Unexpected players on the Sox roster
southsideirish71 replied to bigred3535's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Mike Jackson, he has another years experience and he is cheap -
I love Jerry Reinsdorf and find him to be a very generous soul.

Andy Ashby is just the type of pitcher we could use at a time like this The rainbow effect is in full motion.

I figure with the amount that most of us put down on partial season tickets, investments in going to spring training, soxfest it gives us the right to b**** on a internet board. I forget that we have the few sunny side people who think that every move is great and that we are always headed in the right direction. You are the same people who would of chastised others for making comments in 97 during the white flag trade. You are just b****ing, we are really out of it JR is right. 94 must of been just a misunderstanding of JRs intentions.

Its sarcasm my friend. Look it up in the dictionary. If you cant take a few jokes at the expense of others you need to get your mangina taken care of.

And to project our moves in the June Period. The whitesox have solidified their bench trading prospect Ryan Sweeney to the Rangers for C Sandy Alomar. Sandy is batting 234 with 5 home runs and will be in the 3 catcher rotation. Sweeney is batting 295 at AA Birmingham. He is rated as one of the top prospects and figures to be in the lineup in 2007 for the rangers. When blasted by the media KW defends his decision: We have a board in my office. A board mind you of every prospect. Jeremey Reed was a fluke. Yes I believe he will be the rook of the year, but we believe that Joe Borchard has more up side. Joe has finally started to come around and has raised his BA to 245 in AAA. We feel that he has turned the corner and will be a solid outfielder. We currently have a log jam in the outfield so Ryan was someone that we felt could be send off. Now I am going back to my office to make more deals. The board is still in motion. The board tells all. Two weeks later the whitesox announce the trade of Paul Konerko to the dodgers for two class A prospects. This time KW asked for not only their names but pictures to go with their names after being duped before to select a 34 year old OF instead of the class AA phenom he thought he traded for. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me KW was quoted saying. Sox payroll is now 55 million.

Kenny will give him the same 3 year 21 mill offer he gave Clement. Then the angels will give him a 3 year 24 million dollar offer and we will lose him. Kenny will then offer the 3 year 21 mill offer to Lowe, who will get 3 years 22 mill from the tigers and we will lose him. Millwood thinks he is still an 8 mill pitcher. At Soxfest: Before you all boo me remember how flexible our salary situation is. We have the flexibility to swoop down and get more salary in June. Jason Grilli is someone that we have targetted for years, and we believe he can be a solid number 3 starter. He has nasty stuff and is a plus guy. We still are working on improving the sox and I vow not to stop trying to make a deal to improve the team. But we will not make a deal just to make a deal. If you want to blame someone for the failure of signing wright and clement, blame the press. If I was allowed to fly under the radar we would have one of these guys locked up.

The whitesox are interested in Odlais. Thanks for that tidbit Bruuuuce. Thank god we have an inside guy like you here. Now run along and go and report on the sammee issues and how the cupcakes on the northside are going to improve their team.
-
Bruces phone call: Hi Bruce we have exactly what you ordered. One well hung shemale for your condo later tonight. Dont mess her up like the last one.
-
Who is his high ranking official. Wally the weiner cart guy.

I wonder if gammons slaps his meat under the table every time they mention the RedSox. You can just see it now. The RedSox have just signed premier pitcher Matt Clement. (slapping noises heard and gammons starts to make wierd faces;wierder than usual). I think with this addition of Matt Clement the Bosox will repeat as WS champs for the next 10 years. A loud grunt is heard. I believe that Matt is better than Randy. (gammons takes a second to wipe some sweat from his brow)

The only thing we are going to lose in this deal is a hell of a guy from a personality standpoint. Kong might not be the fastest guy on the team, but his is all about team. He is a standup guy. Thats the only thing to me that sucks in this deal.
-
How hard do you have to try to be successful in the mexican league. Gload owned that league.
-
Remember everyone Konerko is a FA after this year. And will be going for a pretty penny if he has a repeat of last year. Again the sox would lose out. If this is Kong for Vasquez straight up, even with Marte its not a bad gig. Remember you are basing all of this on last seasons statistics with Kong. Not with the last few years when he would put up Jeckle and Hyde seasons. I like Konerko, I think he is probably the best fastball hitter I have seen in a while. But most of his homers are Cell induced. He is slow, remember how many of you b****ed and moaned either how slow he was or how he is a base clogger. I figured that Konerko would be dealt. I never thought for a million years that both Kong and Lee would be dealt in the same offseason. If we do lose Kong to this, we need to sign AJ and get a first baseman. Davis needs to be a personal catcher or Burke needs to be a personal catcher. Maybe also get Palanco. Vasquez+whatever else they throw in+palanco+FA 1st basemen+visquino+pods>Lee&Konerko

