  1. QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) Kenny can point to this game as to why he doesn't offer Garland a full NTC next year. I am sure thats what Kenny is trying to do with Buerhle, point to a game last year and smiling and saying, well he blew dog late last year, how can I give him the NTC.
  2. One thing Farmer has said over and over today, and its true. Not one of the Twins players have hit the deck. They have basically sat in there and teed off on our pitching all day long.
  3. 20th run on a walk by the bullpen. Thats the extra cherry topping on the turd sundae.
  4. Imagine how the Twins feel. They explode for 18 runs, and the way things are working maybe we can get their back end of the pen up and into this game.
  5. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) LUGO? ... 8 million dollars for a guy hitting .192. Bucholtz, sure sign me up. Lugo, yikes.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Its in the Tribune's blog but Buehrle didn't say it necessarily meant he was out the door...rather he doesn't know what will happen and he wanted to get things cleaned out just in case. Well Buerhle hasn't blinked so far. To me, the cleaning out of the locker, is a blatant move in the public court of opinion. This serves no purpose but to get into the writers hands. It has more of an effect on the teammates, and the fans than it does on Buerhle or KWs intentions.
  7. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) FLoyd is gonna make us forget this awful outing with 7 inning masterpiece tonight. Floyd has all the tools. He has an electric fastball, a pretty damn good curve, he has added a slider this year, and he has a decent change. The one thing this kid hasnt had is confidence, and cockiness and an ability to throw strikes. The talent is there, if he harnesses the talent the Garcia trade is a blatant theft.
  8. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) Hey Kids. Tell me Gameday is screwed up. We can't be down 12-4 in the 4th??!! Dont worry we are only a bloop, bloop, bloop, blast and a bloop, bloop, bloop and a blast away from tieing this thing. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) I hadnt heard anything about this. Could you expand at all on it? But, if true its not surprising b/c Jon and MB are very close and they pretty much have been in Chicago together most of their careers Buerhle packing up his stuff
  9. Well Masset should get an opportunity to pitch the rest of this game like a start. So he gets to burn some innings, and show off what he has. Floyd gets to pitch tonight. The sugar coating is the ability to see these prospects in starts/or start like baseball.
  10. So we have reports from the Trib that Buerhle is cleaning out his locker today. And now we have one of his friends pitching like s***. You wonder how much of this crap wears on the players when trade rumors are like blood in the water.
  11. Garland kicks another. They are letting him wear it today with the doubleheader and the rookie pitcher going tonight.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:16 PM) Hunter is one of the greatest I've ever seen. He just makes everything look ridiculously easy. Plus he has a fantastic attitude and fits in nicely at the 5 or 6 spot of the lineup. He isn't quite what Jermaine was for the Sox last season but he can be a similar type of player, especially when you would factor in the type of hole he would be filling in CF. Plus, with his pop in CF, you could get away with having Sweeney's lack of pop in LF and could than go with a guy like Kemp in RF (and let him develop). Utilize the 2nd/SS spots for the 1-2 spots in the lineup, use Konerko at 1st, DH Crede, move Thome and let Fields play 3rd. It may not be a pretty offense, but for the most part it would have some speed, some vets, and if Konerko/Crede/Hunter do good you have enough pop in the middle (plus Fields) although it is obviously a righty dominated lineup. And you still have AJ's lefty bat and hopefully good speed at the top of the order. Mix that with a rotation that still has at least 2 of Garland/Buehrle/Vaz and you can still compete, imo. If you still have all three of those guys in the rotation than you can clearly compete, imo. If I had a bazillion dollars. It would be both, but in reality either one would help us out a lot. Ichiro or Hunter makes this team a lot better. Ichiro gives us a true leadoff hitter. He gives us everything that makes this team better. His arm is a cannon, and he has good defensive instincts. Hunter has great instincts. He also plays the game the right way. He always plays hard nosed. His bat is hit or miss. This year is a great year. He has some pop in his bat. I like what you are thinking there though. I would throw my money at Ichiro or Hunter and it makes this team better. Both of them give us something we dont have.
