  1. Nice day for the offense. Great day for the tradeables. The bullpen outside of Thornton and Jenks looked like crap. Nice win.
  2. A 9-2 game, and Bobby will have to get up. We always have to have someone s*** the bed.
  3. Hopefully Kenny sees this for what it is, a glorious event of our hitters starting to come together at the right time. So we can trade a few of them, and restock the system. Hopefully he isnt the hope against logic, and thinks that this team can play 35 over 500 ball to win the division. I keep hearing everyone with the sox talking about making a run. Hopefully that is just a bluff, and the only run we are making is our scouts looking at whatever is out there for what talent we have.
  4. What's the remote possibility that he is being showcased for some upcoming trades.
  5. I am okay with Haeger coming up. But what doesnt make sense is why Massett is still up here, because they fill a similiar role. They should send down Masset and have him focus on what he is best at, and that is starting. Build him up, and get his arm stretched out. Then call Richar up and see what we have there.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) Please provide me a link that states your claim. And don't give me one of your "I don't have time right now but I'm sure I read it somewhere" excuses. Well you must of forgot the part where Conyers was holding "mock" impeachment hearings. When you go through the effort of having a dry run at impeachment, what is your intent. Its make believe time children. 36 US House Reps want Bush Impeachment H. Res 635
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 11, 2007 -> 01:31 PM) Piece of cake. We have studs like Jerry Owens, Ryan Bukvich, Alex Cintron, Juan Uribe, and Toby Hall. AL Central watch out!! The fuse is lit.
  8. 56-20 is what we will need to get 95 wins. 36 games over .500 for the rest of the season. LOL
  9. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) Question: does anyone think the distraction of Buehrle contract talks have contributed to the recent stretch of good play by the sox? Despite the popular notion that distractions like this can hurt a team, I feel like it took the focus off a dismal performance and maybe even some of the pressure. Curious to hear what others think. That or it could be that we played the Devil Rays and the Royals.
  10. Jim Rome impersonation and a bonus Drew Rosenhaus impersonation doing the robot at the end.
  11. I say start over, clean slate and get this puppy humming. Trying to keep tainted data, and possible corruption in the database will be something you guys will need a ton of hardware to throw at to fix. The archive will give everyone the historical reference point for older posts. wipe it clean, start over.
  12. QUOTE(michelangelosmonkey @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 10:10 AM) Jermaine Dye is hitting .214 right now. He's been injury prone a lot of his career...and has seemed hurt much of this year. He's 33. Is he REALLY going to bring trade value? Is he REALLY going to get a good contract in the off-season? You think the Sox could extend him at say $8 million per year for three years? The idea is he may not be the 1.000 OPS guy from last year, but also not the .670 OPS of this year. If you can sign a guy when he is mentally low and get a discount, there's no real reason to believe that he won't bounce back and be more like a .290/35 homer guy with pretty good defense. JD next year at $8 instead of Ichiro at $15? So many on the board are talking about some teams top prospect or just waiting to collect two number one's for him. But what if the option is neither...he walks and we get nothing. Depending on who he goes to, the supplemental picks will be worth something. He is a long framed, aging OF who has issues this year with his legs. He has slowed down over the last few years and projects to be a DH more than a OF and we have a DH right now. I dont know if we want to back that for a few years at a lot of money.
  13. QUOTE(max power @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 07:22 AM) I am really surprised, honestly. I wouldn't put this site anywhere near the top. The posters here are great but the server is slow and there is no search function. I find it amazing that it would be in the top half for those reasons alone. I really do love this site, though, don't get me wrong. I feel like an ass even saying that Well if you want to buck up for a quad core server with about 8 gig of memory I am sure that Jas and everyone would be very appreciative. You realize that the guys who run this site have other jobs and I didn't know that any of their jobs included IT. Its a pretty damn well run ship considering that its on people's own dimes and all and the amount of activity that hits this thing.
