  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 12:33 AM) I want to point out that I'm in the minority but I still say f*** the pick. I'm happy with any top 10 pick and I always feel its more important to win (that even sticks in the NFL when your playing for the #1 overall draft pick). I believe winning always makes things better (even when you flat out suck) and you notice that those teams that perennially get the top pick still find ways to suck year in year out (and it isn't because of a lack of talent...yes its cause of horrid decisions but bottom line the #1 picks are typically no brainers anyway). Yes I"d love Pedro Alvarez but I also see a lot of value in the taem winning games (even if meaningless). If it means we are winning because Floyd has a great start or PK has a 3 HR game than so be it. I don't ever want players not playing 100% and playing to win because as soon as you start to lose that winning attitude than your organization will be mired in losing for a long long time (and no I don't claim that teams playing to lose...I think 99% of all players always want to win...but there is always the Boston Celtics phenomena). Now if the club just sucks and we get the #1 pick, than fine...hopefully the club takes advantage of it. I'll always look at that as a blessing in disguise, but winning should still be the #1 priority (albeit you should be getting those wins by developing your players...and right now the Sox HAVE been doing that...ie Logan, Fields, Owens, Richar, Floyd, Danks). The rest of this season should be nothing more than open tryouts. I want to see all of the kids playing, and get them experience. That is the silver lining for me. The last time we had this type of pick, we picked up a few impact type players that meant a lot for this organization. I am jacked to think that we can get an impact type guy that can help us out for a long time.
  2. Come on Rally Cap time, 62 is in our sights. All 10 fans get up out of their chairs. ITS GRINDERSTAD TIME. WOOOOOO
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 12:14 AM) Man, I feel sorry for Greg. He's going to wake up tomorrow in a poor mood after he finds out the White Sox lost. Win #62 means something special to him. And the best quote from a drunken fan. Hey Cleveland, our WNBA team is so much better than your WNBA team. LOL
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 12:12 AM) That Broadway fastball is just so mediocre. I think we just saw the fastest 91 mph fastball in baseball, and the softest 89 mph fastball in baseball. His changeup also seems incredibly mediocre. Dont worry, he is a polished college pitcher on the fast track.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 12:05 AM) So Flash, are you as thrilled as I am that when finishing off a horrible season and eliminated from the playoffs.....the reliever getting the most experience on the Sox is almost 40 years old? It's amazing how awful every single thing about this baseball season has been. Or that Erstad is a shadow starter. Or that Greg is still employed. Or that Cintron plays too much. Or that Andy Gonzales is still out there too much. Or that other guys in AAA with Frenchlike last names cant make it up here, yet crap on a stick is put out there every day.
  6. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 12:04 AM) Betencourt is throwing 91 mph fastballs. 91!! and we are missing like he's throwing 101. I hope that the gun is f***ed up. When one aims for the Dan Ryan, one misses a lot of fastballs down the cock.
  7. Josh Fields has a long swing, Dont worry, Greg isnt working on it. He is leaving that for next year.
  8. 3 hit attack against the Indians. Wow this team can hit.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) Kenny Lofton walks into 2nd base while the Sox are appealing a play at 3rd base.....is this f***ing Little League? I hate how DJ tries to make an excuse for Erstad whenever he messes up (which is quite often). It would be better TV if both of them got liquored up during the delay. Having Hawk slurring yelling at the fans, at Guillen telling the players they suck. That would be funny. DJ picking fights with Hawk, maybe a scuffle.
  10. The bewitching hour, the hour that the baseball retarded come out to practice their craft.
  11. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) You can distinctly hear each individual fan clapping/cheering And the dumbass fan who wants to start the wave with 10 people in the stadium.
  12. Was it really necessary to restart this game.
  13. The musical mystique from Wing of Southpark(the real life version).
  14. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) I'm simply saying that Fields made a terrible throw on that ball. He bounced it to Gonzalez from medium left field. Because of his inexperience in left field, he looked bad. Different throwing motion from left field than third base. If he is going to play lfield next season, which seems likely, he's going to need a lot of work out there. having him in left and owens in center, teams are going to run, run, run on us. Pulling a wet ball out of your wet mitt and then making a relay throw is a bit harder than you think. If it was dry and he screwed the pooch sure give him hell. But when it is raining. Andy however not making the relay was just baseball dumb.
  15. Gavin pitched well. Then death by pen came in to put it out of reach.
  16. I find it funny that Richar was making contact with everything. Then all of a sudden he started hitting with power, and his K's went up. I wonder why that is. I would rather keep Richar and get someone who can help him and the rest of the team put better ABs together. The kid has the tools. Just the instruction might be lacking.
  17. Thats okay. According to the deported famous illegal, its our fault.
  18. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) Kid Rock is wanted by Las Vegas police after punching Tommy Lee.
  19. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 09:16 AM) Did anyone else watch this last night? It's a realistic view of marriage, almost too realistic, but the shocking part was obviously the graphic sexual content. I have to say I was shocked at how far they took it... The porn show is already talked about in this thread.
  20. Greg, In 1986 we won 72 games. Now I am sure that you would of liked them to win 80. It would of made you feel great. But the following year we drafted Jack McDowell. What was worth more for the sox, the 8 more wins or the pick of McDowell., we drafted Jack McDowell. In 1987 we won 77 games. Now a few more and we are .500. The following year we drafted Robin Ventura. Now the .500 season would of put a smile on your face, and you could of went crazy. But Robin seemed to have a bigger impact over the long haul. In 1988 we won 71 games, now again .500 would of put that skip in your step. But then again would of Frank Thomas been there. Was the few more wins worth the future HOF player. In 1989 we won 69 games, now again that .500 mark would of make you giddy. But getting a pitcher of Alex Fernandez's stature seemed to help out more than anything.
  21. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 01:08 AM) How bout Torii Hunter and trade for a ss and acquire a veteran set up guy. That won't improve us? Torii hunter is going to cost a lot in money and in years. Do you see the sox going 6 years and 17 million per. On the more money front, Renteria and Furcal are pretty damn costly. 11 to 13 mill a year. The only way those two are added is if a Konerko and Garland are moved. What does that do to your team. And who is this vet setup guy that will be available for what again.
  22. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 12:55 AM) I could care less if we pick 2 or 10. I want to win every game, then sign free agents in the offseason. I could give a s*** about draft picks. The day I root against the White Sox is the day I hope I'm dead. Is that clear enough? If you want to celebrate the White Sox losing, good for you. Take a look at our payroll for next year. And then tell me about all of the lovely free agents we will be signing. If you think that a few meaningless wins at the end of a horrible season matter more than an impact pick that can help the franchise over a long period time win, then I cant make you understand. If we have to deal with the torture of this season, we might as well get something that can help the franchise for a long time. The Venturas, Thomas's, McDowells, and Fernandez's were the byproduct of crappy seasons like this. Now would you have rather had a few more wins, and no Frank Thomas or Robin Ventura, or McDowell.
  23. Wait till they do that, and some boyfriend/husband caves in their face. Maybe they can youtube the re-constructive surgery.
