  1. Bmacs numbers are not that bad. 4 innings 5 hits 2 runs 2 solo homers 2 walks 2 ks
  2. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) Thanks! It just kind of reminds me of when we picked him up, looking at his stats from the previous year you wonder why, and same case this year. I honestly feel he will step it up this year and that last year had ALOT to do with injuries and marrying Lisa Durgen. Jeter bangs every supermodel that he can get his hands on, Tom Brady also knocks them up. Yet both of them can play professional sports without having massive groin injuries.
  3. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) Can anyone post Pods stats for the last three years? Can't get to those sites from work! Here are his stats since he became a big leager. 2003 .315 BA and a .379OBP 2004 Just like Willie Mays hays in Major League II he decides to add the long ball to his stats. .244BA with a .313 OBP, both failures for a leadoff hitter. 2005 .290BA and a .351OBP 2006 .260BA and .330OBP So good year, bad year, good year, bad year, who knows this year.
  4. The comments that people dont want a whitesox player to do well are not correct at all. Let me clarify. If Pods has a good season, then sure lead off and do the thing that you do. But if you are telling me that we should live with a guy hitting .241 for half the season and having an OBP of .298 then I think you are nuts if you dont want that replaced as the leadoff guy.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) How much will having Razor at third help us? Pretty much addition by subtraction. Waving Cora is now on the bench were he can keep Ozzie company. I hope we dont see Konerko getting waved in on a smash single to left and he is a foot off of 2nd.
  6. If Greg really wants to fix Uribe, he needs to pick up the phone and give Walt a jingle. Get him on the plane to Arizona and work with Uribe for the next few weeks. And then when its fixed again, dont decide to change it.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) If Perez is infact ok, that was a huge AB in terms of helping him make this club. Santana, Lee, Rogers, Maroth, Sowers, CC, whatever lefty crap the Royals throw out. These are the reasons that Perez needs to make the team.
  8. If Eduardo Perez doesnt make team, then someone needs a beating. Hopefully his leg is okay.
  9. Crede pulls the ball, an error jacks up the double play. 1-0. s***ty situational hitting so far. That should of been bases loaded no outs, and no one scores.
  10. Lets see how we do with situational hitting today.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 12:27 PM) Why does every bad-but-young Sox player have to be compared to the best players in the game? Justin Morneau! Roy Halladay! In 2005 Justin Moreneau sucked, He was god awful, and was getting owned by good pitchers left and right. He was almost traded away.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:51 AM) Well I haven't read through every thread in PHT about Brian lately so I haven't seen your points, whatever. Nobody has to think Brian is going to be a star and not many do, but that's not the point anyone is trying to make here. The fact of the matter is, Brian is the best option we have in Center by far and away. You can say that the reason Ozzie doesn't like Brian is because he sucks, well explain to me why in the 2nd half of the season when Brian and Mack were virtual equals at the plate that Mack still got so many damn ab's when he's about a million times inferior defensively. Something is wrong with that picture. Ozzie cost us a good amount of games last year because he has something against Brian, and that's just unacceptable, period. Here is another thing. The best solution late last year, would of been to have Mack in LF and Brian in CF. Pods was hitting .241 in the 2nd half with an OBP of .296. That is abissmal for a leadoff guy. His defense was horrible and he wasnt doing anything on the basepaths. But he kept on being trotted out there day in and day out, only being rested against lefties. It would of been better to pair up Mack with Ozuna in LF.
  13. So if you suck at the plate, and look clueless you are done and that is it. Too bad the Twins didnt feel this way about last years MVP who hit .239 in 05. Then again, people who struggle early on never turn into anything good.