I would question your projection of Cotts stats to say he is the next Johan. What next Grilli is John Smoltz and Diaz is Curt Schilling.
-
The soon to be moved washington nationals have a projected 50 mill payroll. From contraction to 15 mill off of our payroll. Nice
-
Its not that he needs just to learn a changeup. He needs to learn how to pitch. Johan has pretty pinpoint control. His stuff is nasty, but its his ability to get that nasty stuff where he wants to throw it that makes him dominant. Cotts has a few things to learn before he becomes a starting pitcher.
-
How made will everyone be if it comes out that the 3 year deal was backloaded with deferments like colons deal.
-
Salary dump. He gets the speedster that Ozzie wants. He gets rid of Lee. Now everyone wonders why Lee was sent instead of Konerko. It makes perfect sense. Lee was under contract for 2005 and 2006. We get rid of him there is no pressure to resign him. Konerko is under contract for 2005 only. He will be easier to either get rid of in the middle of the season or to lose out to for FA. 16 mill off the books without a fight.

Quote from Rotoworld on October 2nd. Jason Grilli was tagged for six runs in 3 2/3 innings tonight in a loss to the Royals. Only the White Sox would prefer this to Felix Diaz. Grilli finishes 2-3 with a 7.40 ERA. There will be no reason to keep him on the 40-man roster in the offseason. JR saves his money and the human pinball machine starts the 5th starter saga once again.
-
KW isnt going to get fired. He jumps around yapping like the taco bell burrito dog. Making all sorts of noise, getting hopes up. Then in the end JR gets money back. KW to JR. Jerry, I think we can land a big free agent pitcher. It will cost us 7 million. JR to KW Kenny go for it. But you need to dump some salary. Trade Lee or Konerko and you can reinvest the money. Didnt Ozzie say something about fast guys like Pierre. Get someone like Pierre but cheaper. KW to JR. I got a trade setup, we get rid of Carlos and get a fast guy who is on a down season and another bullpen pitcher. We will save about 6 million that we can use to reinvest into clement. JR to himself 6 millllllllion dollars, jackpot. JR to KW I think we can get a hometown discount on Clement. Give him 7 million, and structure the deal the way we structured Colons deal. He can get his 21 million over the next 10 years. Tell him we will give a team option for a 4th year and a 5 dollar buyout. JR to KW Now if this doesnt work, dont worry we can reinvest it later. I can get interest, i mean dont make rash decisions on a pitcher. Hey that Grilli kid looked good last year. Check out his ERA+ numbers. I think you may have a steal there. KW to Ozzie: Clement didnt work out, but Jason Grilli looks good for number 5. Why do you keep saying Chinga. Who is Chinga Te? Is he that korean hitter we signed for 2nd base. JR to the board: The plan is almost complete. I have our man out doing a good PR job. He has them believing that we will reinvest the money in the team. We are at 64.2 million on the payroll. I figure that by July 1st we will be able to get rid of Konerkos salary and Everett. Next year we can launch these kids can play II. Its all going according to plan lord vader.
-
65 million dollar payroll and crap on a stick for the 5th starter. Thanks JR and KW for nothing you worthless pieces of crap.
-
Does anyone know anyone who can keep the ERA under 7 and give us at least 5 innings every fifth day?
-
I am looking forward to the Q&A session at soxfest. So JR have you invested the money you saved by not fielding a competitive team this year in something safe like a CD.
-
Detroit will add Lowe to their rotation. They have two closers so their pen is much better. Their offense is stacked from last year and they beat the sox even with inferior teams over the last two years. Cleveland - Young hungry hitters. Bullpen looks a bit better than last year. Minny - 2 dominant pitchers who we do not know how to beat. But hey there is always the Royals. 4th place without dominant pitching 1-5. So far we added team speed with pods. Everything else is a wash.
