Tony La Russa named Manager
What is the gameplan here then. Why use TLR as a smokescreen. There are plenty of other options they could interview to get that process going.

Hahn "So Tony what do you think of Analytics with regards to developing pitchers." Tony "Well if Analytics is what Dave Duncan calls a two seamer, then I believe in lots of analytics. By the way I tripped over some odd thing on the ground in your bullpen. What in tarnation is a RAPSODO. Is it a speaker?" Hahn "So our department of analytics gives you a scouting report.." Tony "Let me stop you there partner, no accountant with a computer is going to tell me more than my gut. That guy never played a game in his life from what I saw of him." Basically TLR will give guys like gregg a reason to go full mast.

Lets take the fan part of out it. What exactly about AJ says he is a good manager. he was a catcher? He played on the white sox? He is on tv? I mean this constant memberberry stuff that sox fans have of bringing back former players is what guys like JR count on. MB is a great pitching coach, why? Because he was a good pitcher. Robin Ventura was one of the best white sox players and most clutch hitters I can remember. He was great defensively and if the game was on the line he was one of the guys I wanted up at the plate. He was a horrible horrible horrible manager. Let me break it down for you great player != great manager Some of the better managers were terrible players.

Does it matter. Why is he getting interviewed. Its because there is real interest.

If Jerry forces Tony on this. Then I will have to wait for Jerry's eventual departure for the heavenly express before we have any serious changes. Similar to what happened with the blackhawks.

How long do you think the white sox window is. He is 76. Check the obits and see how many of people in their late 70s and early 80s are waking up in the morning and not with us later in the day. Its not a question on mental faculties. Its the fact that human beings have an expiration date.

You would be warm to Hawk Harrelson being the manager as well. AJ the hitting coach, and Ozzie as the GM.

the other side of this from an age perpective. This team is about to go on an extended run. So hiring a 76 year old. What is his longevity here. Do we see him at 80 managing the team.

So if thats the case whats next, Dave Duncan becomes the pitching coach then. Pack up the rapsodo's and the trackman and sell it on ebay then.

Hinch could also just get another job where he doesnt have a grandpa holding his hand and impeding his decisions for a year.

That sounds very data driven.

I also liked Ken Griffey Jr. He was one of the greatest of all time. Not the version we got however.

Hiring Larussa would ruin this team. What next Dave Duncan to replace Cooper.
-
AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
I agree. Its an exciting time. To me the cooper move says more about the direction than Renteria.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
i am hopeful that the new regime will bring more analytics and instrumentation like pitch design using technology instead of using your eyes. I would like to see a uniform direction on a "white sox" way being instituted across the entire landscape of the organization. We have the talent. Lets get the most of of them. I want someone who is seasoned and knows how to do this at the MLB level. Not anyone learning on the job.

Giving a near championship ready team to a first time manager just because he is a fan favorite would be a failure by Hahn. I loved Ventura the player. I didn't love Ventura the manager. There is too much at stake here to experiment.

Offseason Targets
They are going to chalk up Mazara in 2020 as a covid post recovery. They are going to roll with him and engel as a platoon in RF. They are not spending money this offseason.
-
Guess the pitcher we add in the offseason
I think their big name offseason pickup is kopech. They will hope that Cease and Dunning and Reylo get better. And they will roll with it.
-
Fire Ricky
Ricky on using Rodon “When we bring these guys in, we don't go in there expecting that they're going to fail. We go in there expecting that they can work. And obviously Los is really good. His fastball was good, his slider was really good. And they ended up getting him, and that's it." Wat?
-
Fire Ricky
Then he shouldnt of started. They should of went to someone else then. We all knew it was a bullpen game. But I dont think anyone had a clue that it was a 15 pitches and 2 guys on and its over type of start. Thats madness.
-
Fire Ricky
So in the first inning. You pull your starter? After 15 pitches. Notice the other team didnt do that. Which one was better setup later in the game to win it.
-
Guess the pitcher we add in the offseason
Same could be said for Gio and Detwiller before the season started. Yet here we are.
-
Guess the pitcher we add in the offseason
What I would like 1.) Bauer 2.) Stroman What we will get...hope that all of the kids take a step forward. A promise to commit to the process and hopefully Kopech comes and is strong. Then your backup plans are Alex Wood Homer Bailey
