  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) Wow, shocking! Nice on Tad. Tad wouldnt of been able to turn that. That was all Joe on that one. Gooch was coming into the base, and Crede threw it on the wrong side of the bag. Even if gooch caught it cleanly, because of the feed it would of been a hard turn.
  2. Thanks Joe. Thats 3 runs you owe now. And 2 leads.
  3. Crede having problems with the throw these days. Maybe he is taking his craptacular bat onto the field.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) It seems like it's been so long since someone hit a nice line drive with RISP to score a run. What is this line drive you speak of. You can only score if you dip your back shoulder, get around on the ball and aim torward the Dan Ryan.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) Now honestly, Greg Walker's job should be hanging by a string. We've lost almost about half the players from the 2005 team, why not someone on the coaching staff? Notice how every single right handed hitter has the same glaring hole.
  6. Not cold, bad pitcher, right handed. Lots of popups on what the first or second pitches. Is this really the game plan that they came up with. It must be, because the entire team is dong it. The pitchers looks a bit wild to me, I would probably take a few pitches and get into the poop pen of the Rangers.
  7. So lets see. Its not that cold, we are facing a righty, and he can barely throw strikes. He is on a pitching staff that is 2nd worst in the AL. What wrong?
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) Should we assume it's a pretty serious injury since he was DL'd so quick? If it was just a tweak of the abductor I doubt they would have called up Logan so damn quick. I wonder how fast he will be when he comes back. Explosive I am sure.
  9. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 05:25 PM) Its OK. Coop Walker will fix him. The last time Walk fixed him, he hit in the 230/240 range for 2 months and was exposed to low and away, and sliders away like Mr. Anderson.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) KW had his shot at him and didn't pull the trigger, now it's too late. I have a frightening thought for you. Its halloween scary. What if Boone is up to show he can get major leaguers out, to tempt the Phillies to send over Ozzies favorite grinder. They need bullpen pitching, like they are digging off the scrap heap right now.
  11. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) Pods will probably be out longer. An adductor strain is basically a groin injury, which seems like it is close to the same issues he's been having. He probably came back too soon after his surgery. He has been one big groin strain since he got here. How many surgeries has he had. This is like having Prior say, his shoulder is a bit tight. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) I have 3 words for everyone: BRA-DY CLARK TRA DED ALREADY
  12. Cheat's site used as a reference for SI to prove we suck against lefties. Great work by the Cheat and it shows up in SI.
  13. QUOTE(kane0730 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Did Perez hook on with anybody? I'd rather have his bat on the bench then Logan. Actually I'd rather have him on the team then Erstad. Yeah why not leave Boone down. Do we really need 3 lefties in the pen? And take a flier on Perez. It cant hurt our average versus lefties.
  14. Pods Groin is at it again The White Sox placed outfielder Scott Podsednik on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, retroactive to April 16, with a right adductor pull
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 11:52 AM) Handy to have another ex-cop around, SSI. Because if the would-be hero fails (which is a significant possibility), he probably is dead too, and might have taken others with him accidentally. Lets say the Hero vanquishes the bad guy, in a 15 shot gun match at the ok corral. If any of the students get shot, winged, or crippled because of the hero's gun play and they can match it to the hero's gun with ballistics. How many of those same happy students are going to sue the living crap out of Mr. Hero. Because I can tell you, if an officer shoots at a bad guy, and the bullet misses and hits a friendly. He is sued, the department is sued and the fun begins. Hell you have to be careful in police pursuits. My brother is a cop right now, and he got sued because of an incident where he chased after a 15 year old gang banger who stole a car. He stopped his pursuit after 1 mile due to his departments requirements. The kid went another 5 miles down the road at a high rate of speed, and then flipped the car. They sued. If you shoot the guy in one shot head shot, and no other collateral damage. Awesome, good shot. If your bullet misses and takes out a girls spleen you are poor for the rest of your life. If you want to be the police, then make a career change. Otherwise keep your guns at home, the range, and on a turkey hunt. Not at the mall or the mcdonalds.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 11:34 AM) I think this is the best point made here. There are a lot of good reasons why people should be allowed to own firearms. But in this type of situation, even if a student had one, there is just as good a chance it ends up making it worse as making it better. One of the scariest stats ever, this from the FBI (got it years ago in training, no link, sorry): in scenarios with 2 or more armed people in a shoot-out, INSIDE 10 FEET, 5 of the first 6 shots MISS, on average. And the percentage for trained law enforcement is only slightly higher than for bad guys. So those 5 rounds fired, keep traveling until their energy is spent at 1000 feet/per second(9mm). Some of them go into a wall, some of them ricochet a bit. But in a crowed area, some of those shots might hit flesh. Their is some romanticism on how quick draw mcgraw can wing a gnat at 1000 yard in the wind blindfolded. But it doesn't work that way. I remember when an officer I worked with shot a guy with a knife. The 22 year old pulled the knife out for what he said was to defend himself against some other guys outside of a bar. The officer came in on the scene, asked him to drop the knife. He didn't, and then proceeded to step in the direction of the officer with the knife, the officer fired and shot him in the stomach. The kid didn't die, wound up suing because in his mind, why didn't the officer just shoot my hand. Well it doesn't work that way. You shoot into the largest target area, the body mass, and then you go for the vital. 2 in the chest, one in the head.
