  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 10:21 AM) Buehrle's going to significantly decline over time, IMO, when he starts to lose a little velocity -- like last year. Not necessarily soon, but I have doubts about his staying power with his current arsenal. I do hope he believes he'll win much more than 200. I disagree with this. Marks issue late last year was not his velocity, it was more of command of his pitches. His velocity was the same in the first part of the season where he pitched decent. His command went south and he started to leave balls up. For Mark Buerhle to be successful, he needs to pound righties in with his cutter, and then go away. The cutter keeps the right handers honest about diving over the plate to hit the change and curve. When Mark cannot command his cutter, he has a problem. If he can keep his command, his velocity will be fine, and he will be an effective pitcher.
  2. For all on the Jenks velocity watch. He seems to be doing pretty well while not throwing 100 everytime. Dont you think. Gavin throwing strikes and getting his curve over is key. Richar keeps impressing.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) So, quite obviously, he is the greatest pictcher EVER. Does Eggy know you are cheating on him with these statements.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) WTF has gotten into Ryan Bukvich lately? Guillen had home depot drop off some applications for when he gets dfa'd the next time he sucks.
  5. Hawk giggling about Foghorn leghorn references. When Hawk pulled out the DAGGGGGUMMMMIT crap this year, he sealed his own fate for Foghorn Leghorndom.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) f***....I love having a shortstops arm at 2nd. Mix that with Iguchi's not so strong arm and wow...nice turn. Richar to me looks to be a future lead off guy, or number 2 hitter. He makes a lot of contact, so far hasnt shown a propensity to strike out. And he has the speed. This so far looks like a great trade from KW. i know people like Cunningham, and he might be great someday. But we have nothing in the minors for middle infield. Now if we can somehow matchup in the offseason for Hu from the Dodgers, our infield should be set for a long time.
  7. Grinderstad should of made that play, but would rather have the rookie try to make the over the shoulder attempt. Nice job brokenstad.
  8. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:34 PM) Any reason our hottest hitter, Dye, is out of this game? Just a scheduled day off or what? Seems to me we need to run him out there as well as he is swining the bat. This OF we have is certainly punch-and-judy stuff. ozzie wanted to have his wet dream OF all together.
  9. When you have a guy getting a good 12-6 curve over then he can later on use his four seamer high to either set up the pitch, or get someone cheating on the curve to commit for strike 3. So far so good for Gavin. Keep pitching in, and throwing strikes.
  10. Its hard to see why Polanco is one of my favorite hitters in the league. All of our non power types should watch him, and how he approaches the plate and try to be him.
  11. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) LOL. I would like to see a side-by-side shot of him and Casey running. At least he has some pretty decent speed though. Did anyone hear the exchange last night with Hawk and DJ, when DJ made a comment about Casey running. Hawk got all bent out of shape, saying he was ashamed of DJ. LOL
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) I have to laugh at the posters that say Gavin has "zero stuff" He needs to learn how to be a "pitcher", but the stuff is there. The stuff is there. All he needs to do is throw it for strikes and the rest will work itself out.
  13. Hell of a first inning for Gavin. Freezes Maggs with the big breaker.
  14. Hawk just called Tata's performance in the top of the first as "one of the most impressive first inning performances" he has seen for a young pitcher. Hawk just needs to retire. This crap is too much.
  15. Grinderstad strikes out almost as quickly as he gets injured. Oh great, Hawk is starting the, Cy Youngification of Tata.
  16. Hawk is doing a nice PR job on Uribe. How we know what we got. How he is a great defensive SS, and he can drive in a lot of runs. And we have more problems than a Juan Uribe. This after Juan strikes out on a pitch that was neck high on the outside corner.
  17. QUOTE(AirScott @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) C'mon.....you forgot the best one... MOOSE SKOWRON! His guest appearance in the booth a few years back made for excellent television. Funny stuff. Moose sounds exactly like Grandpa Munster.
  18. I wonder if Hawk realizes that there were more than the 7 or so baseball players that played during his era.
  19. I wonder what quantity of those eye drops for IROID are saline solution, and how much of it is the creme and the clear.
  20. Someone needs to choke the opera guy hot dog salesman.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) Slugfest night. Contreras debut out of the pen tonight? For those sick of Floyd, I got this in an email about Egbert tonight. Have you figured out where you are going to frame the "keepsake" first pitch panoramic shot that you get when Eggy gets called up.
  22. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) this team is scary if this offense keeps clicking and the bullpen finds remnants of success from guys like macD and thornton It would of been better if they all decided not to suck for most of the year.
  23. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) I suppose that could be the reality of it, unofrtunately. If they could do what Cleveland did in 2005, except finish, that would be a miracle. How many teams did Cleveland have to jump in 05. They just got absolutely pummelled in a 3 game series with the Yanks. We win one game, and have a good start in another and we get silly, the fuse is lit crap. Its one thing to be optimistic, its another to have lost contact with reality. We are talking about near 800 ball for the rest of the year to possibly win.
  24. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) Yeah. So what does that have to do with it? If they continue to play like this, they do have a chance. If they play like they currently are, giving up runs with 2 outs and nobody on, then they don't. The only chance they have is to fend off the Royals and maybe catch the Twins. Thats about it.
  25. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 09:02 PM) was Juan blowing a bubble when he was throwing that? The bubble wasnt the problem. It was the shank of ham that fell out of his pant leg when he caught it.
