QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) Get AJ out of the 5 spot How about putting Dye up in the 5th spot, and drop AJ down a bit. At least Dye will look at a pitch before he blows his nut swinging for the fence like AJ.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) Andy freaking Gonzalez as the leadoff hitter... this team is so full of it if they actually think they still have a shot. Ozzie and his toys. He takes a pile of poo and decides that if he sprinkles the poo all over the field, it becomes fairy dust.

Remember not to let the Flag waving, kazoo playing, cowbell ringing, drum banging, air horn playing freak show that is Oakland put you off. Hopefully our players watch their backs, and watch for flying batteries. If we can score some runs, we should win the series.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) Just today my computer has begun to restart itself every few minutes. When it comes back on, it says that windows has recovered from a serious error. I've tried to follow the "file a report" thing to see what suggestions they have for fixing the problem, and it mentions things downloaded recently may affect it, etc. I have not installed any new programs recently, so this seems pretty random. It also mentions restoring the system/drive or something. I'm not computer savvy at all and am hoping for some help here. Summary: Computer keeps randomly restarting itself pretty frequently. Windows says it has recovered from a serious error each time it comes back. Thanks in advance for the help. You may want to check your machine for a virus/malware/trojan. Update your Antivirus, and if you are not using AV(shame on you), then go and download AVG as its free. They also have a antispyware free software. Remember with spyware, the more detection and removal utilities the better. In the antivirus community they companies share signatures and detects. However in the spyware its more competitive and they don't share. This means that you get only a segment of the detects in a product. Here are a few other free products. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) Home runs=Bad? Opposite Field singles=Good? You can take your singles, I'll take the HR. Hell I love opposite field singles as much as anyone. But you still need thumpers in the middle. To me the perfect lineup, has a mix of a few speed guys hopefully who can take pitches, walk, get on base, your middle of the order thumpers, a line drive doubles guy behind the thumpers would be nice, and then some of the oppo types. You get too much of one thing, and the team gets shut down. You need a mix.

So we can pick either a guy who was the WS MVP, and had an MVP season last year. Has a history of producing. Or a guy who projected to be a 4th OF, and hit well this year and pretty much this year only. Now I know, one guys smashes his face into walls and all and that is pretty nifty. But I will have to side with the slugger who makes the team dangerous. Dye

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 11:28 PM) http://blog.mlive.com/tigersinsider/2007/0...llo_to_rec.html :sigh I'm trying to think of what to type, I really don't know what to say. Insert the obligatory "the Tigers certainly aren't afraid of going over slot" statement, or something like that... I cant wait till next years draft / excuses on why we pass up top tier talent and go the cheap route. We should have a top 10 draft next year. Whomever is the best talent should be the person we pick. But alas, we will get some guy who got hot in the last 2 weeks of the season or a guy who is signable only. Just remember when this kid is dominating, we passed on him.

I saw the Manu - Reading match. Reading decided to play for the point on the road, and just bunkered down. Now this usually doesnt work, because Manu attacks in waves and has some of the better close quarter passing in the EPL. What Reading did however, was to make sure that anywhere from the 25 yards and out, the minute Ronaldo got close they doubled him up and tried to keep him out on the flank. As Ronaldo goes, so does Manu. Rooney is a great finisher, and a brute with his size. But on the ball he doesnt have the creativity to break down multiple attackers. Ronaldo in space can. The Tevez move might seem like a move of the rich, but its a move of necessity. Giggs and Scholes who provide some balance on the attack are getting old. Giggs is a step slower, and his shot selection over the last year has been poor. Alan Smith is not the answer, and Saha or Fletcher isnt as well. They should pair up Tevez with Rooney up top, and have Ronaldo as the attacking mid to be the play maker. It would make a big difference in their scoring capabilities. Ronaldo can break down the defense, and have it collapse on him, while Tevez and Rooney break on goal. The one thing that Marcus did in goal against Manu was to keep the rebounds to a minimum. Manu is a opportunistic offense, they crash on goal, and have a hard strike that usually gets blocked by the goallie by gets kicked out to a runner for he put back. To me, its going to be an interesting race. In the SPL, not so much of a race as the Bhoys will take home the league once again. -
QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) I will be setting up a new home network and started reviewing routers. I am leaning towards a Wireless-N and noticed that they are offering ones that will allow a USB hard drive to hook in. Nothing I am planning on using now. I also am looking at a wire less print sharing hookup. Basically it will be in a 1,000 sq foot duplex with two laptops and possibly a Linux based desktop. The two desktops are running VISTA and XP. The internet link will most likely be via cable, but possibly DSL. The only thing you have to worry about with N right now is interoperability. N is not a set standard like A/B/G. It should be a standard soon. Now the good news, is that most of the Pre-N products are software upgradeable and follow the proposed standard for most of the way. With the MIMO technology you should get better penetration with your wireless signal as well as greater speed. DLink, Apple, and Linksys are all pretty good bets from the Pre-N router standpoint. One thing that I have deployed at my house, is powerline ethernet. Using the power backbone of my house as a conduit for LAN traffic. I have a Cisco switch in my attic that feeds my 2nd floor network runs, and the trunk feeds off of a powerline ethernet feed. As long as they are behind the same electrical meter you can communicate.

The guy is becoming a pitcher in the closers role. And that makes him pretty damn dangerous for the opposition. Congrats to the Big Guy on this great accomplishment. His WHIP for the season is under 1, and his second half WHIP is .38.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) This is comical. When Jeff Weaver is making your team look this bad then you know you have problems. Pathetic...this is insanely pathetic. JEFF WEAVER????? Arm angles, and 100 mph on the black will kill you. We are lucky to have scratched out 2 hits against the Krakon. -

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) Alex Cintron...Great veteran AB there. Add him the DFA wish list. We had too many Left handed bats, so we trade Mack who can hit, and we keep Cintron who cant. What in the name of god is the reasoning for it. It cant be the return we got. -

Now Suzuki, climbed up on the fence on a ball like that a few games ago and would of made that catch. Our guys get to the wall in time, look at the wall and figure why make the effort. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 01:51 PM) Told my dad this in the first inning. Finally threw one to Ibanez. Sheesh. His changeup is a difference maker to the right handed hitters. It really takes them off of his fastball. Once he learns a cutter, he can then keep the righties off the plate from lunging over it to cheat on the outside pitch. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) Got back in town today, just in time to see Danks continue to struggle. I hadn't noticed this in a few weeks, but McCarthy's ERA is now well below that of Danks. He went 6 last week against Cleveland and gave up 4 hits and 2 runs. He should of only given up a run this inning, however one of Ozzies guys cant field a simple ball hit to him. -

He might not be throwing 100, but Bobby is becoming a more complete closer. If he ever gets his triple digits again, it just wont be fair to the hitters. Just have yourself a day Josh Fields. Nice job Kid. Nice job Vazquez. And nice job Pen overall.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) I normally respect you but you're acting like an ass. So he has a lack of "leadership" for being injured? Uribe has very few cluth hits this year, if many hiyts at ALL worth noting. Erstad has done it most of the time he's played. Erstad's defense has been solid this year. Uribe's has slumped. Tallest midget contest. Uribe sucks, and Erstad is about as dependable as Wood and Prior. -

Prancer almost decided to come in on that ball, then he remembered that if he hits the ground, he shatters. Cant upset the legions of 13 year old girls in attendance for his fairwell series.
