG-13 or R rated movies there. No children under 13 are allowed in the theater. Even with parents. The "kids" theater is in another part of town. They charge like, 2 bucks more, but have nice surround sound and comfy chairs. So, the only annoyance is the occasional cell phone going off. The normal teenagers is one thing, I don't understand the toddler and baby phenomenon at the theater for the late night movie. I have been to midnight movies and have had people with babies and toddlers at the movies. This baby/toddler thing started about a year ago.

Attention you, the person who decides to bring a 3 month old little girl, and a 3 year old boy to the 10:30 showing of Iron Man on a Friday night. To make matters worse, the baby starts to cry during the movie. Do you walk out with the little girl. No, you let it scream telling it shush while you pass the popcorn. The 3 year old awakens from his slumber to start screaming at the end because of the big Iron monster on the screen scared him. What the f*** is wrong with you as a parent. What selfish drive do you have that you can't say, well if I cant get a baby sitter maybe I shouldn't go to the movie and ruin everyone elses time. I am a parent of two young children and I try to be very courteous of those around me who don't have children and are out to have a good time. If I cannot get a baby sitter, I stay home. When you have children your priorities change. The center of the universe stops being you. If something cool comes up and you dont have a baby sitter, maybe you sit it out. Its not fun, sure. But these are some of the responsibilities we share as parents. My only solitude tonight is that your child will most likely keep you up afraid of the big red monster shooting stuff from his hands. You the moronic kids who forget that this in fact is a movie, and that technology for real time interactive movies has not be developed yet. The images on that screen are 2D images projected from the rear of the movie theater. Notice the big white light from the back of the theater. So your yelling to move, duck or watch out behind you only annoy those around you. The characters on the screen cannot hear your warnings. In fact, they are actors and are not in real danger. And finally you, the person who doesnt plan for the premier weekend and shows up exactly as the movie starts. Do not come to my row and ask that I move to your seat 3 rows in front of the large screen so my neck can be sore for a month, just so you and your girly and your friends can sit together. I came to the movie theater an hour and a half before the movie started so I can get my killer seats exactly where I wanted them. Sorry you didnt plan accordingly. And please because you are wearing a cubs hat, and I am wearing a sox hat do you think that I am poor, and that you can bribe me for 5 bucks. I probably pay more in taxes than you make in a year cub fan, so f*** off and get me my TPS reports asshole Outside of that the movie was great.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) In the first week, we got shut down by Carmona, shut down by Westbrook, and were getting no hit by Dontrelle into the 5th inning. The other thing people are overlooking. Is when the starting pitcher left a game against the sox with a 6-0 lead, and we rally back against their version of Mike MacDougal ( lighting up Hawkins and Farnsworth ). The line looks good the next day however it doesnt tell the tale of how we had our ass handed to us the entire game.

Its time for Walker to go.

Instead of watching the walking corpse make another pitcher Cy Young, I made an executive decision to take my kids out and get Ice Cream. A much better decision.