  14. At least KW and crew dont have to worry about Aboz leading the torch and pitchfork brigade at soxfest over this.
  15. Very smart decision on the whitesox part. To be a perennial winner you need to build around pitching. Pitching and defense is what wins. Now lets help pack up Contreras's things and help him find his way to NY.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) I don't think the Cubs have the upper echelon prospect I would require to get Buehrle. I have actually started to lower my asking price for Buehrle but any Buehrle deal has to include ONE HIGH HIGH IMPACT PROSPECT (SUPER STAR POTENTIAL) plus another good to very good prospect. It used to include two high impact plus a very good one. Matt Kemp and Billingsley is my pipe dream, but I would settle for Kemp and Dodgers AA shortstop. But a deal with the Dodgers must involve Kemp. A deal with the BoSox must involve Bucholtz. A deal with the Mets must involve either Pelfrey and Milledge (because I Think there value is a little lower) or one of there other high high impact guys and someone like Heilman or a couple other lower level prospects with some upside. I saw on one of the bosox boards that Bucholtz was promoted to Pawtuckett starting in the 2nd half after the Minor league futures game. Here are the impact guys I look for. bucholtz gomez/milledge Billingsley Pelfrey Salty Kemp Ellisbury
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) I don't get it. The org should be getting the best talent available and these are two talented individuals (Cedeno and Murton) who the Sox could get for Dye that could actually fit into the Sox plans for the next 5 years. Plus you get Jacque Jones who isn't a bad guy to have around as he is a very versatile outfielder who is much better (even with his awful season this year) than either Erstad or Pods. Lets not act like Dye could get us a #1 prospect from anyone. He could have in April, maybe May, but the fact is you aren't going to get a high impact guy that doesn't have some baggage and the Cubs happen to have a couple guys that may not be high impact but they both fill the clubs two biggest needs (Cedeno with speed and middle infield presence, although he is not a great base stealer; Murton filling the OF which has been absolutely horrendous). You caught me mid edit. I dont think Dye is worth much. I would love to see Murton or Cedeno on the southside. The radio has been with people talking about Buerhle going to the cubs. That is where I draw the line. Dye sure, go for it. Murton's value has dropped a bit since he was sent off to AAA. The same for Cedeno. To get rid of Jones they might be interested in including one, but probably not both of those guys.
  18. There were people talking about sending Buerhle to the cubs. Yikes. The only thing worse from a PR standpoint from not signing a guy to a below market deal, would be to send them to the cubs and help them in their playoff endeavors. Dye for Murton and a prospect. I am all over that though.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 11:31 AM) At times, I just hate Sox fans. I'm listening to this AWFUL show on the Score where Offman is having a fantasy GM segment where retarded callers pitch their ridiculous trade proposals. My 2 favorite: Uribe, Crede and Vazquez for Ichiro and Luis Castillo and Jon Garland for Chone Figgins (caller: "I'm not sure the Angels would do it") honorable mention goes to the most menial of them all: Iguchi and Hall for Miguel Olivo (apparently the Marlins need a 2B) Well Kalapse, how about the last caller the cub fan. He suggested that Buerhle can be had for a lesser package, and that the sox are irrelevant so why dont they trade Buerhle to the cubs. When asked what would the package be for. The moron stated, well I dont know, it wouldnt have to be much. But the cubs have one of the most vast systems in baseball????
  20. The funny thing is in a few years, we will be going through this again with Danks. His agent is Boras. Wait till those go down. Hometown discount is not in Boras's nature.
  21. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) It just makes no sense. If you sign him now, and if Buehrle keeps this season up, we could get a TON for Buehrle in the offseason. Or if we wanted to keep him but we struggle again next season we could trade him next deadline and still get a TON for him. Just really idiotic and I am very confident that this was Buehrle's last start now. What's next? Buehrle and the agent concede to a 4 year 56 mil deal with no NTC and Kenny turns it down saying it was too late? The next quote will be from Barry, saying that Mark instructed him to take the offer off the table and they will go to Free Agency. I think this was the last dance for this.
  22. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) If the ESPN info is correct, there is zero justification for the Sox not resigning Mark. That also means KW flat out lied his face off about the whole situation. The only way to save face now is to resign him, otherwise this is going to be the biggest mistake of the KW era (which hopefully ends soon). The Q&A session at Soxfest should be overflowing with people lining up to question this crap.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) The Sox continue to dig themselves in a terrible, terrible hole. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2929267 Well this is not about the NTC then. Its a bunch of smoke and mirrors. The 17 million dollar accelerator would only affect him on trade. Hopefully KW gets back something worth it, or the natives will be very restless.
  24. Hopefully Buerhle stays, or the talent that we get back is so overwhelming we are blown away.
  25. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) It just makes me sick to think we probably wont be seeing any more of this for the next 4 years because KW wont give in to 18 months of a NTC...i really hope someone rips him a new one at SoxFest next year Soxfest will be interesting this year. How does an NTC handcuff you on a pitcher that is signing under market. Why is Greg still employed. What is being done in our minor leagues to fix the mess of not preparing our boys to compete at the major league level. What are you going to do to put out the fire brigade of gascans in the pen.