  14. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) Ok, I'll stop, I didn't know he was the next Robin Ventura. Does anyone here realize that what Robin did is rare? In other words, not the common. Why don't we just have one thread title "BA is God" I didnt know he was the next LTP also. Its not rare for major leaguers to struggle with the bat when they come up, it happens. Its about patience to see if they are good or not in the long run. Its about adjustments. I would say its rarer for a player just to jump to the majors and play at the major league level. It just doesnt happen. Its not saying BA is god. Far from it. But give the kid a chance first before you drop a 1st round draft pick to the crapper because of his rookie season. If he sucks again this year and declines or shows no improvement, then by all means drop him. But to give up on a kid, that struggled in the first half and then showed improvement in the 2nd half is a silly argument. I hope you also want Uribe gone too, because he just barely and I mean by the end of the season beat out BAs horrible Batting average. You also want Crede gone too because he also hit in that neighborhood also before.
  15. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:07 AM) Im referring to at bats that actually had something to do with a win for the Sox. Face it, Anderson sucks and looks like a nervous b$%^& at the plate. I am sure that Robin Ventura would of looked like a nervous b$%^& at the plate when he hit .179 and .249 in his first 2 season. I am sure that you would of crapped over him and wanted him moved. But then again hindsight is 20/20.
  16. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) Eh, it may be the overwhelming soxtalk consensus that anderson is 100% the best choice, but I still have my doubts. This wouldn't have been an issue if anderson had not looked so atrocious at the plate last year. That's why I'm just gonna sit back and hope that the organization, which is much, much more informed on all factors for this decision, will make the best choice. Actually, that's why I'm curious to see what his numbers were post AS break in 'clutch' situations because even though he was batting about .250 (I think?), I'm having trouble recalling if he had any relevant hits (and I have bad memory). I bet the amount of times that he cost us at the plate was less than the amount of times that Mack cost us in the field playing CF.
  17. QUOTE(supernuke @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) Both Crede and Uribe were playing their second full season's in Ozzie's first year as Manager. Hardly Veterans yet both were given chances to play everyday. Uribe had almost 600ABs for Colorado in 2002, so he wasnt exactly a rookie.
  18. QUOTE(supernuke @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) Bobby Jenks Joe Crede Juan Uribe Crede and Uribe were vets. Jenks is the only example that would stick.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 10:21 AM) Just like Freddy Garcia was Guillen's boy? That didn't stop him from getting shipped off, though many thought it would. I don't think it's obvious at all that Ozzie isn't going to play BA because he isn't his 'boy'. Well Ross Gload wasnt one of Ozzie's boys. And in 2005 when Ross was hitting up a storm in AAA, we needed a backup 1st baseman and a DH for a bit. But Ozzie refused to have him brought up, and used Timo Perez as a DH and a 1st baseman even. Timo was probably one of the worst hitters in all of baseball that year, and we rolled into Yankee stadium with that as our leadoff hitter, with that as a DH also. Ozzie's boys seem to get an overwhelming opportunity even though they dont deserve it all the time. If you tell me Pods deserved to play LF late last year over Mackowiak and I would ask what you are smoking.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 11:34 PM) David Wells. I remember a story about him from last year. I think you have your facts mixed up, the story stated that Wells ate 5 meatball grinders.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) He is probably a grinder. I am sure he is. Travis Hafner would grind him up and deposit him on the Dan Ryan.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) 94 ERA+ last season and he'll be 37 years old in this year. I'm sure he'd do just fine. I love the logic of the people who make this crap up about how we should do this, or how we should trade Mac and other bullpen help for Lieber. We ditch players for prospects so in the end, we can turn those prospects into a 37 year old pitcher who isnt that good, and a 4th OF that is famous for smashing his face into the fence. The only good thing about this possibility, is that the Twins, Tigers and Indians might have multiple players on the DL when they all get into a fight at the bat rack.
  23. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) Based on recent happenings-dont be surprised if the Rowand trade happens, Jon Lieber is involved too Lieber will get freakin rocked in the AL. He had an near 5 era in the NL. Making this trade would be counter productive.
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) Only 1 of Danks runs was earned. Andy Gon had 2 errors. Not that it matters. Well to properly evaluate him, he needs to go in a starting role against more seasoned talent. I am sure that he can dominate minor leaguers, I want to see how he fairs against the big leaguers.
