  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) Make Contreras' opening day start look like CC Sabathia's and its probably .225 or lower. Its really hard to hit when the game is being played in the conditions the majority of the games have been played in. Here is the breakdown. The Indians are hitting .318 against us this year, while we are hitting .240 against them maybe its the thermal underwear. Oakland one of the worst hitting teams this year, hit .174 against us, while we hit a robust .221. It was not cold in Oakland. And only one of their pitchers was good. Minny hit .148 against us, and we hit .200 against them. One good pitcher faced us, and one not so good.
  2. QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) I really don't think theres any fault to put on ozzie today, just guys at the plate not gettin the job done. We couldn't string anything together and we didn't take advantage of situations we were in. We need to do that especially if the WTP keeps up. So you call it just bad Karma, that our lefties get mowed down by a Loogy while right handed batters on the bench say high.
  3. Some quotes from Tribe fans about grinderstad
  4. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) He's overswinging. I think it's because, batting second, he's gotten into the habit of trying to pull through the first base hole. In the first inning, for example, he took a ball on the outer half and tried to turn on it, resulting in a 14-hopper to second. And this has been happening quite a bit lately, whether a runner is on or not. He looks like he's swinging from his heels. The guy looks totally undisciplined up there. Observation, thats how most of our hitters hit on this team. Lift and pull.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 03:35 PM) It will affect it a lot. Its harder to concentrate. You swing at pitches you normally would not swing at. You hold the bat a lot tighter so you don't get the bees, and it really slows it down. Ozzie loves Sweeney We are hitting .225 as a team for 29th in baseball. So unless you think that we are the only team with cold weather, or a black cloud that follows us it doesnt explain why other teams can hit in the cold and we s*** the bed.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) The weather hasn't exactly been ideal for a lot of offense so far this year. I wouldn't get too pissed at the lack of offense or too excited about good pitching performances yet. How does the weather affect people striking out and popping the ball straight up. The weather will affect maybe the carry of the ball. But then again, the Indians changed their approach mid game and started to drive the ball to right. We kept taking huge cuts trying to hit home runs on the low and away pitch. It was hot as hell late last year, and our offense went into the dumper in the 2nd half.
  7. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) The day before the game and the built-in excuse has already begun... Whats the excuse for Grinderstad.
  8. At least we will save Seattle the embarassment for worst offense. If they have a good game or 2 we should be a solid 30 out of 30 teams in batting average.
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) Missed most of the game. I'm guessing it was a bad one? I know we lost (are about to), but did they look absent again? Its not our fault, we faced Johan Byrd and no one can hit him. With his 85 mph heat and 81mph changeup.
  10. Thank god they worked with Gooch to get around on the ball and elevate.
  11. So I wonder if Ozzie will tell everyone that our bats will wake up when it gets hot in June like Pinella.
  12. So we can change it to. Coop will fix em, Walk will break em.
  13. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) Can anyone think of a worse White Sox game in recent memory? I'm thinking the game Bedard totally shut us down last year...but at least we were shut down by a pitcher by very good stuff. Maybe Buehrle's start at Wrigley? Kason Gabbard, Julian Tavarez, Runnynose Hernandez, some Royals dude who shut us down, and then went on the DL. The list is the Joe Mays craptacular pitcher performance list of low and away.
  14. Tune in after the game for the Pink Fuzzie Bunny Rongey report. I wonder how he will spin this turd.
  15. There is nothng wrong with the offense. All of these pitches are using evil spirts and black magic to keep our bats silent. The infidels will soon rue the day they locked horns with the best team in baseball. Anderson is the devil.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) Well of course. I'd expect most everybody here to say it. That does nothing to convince me. He wouldnt have gotten it. Sure this coming from a person who wanted Buerhle over Johan. Hawk at least would want Johan over Buerhle, and he is a homer.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) this thread has gotten awfully quiet... Well the thread is throwing us low and away. Uribe with a defensive brain fart.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) I have held out and not made any posts in this thread, although I have been here the whole time. This is without a doubt the most frustrating game I have watched in recent memory. Men at the corners, no outs, and we have to watch that approach to the plate? Wow. You have seen this before. Carlos Lee, Jose Valentin versus the Twins late in August. KW stating if he sees one more home run cut when we need a single he will throw up.
  19. In April of 2005 when we couldnt hit,we hit .255 as a team. We are hitting 20 points below that.