  17. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:12 AM) Anyone have any scouting info on Tejeda just like when we faced Gaudin, a new pitcher. No one seems to know a lot about this Tejeda guy, does anyone have any info, what does he feature, how should we approach him? If he pitches us like most have this year. Look to low and away, with breaking pitches in the dirt.
  18. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...EWS01/303230014 http://www.columbusdispatch.com/dispatch/c...hp?story=250554 http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...L1803/702190386 http://dispatch.com/dispatch/contentbe/dis...1214-A1-02.html http://www.sunherald.com/mld/sunherald/news/15785046.htm Just a few stories where guns have saved people, for reflection. Guns at home for protection. Excellent. I have no problem. If you break into my home, you will meet the business end of a glock. But that has nothing to do with Jimmy at the library who has a 45 in his pants.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) Do you give the guy who just busted in the door a chance to shoot? Is he the shooter intent on killing you or is he a good Samaritan coming to protect you? thinkquick, you've been hiding in that classroom waiting for your chance. He's COMING FOR YOU! Save everyone!! Why do you think we train, retrain, and train some more police in these situations? Swat teams train in a killhouse scenario. Close quartered combat, which is hard for a person to pick out who is the bad guy and who isn't. If I went into room and had 2 people with guns, as I was trained you treat both of them as hostiles until they disarm. If I was to sit and say, well Jimmy in the back doesn't look too threatening shooting the gun at the guy up front I am probably dead.
  20. QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:41 AM) One more gun in the hands of a responsible person on that campus would have stopped this. You realize that this isnt as easy as you make it out to be. Take some 60f target practice, and slightly move your hand. You miss the target and it goes into the trap in the back. Now imagine someone is shooting at you, you hear bullets whistling by. Now can you line up your target, pull the trigger and hit the body mass. Because if you miss, your bullet now whistles by his body, and then continues on until its energy is depleted. So hopefully people aren't around. Plus you realize that the guy had a bullet proof vest. So you want to take him down, we are talking about a moving head shot while he shoots at you. A sniper, or swat guy sure but its still a difficult shot.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) I would be more than happy to debate. When you leave your classroom and see a guy down the hall carrying a gun, shooting, he quickly turns as he hears you approaching, do you shoot at him? Too bad, you just murdered someone, that's a guy shooting at the *real* shooter. Now picture the scene when you apologize to his mother for killing her son because you thought he was the shooter, or apologizing to a husband because you missed the shooter and killed an innocent bystander. How much regular practice and training do you have with your weapon? Are you looking at the background in case you miss? Imagine twelve people running around with guns when the cops arrive? Who do they shoot first? Bingo. I am for a persons right to have arms to protect their house, or to hunt. But conceal and carry is a dangerous mix. The average person doesn't have a gun on them when they walk around, so when tempers rise and maybe with the presence of alcohol how many fights will turn into gun battles. As a former law enforcement person I can tell you, if I had a call on a man with a gun and then came into a situation with a gun drawn and saw him. If he pointed it at me I would of killed him. How am I supposed to know that this is Jimmy the good Samaritan gun guy, versus the bad guy who just shot a bunch of people. I wouldn't. I can tell you this, no matter how man times you do it as an officer. The minute your gun comes out of your holster, your adrenaline pumps. But then again, maybe it was because I knew that the minute my weapon was pulled that something could happen at a moments notice. One bad move or bad decision on either my side or the other persons side could lead to tragedy.
  22. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) Well, when I meant that he acted like a star was not adapting to the country and missing the american cuisine, culture, etc and not willing to interact with the local culture. I strongly feel that Ozzie is mainly upset with him because of all this Venezuela stuff. I am pretty sure that BA was saying some bad stuff about the country behind Ozzie and Ozzie got to know that. Of course BA will not criticize in front of the media otherwise he would be in bad shape. I suggest you go through the travelers diarrhea or a protozoa infestation drinking some of the water in a latin american, or far east country before you judge someone. Let me help you out, imagine sharp pains in your stomach for a few weeks. And then sit on the toilet and pretty much open up the water works. After all this fun, go out in the heat and play some baseball. As a person who has traveled, and who has dealt with some of this fun. I can tell you, its easier to dismiss it then to go through it.
  23. The tigers are throttling KC and Grienke, doing whtat they did last year. Beating teams that they should. Hopefully we are not giving excuses of how Grienke had a great game, or those pesky Royals beat us again. We need to beat teams that we should this year. No more giveaway games, no more zero effort corpseball nights in summer. Beat the Royals, we are a much better team than they are.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 06:16 PM) Chris Rongey is on Chicago Tribune Live right now, in case you haven't gotten your daily dose of idiocy. PFB Power!!!!
