QUOTE(Linnwood @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) f*** Mike MacDougal in the ear. I am so glad we picked up a 38 year old pile of crap that cant get lefties out, yet Boone Logan only comes in to mop it up after it went astray. Myers versus lefties .318BAA Logan versus lefties .208BAA * Real Loogy and not some old soon to be retired crap. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) I think they had him do that, to try to cut down on the Tasmanian Devil thing. Harder to do a pirouette in a wide stance. Hrniak had him do a leg kick thing that worked in 05. it kept him closed and helped him step towards the pitchers plate. Since that worked, we have tried a spread stance, nothing, and now opening it up. why do something that worked. -

Why when you have a super pull hitter like Uribe, would you allow him to open his stance up. Thats like putting out a fire with gasoline. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 06:39 PM) Picking one bad guy out of this line up is like taking one bad guy out of Congress. As long as that bad guy doesnt have his option picked up, and then is named a starter in CF next year out of ST. Then it doesnt matter. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) Erstad? After seeing the ABs by Pauly, JD, and AJ, why would you worry about what Darrin did? Pauly is on the bench. Tell me what purpose Darrin has on this team besides keeping a few of our DL members company a few times a year. Erstad is a goddamn shadow starter. Ozzie puts him out there every single night, and rotates players out so he can get one of his toys in the lineup. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 06:31 PM) Richar just isn't ready for the majors....shocking, I know. Notice his power numbers have went up, and his strikeouts have went up the longer he has been here. You give him a decent hitting coach and they can work with him. -

Why in the name of god must Ozzie put Erstad in the lineup every f***ing day. Sprinkling crap on the field, it still smells like crap. -

Nice Job guys, bases loaded no outs, and Dye, AJ and Ozzies Toy strike out. Only the f***ing sox can do this. -
QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) Since this thread has comfortably morphed into the team's need for an inspirational influence, I am surprised that no-one has brought up the possible return old blood and guts .......... Aaron Rowand. Mr Inspiration plays in a league that makes Willie Harris look like a superstar. Where Ted Lilly looks like Johan. The last time the passion and the grinder was on the southside in a pennant race, he hit .235 and .245 in August and September and decided not to bring is bat to the playoffs But then again, this was before he slammed his grill into the fence, broke his nose and became ESPNs cute little grinder posterboy. I still remember, Bobby Jenks on the mound, the Indians sweating down our backs, flyball to centerfield, Rowand breaks back, uh oh it was a shallow hit ball. It bounces in front of the grinder. Not quite the grand defensive stud that laid himself out in Yankee stadium. I cant wait till some foolish team gives him the large money contract over a 4 to 5 year stint based on one year of hitting in a weak NL. If he goes back to the AL, he will be back to swinging at sliders in the opposing batters box.

We F****** SUCK: Game Three in Texas

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) Am I the only one who is blown away by the way some Sox fans talk about inexperienced rookies? I wonder what people would be saying about Chase Utley if he had started his career here. His first 86 major league ABs weren't any better than Richar's: .221/.277/.337.614. The best part is that with the season so lost, this is the perfect time to let the rookies play, take their lumps, and learn against major league pitching. A luxury really, considering. Yet with have the myopic win now crowd who cant live this. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. I could care less if we win another game for the rest of the year as long as this experience can help our rookies become major leaguers to help us in the upcoming years. Maybe some of our people should take a gander at that commited salary chart you have in your sig that may shed light on the expenditures of next year. This unlimited xbox money crap is beyond me. -
QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) Name one team in baseball that uses 2 months as a tryout for next year or the future. It's a ridiculous philosophy. You play the best players to win. In the offseason if you are a good organization or a bad organization that gets lucky, you acquire some free agents (like Soriano, not Erstad; I hate to compare us to the Cubs). A 2 month tryout is an insult to Sox fans who might want to spend a nice night at the park and try to win a few games or watch some games on TV and not have to puke because Fields is getting a tryout in left and some hack is at third. And some prospect like Richar is making outs at a ridiculous rate. Teams in our position are the ones who use the last part of the season as a open tryout. Trying to win at all costs to the point where it retards your future is myopic and foolish. You let the kids play, and you see what you have.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) The 24 year old rookie with less than 90 career ABs. Well Richar is no Aaron Guiel you realize. -
QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) something needs to be said about how Aaron Rowand's attitude, character, team leadership, will to win & charisma has energized the Phillies clubhouse, fanbase, talk radio, and level of play. something else tells me that this subject topic is exactly the message that Aaron Rowand would really like to convey to you HATERS. lets just say that i said it for him. HA HA HA! HA HA HA would be for the team that over pays the 4th OF for his career year in a weak NL.

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:33 PM) Venture was a golden spike award winner with a record hitting streak in college and Sox knew he would hit, Richar just floating around in Arizona system and traded because Arizona had no place for him. What the hell has he done to deserve any optimism besides being a cheap option for KW at 2nd base in 2008? The golden spike awards translates to hitting at the major leagues? Someone should get into a time machine and remind Travis Lee and Mike Kelly about this as well. Maybe we can give a prospect 500 or so ABs before we toss him to the woodpile. You realize that Golden Spikes winner Alex Gordon, the overall top minor league guy last year struggled. Richie Weeks another Golden spikes winner struggled as well and was sent back to the minors earlier this year. This season is over, lets see if Richar or any of the others can learn on the job right now. Maybe he sucks, who knows. But lets see over a larger sample size.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) We are going to get such a sick draft pick next year. This is exactly what we need. Alvarez would be sweet.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:29 PM) How many former White Sox just beat up on the White Sox? I realize Sosa played for the team a long time ago ... but wow. When will this nightmare end? All the Sox do is lose. Well if you are going to suck, you want to suck in style. Lets be the best at being bad. Lets get the number 1 pick. People who are living and dying on every pitch still this year, need a reality check. This is 2008 Early ST. And that is it.

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) To compare the struggles of Richar to Ventura is not even in the same ballpark! Get Real. In his first 45 AB he batted .178, he followed that up with a .249 return over the season the following year. So what ballpark are you talking about. Lets not act like Ventura came up and hit at all. You had Richar the first year, and a less powerful Josh Fields the next year.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:12 PM) i'm shocked that the white sox bullpen is on the verge of recording another loss. The 5 hit attack over 11 innings from Greg Walker's warriors was another bright spot, but at least we got shut down by a stud pitcher who throws 101 from 8 arm angles hits it on the black.
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) Richar brings nothing to the table I agree with you on him! I love it when people s*** a player to death because they arent hitting after only 85 ABs. Thank god this wasnt around when Ventura was out there fumbling with the stick when he came up. You would of wanted him gone as well.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) Now why is that Greg? Because of the two games you have seen him play in LF? Fields, IMO is athletic enough to pick up LF and play fairly decent defense.... Greg must of missed when El Caballo moved to LF.

Happy Birthday Slav. Good luck at school this year, and make sure you dont do anything we told you to do in chat over the years and you should be fine.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) Just throwing this out there... over a full season he'd be on pace for 200+ K's. I will take the strikeouts over having Prancer and Grinderstad out in left.
-
QUOTE(Jeremy @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 11:03 AM) Doesn't hurt to try anything this season but this is the first I've heard about concerns with Fields' defense at 3B. His metrics are good. His bat won't translate nearly as well to a corner outfield spot (though it will be an improvement on Pods). How doesn't hit bat translate well enough. He is on pace to hit 20 to 30 homers over a full season. The last time we had that type of production in Left it was Carlos Lee.