  13. Aggressive is one thing, Dumb base running is another.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) Holy s***...Hunter is good. I know he's getting older but I'd still absolutely love to have this guy in CF (especially if the club can get some good young outfielders to have around him and keep most of the rotation in tact). Because as long as you can keep the rotation in tact for the most part, you can compete next season (pitching staffs this good have chances to win). The amazing thing about Hunter is his instincts of the crack of the bat. He gets back to the fence, and makes the jump. We have had good defensive guys like Rowand and Anderson, but neither one of those guys had the instincts Hunter has.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) I think maybe Ozzie is sending a message to Kenny. I could be wrong, but Ozzie wants a speed guy and he's going to tell Kenny either get me a good one or I'll just trot out a s***ty guy that can run (and yes I'm being overly harsh on Owens but its the truth). Sweeney needs to play cause aside from Fields he is the only position guy that has a chance at being a major league regular (well at least in AAA right now). Oh and Richar obviously has a chance. Sweeney and Richar should be up soon. Lets see what we have while playing teams that have meaningful baseball. Bringing them up in september weakens the competition a bit. Richar is fast, hell if its a fast guy. Lets see what he can do. Sweeney needs to be playing in the OF, and batting 2nd for right now.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Toby did a freaking horrible job. Owens wouldn't be bad if his bat speed wasn't so ridiculously slow. Why the f*** Sweeney isn't up here and playing every day is beyond me. I understood with Pods up that the Sox were behooved to play Pods as much as possible hoping you could get him some trade value but Owens isn't the answer. Hall needs to just have his surgery and hope he can play next year. I respect him like no other for toughing it out, but the Sox are toast anyway so get healthy and be ready to play the next two years. Garland has just been bad today, but sometimes that happens. Its the Marlins template offense that Ozzie is after. One speedy guy up top, ala Pierre. Owens seems to be that guy for Ozzie. I would rather have Sweeney up and learning now instead of having Owens out there. Let Andy Gonzales bat first, let Sweeney bat second and rinse and repeat for the rest of the season.
  17. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Hawk keeps saying this is a big series for us. Am I missing something? I says, I says, another Duck Fart gets through for them der Piranha guys. If we take 3 of 4 we are just right dab nab in the thick of things. Now where was that pitch, I swear these umps have a bonifide conspiracy against the sox. They are jealous of our overall skill, good looks, and mental capacity. Dagnabbit, thats screaming line drive was caught by a Piranha. Their duck farts just get in, and our screaming line drives get caught. Thats the beauty of baseball. Al Kaline once said...now I got an email, yes an email from John in Elmhurst. Hawk and DJ, have you given up this year. Well John, no, because there is a lot of baseball left. Can we play .750 baseball the rest of the way. You gosh darn right we can. In fact, if I was a betting guy, I feel that they are about to go on a hot streak. If I was the Tigers and Indians I wouldnt give up on the pressure of looking at the sox in their rear view mirror. You think that they are saying, 12 games up we are safe. Hell no. They are afraid of our team. Afraid I says, of this team. Its a fine tuned machine. Its about to take names and kick ass. NOW WHERE WAS THAT PITCH BLUE, BAKER GOT THAT PITCH. DAGGNABBIT. GOSH DARN IT.
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) They're just spotting them a few runs today to keep it interesting. Cintron's in the line-up. Sac Fly, 4 zip Twinks.
  19. QUOTE(bkmoney @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) im listening to the game online.. but it didn't even ask for my password, and the same thing happened to my sister who lives in PA. anyone else want ot try? It looks to be free for this game.
  20. Its nice to see the defense including Garland, is kicking the ball around. Execution on defense is key to winning baseball. Well so far, the usual. The twins show up, and we quickly stick our heads up our ass. Then give good quotes about how great they are, and how their brand of baseball is the right way. We see their execution, we see how we want to be, but we dont put that product on the field day in and day out. 3 zip now.
  21. 2 Piranha's score. 2 zip. Joe Mauer makes his presence known.
  22. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 12:36 PM) Don't mean to question you, but I didn't think the option was for the season, I think it's the number of times a player can be sent back to the minors. Can this be confirmed by someone ? He is right. The option is for the year. Floyd used an option earlier this year, when he was optioned to AAA. He can go up and down all they want this season. Next year, Floyd will be out of options and they will have to expose him to waivers if they want to send him down.
  23. His line tonight means nothing in the long run for Danks. This is exactly what I wanted to see for a while with Ozzie, who has pulled Danks a lot quicker in a lot of situations. How would Danks perform deep in the game, when he is gassed. He learned more from tonights plus 100 pitch effort than he could of coming out with 6 innings, and only 2 runs. Executing when you nearly nothing left is what separates good pitchers from great ones. Hopefully he takes this as a learning experience, and I am sure Ozzie learned something as well about the limits of his rook. There was nothing wrong with this kid pitching in the 7th inning.
  24. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) It's people like you that makes me cozy inside for knowing that the White Sox are one of the worst teams in baseball and are going to be giving up their best player for peanuts. I can't wait until he wins a World Series in a Red Sox uniform after being traded for Wily Mo Pena and Craig Hansen. So there you have it. The supposed white sox fan, in all his glory.
