  1. Nice strikezone control there by Thome. that was Uribesque.
  2. Way to execute there. If the throw comes into home, they get him. But a lazy throw into 2nd. Then the trailer advances. Nice execution.
  3. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) The thing is, Dye, Iguchi and Contreras' value isn't getting any lower at this point. And all is quiet on the trade front, so it's really best to wait it out at this point. for Iguchi, how many teams need a 2nd baseman. The Mets had an injury. Outside of that. Dye can go for a bit, he has value. the minute someone gives you anything including a bag of balls, or strike that, one ball used for Contreras you take it.
  4. At this point, Dealer Kenny better be in rull trade negotiations for our tradeable players. Because waiting till the last possible moment is not a good thing. There are a few players like Hu and all that we should be targettting. Its okay to ask for 3 prospects, but you need to have a plan for what you think you will get back. You dont want teams to swoop in, undercut you, and take something valuable away from you. There is a rumor that Grudz from the Royals is moving over to the Mets. This is a mlbtraderumors probably bulls*** trade and all, but how many teams really need a 2nd baseman. Waiting until the last minute on the trade deadline, will get us an old team next week and 90 to 100 losses. I at least want to see some of the kids play this summer, so we can see what we have. I dont want to see Pods and Erstad and Dye and Gooch on this team, if they arent coming back next year.
  5. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) Or to hear Hawk say CY " Insert name" every time Sox offense sucks. I think Hawk actually died during the world series parade, and this is a robot. IF (INNINGS=4;HITS= GOTO PITCHING PITCHING: IF WALKS=>2;goto "TEACUP_AND_YELL" REPEAT 10 TIMES; GOTO UMPS IF SOX RUNS ECHO "GABNUBIT, AL KALINE, MERCY, STRETCH"
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 09:23 PM) I was about to post the same thing. Hawk is such an idiot and proves it more every game. His novelty act has worn off. Time for him to go. This new, full hillbilly mode has to stop. It was bad enough a few years back, that any fly ball is worth of a stretch. But now the fog horn leghorn routine is too much. He is Santo/Harry Carry with legs, and less drinking. I says, I says DJ. Have you seen another team go through so much bad luck. I remember this game back in "INSERT YEAR HERE", and it was against "INSERT TEAM HERE" and "Al Kaline, or INSERT BOSOX PLAYER HERE" was facing "Catfish hunter". It was amazing. This is the best team I have ever seen, to play so bad.
  7. The company retard line is on the tv tonight. DJ: It maybe time for Ozzie to think about moving someone into Jose's spot and maybe he can work out of the pen. Hawk: Who you going to replace him wit, HAR HAR Uh hawk, the season is done. How about Floyd, How about Haeger, how about anyone. Remember, next year we need to see how some of these players are going to play or if we need replacements. There is no point in sending Jose out there to get destroyed every game, just becuause you are familiar with him. DL him, and bring in some new blood.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) Well, right here, Ozzie is officially putting Jose's stats/feelings above that of the team. No way he should be pitching to Granderson. remember the quote after last game, about how Contreras is latin, and latin people are proud. Who the f*** cares how proud he is. You are, trying to get someone to take him off your hands. If he is sad, tell him to use the millions of dollars to comfort him.
  9. Byun Yung Contreras lighting the gun up at 88. Either he is hurt, or depressed.
  10. Mr. I swing for the fences everynight, finally connects into one. Yeah. I hope we trade Dye and get your replacement still.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) Holy cow...I don't know who's worse, Contreras or Floyd. These pitches are pathetic, and I'm so sick of watching Toby call pitches. Which one costs you over 10 million dollars. Its not even a comparison at this point.
  12. DL him. He wont be tradeable. 20 losses for this goof this year if he pitches through.
  13. I love it when our Cuban pitcher, is trying to emulate Shingo in his delivery.
  14. If Contreras doesnt get traded, then we need to give him an ultimatium. Jose, are you hurt. He will say no. Then tell him to throw over the top like he used to. When he hems and haws, tell him that in his next start, if he drops down and pitches sidearm we will put him on the DL and shut him down for a few weeks. That might motivate him enough, to get him throwing over the top again.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:12 PM) Preach on SSI....he should be embarassed by that mammoth homer he just allowed. To lefties he is over the top, and to the righties he is a sidearmer. If he can throw over the top to lefties, he can do it to righties. If he wants to on 2 strikes, throw a sweeper, go for it. But changing your motion depending on the hand someone was born with, is silly.
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:08 PM) I don't expect any trades to happen with the Braves. Schuerholz doesn't like KW-type GMs and besides, he's too responsible to deal away any significant prospects for a rental like Dye that he'd be an idiot to extend. Scheurholtz likes to work with people that have talented players he thinks can help him win. Thats who he likes to work with.
  17. Screw the sox for allowing Contreras to throw sidearm without forcing him to throw up. This side arm crap cant leave quick enough.
  18. So far its a good news Wednesday. JD is helping himself, hits a nice 3 run jack. The Brewers give up 3 prospects for a rental that isnt exactly pitching excellent. And Contreras has his forkball working pretty well. Hopefully by next week, we have some personnel moves, and we have a new SS named Hu or Escobar.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) 22 2/3 innings If we had Rowand in our lineup we would score 30 runs against Rodgers. And then his best friend Chuck Norris could go into undercover mode as SouthPaw and ninja kick the pine tar out of Rodgers hand. Ozzie better have at least 1 umpire check of Rogers's hand during tonights game.
  20. Lets hope for an awesome Contreras start, where he remembers to have his hand high, and no drop down. Here is to his fastball above 92, and his forkball dancing like a knuckler. If he can dominate tonight, it will give that glimmer of hope in some GM(Omar Minaya?) to take this guy on. /praying and hoping for a miracle for Contreras's value.
  21. Stark was on Mike and Mike after Onley and was asked about Konerko to the Angels. He said there are 2 people that are the face of the franchise and they were Konerko and Buerhle and they were both going no where.
  22. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:12 AM) As of right now, Floyd is a blowhard. However, 120 innings is not enough to make an assessment to banish a pitcher to AAAA status no matter how pissed we were last night. Floyd needs to throw his 93-94 mph 4 seamer more and get a little more giddy-up on the 2 seamer. On the 4 seamer, if he throws it more it will probably creep back to topping out at 96. I wonder if he is just learning the 2 seamer, because his velocity on it is so inconsistent. at times it was 86-88, other times it was 90-92, and if he is just learning it, then why did he rely on it so much last night against the best hitting team. He HAS to throw the curveball for strikes. I'd probably describe it as a 12-6 nightmare. If Floyd can find the control on his curve, and get consistent velocity on the 2 seamer, then he has a shot, and watch out AL. You realize that velocity is not everything. We play in a park conducive to home runs. That is probably why they are going to the 2 seamer over the 4 seamer. I think with two strikes, he should try to throw a chest high 4 seamer with some velocity on it. That would setup his curve.
