  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 12:48 AM) I assume a pitcher will be sent down to make room for the man with the very silly name. Mark Buehrle Ryan Bukvich Jose Contreras John Danks Gavin Floyd Jon Garland Bobby Jenks Boone Logan Mike MacDougal Matt Thornton Javier Vazquez Ehren Wassermann So I guess Floyd is the obvious choice to go. This is seriously f***ing retarded. I still am trying to get my arms around why we would sign a 38 year old LOOGY who cant get lefties out. This on the 5th place team in August. Is loogy such a pressing need. The rest of this year should be devoted to finding out who can play at this level. With Grinder and Pods playing so much, you have to believe that they will be back.
  2. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) Here is an idea, lets put the starters thru more innings in the preseason to replicate the burnout felt in 2006. Also have Hall play 1B again, and any new player play out of position to acclimate them to their current position. Lastly, have Anderson tear it up in the preseason only to be beat out by Julio Franco/Ricky Henderson/Rafael Palmiero for the starting Centerfielder job. Then sign 38 year old loogy's who cant get lefties out.
  3. So who is getting sent down to make room for our new old loogy who cant get lefties out. Ozzie Baker gets a veteran. Guess which appendage he will come into face late in the game. More toys for the appendage aware manager.
  4. How many Loogy's does one team need. This move makes no sense what so ever.
  5. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) Injury? His fastball is not where it should be When a pitcher tells you he has a knott in his shoulder for a month its probably not a good thing.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) We have four slap hitters in our lineup today.....how sad is that? Well Greg is working with Thome so all will be well shortly. Maybe they lined up Jim's cards and flipped them over and reminded him he could hit. I wonder if the Top Deck corporation realizes this new scouting method. Flipping cards.
  7. Maybe the extra helpings at the buffet kept him from running down the line fast. Wait till he becomes Jabba the Hut when the 5 million dollar option is picked up.
  8. QUOTE(max power @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 06:14 AM) I think a lot of people here are happy about it. Not me. I don't really give a s*** about a top ten draft pick. At this point if you are going to suck, at least get a superstar out of it. The last time we sucked like this we picked up Ventura, McDowell and Big Frank. That seemed to work out for us. Those were top ten picks.
  9. You have to love a 100 million dollar team that is in 5th place at this point of the year, and no one has been canned outside of a scouting director. Meanwhile a 3rd baseman top prospect has come to the big leagues without learning the basics of how to play the position. The range I can deal with. Its the lack of instinct or process on simple ground balls. He doesnt know whether to charge or not and lets the ball play him. Then again this is the same organization that has a hole in every hitters swing low and away when they come up. The instruction our minor leagues get is probably on par with the ones that the little league world series kids get these days.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) Okay, so a small part of me wanted Ichiro to catch that ball. That probably would've been the catch of the year. Well they have a CF who scales walls, we have a LF who bounces balls off of his head. Now on the small ball side of the world. Watching Ichiro drag bunt is a thing of beauty. You would think that with Guillens propensity to call for a silly bunt here and there that someone would of taught a simple drag bunt. Everyone on our team just bunts the ball right back to the pitcher. I would love to see Richar drag bunt a few times.
  11. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) I've been aboard the draft-pick wagon for quite awhile. Ultimately, what's the difference between 70 and 80 wins when it's obvious your team isn't going to contend for a playoff spot? Do fans care whether the team ends with a .500 record? May as well sit back, enjoy bad baseball, and hope entering next June the White Sox and their amateur scouting staff take advantage of their position to select a talented player. Yes, Santo, there's no guarantee our position lands us Tim Lincecum or another potential All-Star. My belief is, you atleast want the opportunity to scout a larger collection of players. Selecting at #25, you're not going to expect many players to drop. We haven't had that luxury (if you look at it that way) in over fifteen years. If our first round selections would have been more successful I may suggest a higher slot doesn't matter. But it's obvious we could use every advantage afforded to us. Well from the barren wasteland of the late 80s, those top ten draft picks brought us guys like McDowell, Ventura and Thomas. We also picked up Fernadez and a few others with our lower draft position. I will just be pissed as all hell if we cheap it out. We need to find either a legitamate ace with upper 90s dominating stuff, or a stud position player that can be inserted in 2 years. Notice Mr. Maybin who jacked a dong off of Roger today as the type of impact. I dont want someone that will take 5 years to sniff the majors.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 10:48 PM) Hey, I'll gladly take last place -- give me that higher draft pick. I believe we're currently 5th or 6th worst in all of baseball. There's no way we finish the worst in all of baseball -- Tampa Bay is just too bad -- but all of the other teams behind us are in striking distance. There's a reasonably good chance the Sox get a top five pick next season. You know how thats going to work. We get the top five pick and select some signable chap we could of had at 26. We will see our guys high fiving to pass the charade off that even though X impact player represented by boras was available, unknown player was really our target. signability over talent is our motto.
  13. Wasserman is having a meltdown ala Boone from last year. Not backing up plays, throwing wild pitches, throwing meatballs.
  14. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) This team has one of the 4 or 5 worst records in baseball and its an old team. It's one thing to be Kansas City breaking in kids like Teahen, Gordon, Butler, Buck and sucking...its another thing to be sucking with a bunch of broken down geezers. I want an entire house-cleaning. If Dye leaves then I would like an entirely new outfield and a new SS....we can survive with PK, AJP, Crede/Fields, Richar/Borgeous, and most of our pitching. It's the outfield that sucks ass. Kansas City with all of their kids scored more runs that us this season. Also their pitching staff has let up less runs.
  15. Seattle fans think they are at an MLS game with the Ole Ole Ole chants. Hell when Oakland plays Seattle it must be a musical hoot.
  16. Any reason besides insanity that Contreras is still out there.
  17. Who the f*** told our power hitting 3rd baseman to bunt. Moronball there.
  18. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) 67 degrees in Seattle according to yahoo. Maybe we can burn some baseball cards for heat. Next year they better not flip those cards, scary things will be glaring back at them.
  19. Does anyone know if its unseasonably cold on the West Coast. Our hitting has dropped off quite a bit and I want to make sure that we dont hear about how cold it is and how they cant hit in the cold.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) Or a juicer from the Orioles The juicer would still provide better O that Uribe+40 year old former Indians + Pixie. I would rather trade Garland off to the Dodgers for a package surrounding Hu.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 10:36 PM) I don't think he'll be back, especially after KW's comments the other day about OBP. His replacment then will either be a 40+ year old SS who used to play for Cleveland or a Pixie who plays SS for the Cardinals.
  22. You all realize that our fat shortstop will be back putting up a sub 300 OBP, sub 240 BA, and with worse defense due to the face that 5 million dollar options buy a s***load of doublemeat on the footlong subs he will be packing away like they are White Castles.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) Well.....check out the quote by Ozzie about not using young kids. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Ozzie Baker
