  1. Some day someone will teach Mr. Cotts how not to walk everybody he faces. Maybe if he actually looked where he was throwing before he released the ball. But I guess that would make his "deceptive" motion not too deceptive. He needs an entire year at AAA so he can learn to consistantly throw a strike. His walk amount is silly. Garlands walk to start this inning, 1-2 on the hitter then walks him. Nice outing by Garland but again nibbling by our pitchers gets us into trouble.
  2. Well as long as Stone Hands Valentin is not facing Rogers we will have a shot. Although the comic relief value of watching a good lefty work Jose over like a cheap suit is worth it. Slow breaking ball, he takes it for strike one. Fastball down the middle he fouls off for strike two. Curveball in the dirt, he offers and misses for strike three. Over the period he faced the Gambler and Benoit he went 1-8 with 7Ks in a row. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=240525104 The last time Jose met up with the gambler. 0-4 with 4 K's. Soon Jose's rein of stone handed terror will be over.
  3. I see you have met some members of my family SOX PRIDE!!!!! and IRISH PRIDE!!!!! When the best of two worlds come together.
  4. Pog Mo Thoin Injuns and Twinks and Flubs :fthecubs I will drink to that. Faith and Begorrah
  5. Why not bring up either Sweeney or Anderson. Other teams have done it with their talent when they have been out of it. How old is BJ Upton and how old was Miguel Cabrera last year. Not a lot of minor league AB's for either of those guys. Give the guys a shot and maybe they do something, maybe its a spark for them. Sweeney has a pure swing and had a great spring training. Get him in touch with Walk to see how he is progressing at high A and it may help him to keep focus for next year. The same thing with Anderson. Sit some of the old vets that we may either not have next year or may trade. And the excuse of well they have the High class A playoffs or something isnt an excuse. The experience they will get playing 30 games up in the bigs is more than beating the Chipahaw Falls AeroBitmes of the Dog meat league for the championship. The month of september should be a big audition. Valdez should play SS every game with Uribe playing 3rd and 2nd. Willie should get into the mix also. I would rather see what kind of spark these guys have in a no pressure situation than wait until July of next year and drop these guys for their major league debuts in the middle of a playoff race. DH Everett and Carlos Lee.
  6. 4 months after he should of been the white sox release Mike Jackson. Felix Diaz is called up to take his place.
  7. Who gives a s*** again that he has 26 home runs. You would of loved Rob Deer he hit his share of home runs but he couldnt field and he couldnt hit for average. Get over the value of the long ball. We have seen how having a group of home run hitters has done for us over the last few years. Hitting lefties as a lefty is only one of his problems, he cant hit righties either. He has 117K in 379AB that is 30% of the time he Ks or if you look at his average. He is done, time to get someone else. If anyone really wants to fix this thing, Jose Valentin is the posterchild for whats wrong with the sox over the last few years. No defense, homer or nothing. Mike Jackson I am sure is a great leader but he cant pitch either.
  8. Its nice to see corpseball is in full effect today. We are getting one hit by junk. Garland is a number 5 starter and nothing more. Mike Jackson should hold a press conference after the game to retire. Joe Borchard and Joe Crede have the two slowest swings in all of baseball. They should start their swing just as the pitcher pivots on the pitcher plate.
  9. Maybe its the high socks, Billy Koch wore his socks up high like that. Garland will be great for a 5th starter. At least he will give us a chance half the time he goes up there. As a number 3 no way.
  10. Who cares again how many home runs our 225 ba hitting shortstop hits. If he hit the 25 home runs and say shortened his swing up with men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs like tonight to be a team player. Then keep him. But no, he is almost losing his lunch trying to park every pitch over the fence. We need a base hit and he is going for mars. Everyone thinks we need to change the team up because this formula doesnt work. But when you start to take some of these guys from the team everyone states well player A hits this many home runs. Watch the entire season and watch how many times mr 25 home runs failed to come through with men on because he either K'd or poped up trying to get a basehit late in a game with a home runs swing. How many times did he K 7 times in a row. How many times did he drop a ball to lose a game or kick one. For the few times he did hit a bit home run, there are other times were his electric glove, baserunning ability, or clutch contact lost us the game.
  11. Another chapter of stone hands valentin booting the potential game ending ground ball. I think the valentin apologists can argue about clutch home runs and home runs in general. Give me a SS who his 270 and has good defense and I will take that over watching stone hands kick the ball all over the field and almost fall over trying to park every pitch onto mars. He is a Pedro Cerrano/Rob Deer all wrapped up into a shortstops body. Who hits 225 anymore anyways, geez. Sox win another nail biter with a good lead going into the 9th. Atkins grooves a few down the cock and then stone hands kicks the ball all over the field and it sets up Lawton who hit a dong off of shingo last time. Shingo gets revenge and the sox win. Thanks for the drama at the end Atkins and stone hands.
  12. Well stone hands booted another game ending bouncer to short to allow the tieing man to come to the plate with 2 outs. I dont care if he hits a billion home runs, his 225 BA and his constant swinging for the fences and his piss poor defense needs to find another home.
  13. I just dont know what we have left to trade besides Borchard who KW has a man crush on and wont let go.
  14. Is tearing into the Whitesox for being swept. He is going into his usual rant.
  15. We shouldnt trade Sweeney unless the trade was really worth it. I was at spring training this year and this kid has a sweet swing. He was fearless. His swing is a reminder of Baines swing. He has gap power and once he fills in a bit could be a big star.
  16. If we got both of these guys and had Hariston leading off, and cantalantto hitting second that would change this big time. Hairston 2b Cantalanatto RF (Dont crucify me spelling police) Everett DH Lee LF Konerko 1B Valentin SS Rowand CF Crede 3b The three headed beast of Burke/Davis/Alomar at C Not bat at all. Hairston can get on and steal bases, Cant has good bat control and has a good average. Everett has been pretty good at hitting doubles and keeping the line moving. That would give Lee and Konerko and Valentin an opportunity to bash with men on. Rowand could be the saftey valve for Valentin striking out to rescue with men on and 2 out. Me likey, however I dont think we have anything to trade to get it. Please dont trade Sweeney. That guy is going to be a stud. I was at spring training this year and he was a stud, sweet swing reminds you of Baines.
  17. Baseball Prospectus projects Valdez to be a utility man. However his numbers warrant a serious look during september call ups. He makes contact, sprays the ball to all fields. Supposedly he is a plus bunter according to scouting reports. Sounds exactly like what Willie Harris is supposed to do at this level. His revival came under Guillens watch. His Arm is a plus and his defense is good. Why not bring this guy up to give us more of that grinder approach that we keep hearing about. I would like him to take more pitches and walk more, but you cant falter a guy who makes contact. Especially after this series debacle. What do you think? Wilson Valdez Stats split between marlins AAA and the sox AAA .327 BA 25 SB 416 AB 53Ks 18BB 2Hr 5 triples 14 doubles
  18. Maybe he should care about Valentin then, he is hitting below 240.
  19. Sounds like Ozzie figures he cant fix Uribe's pull only step in the bucket mentality. In May I thought this guy was going to be in the AllStar game with his level swing and hitting to all fields. Then he fell into the pull only mentality. Kind of sad, so much talent but no head.
  20. If Uribe would get back to what worked which was using a level swing and hitting to all fields he would be a better fit than Miles. However the stepping in the bucket, cheating on the fastball, dipping his back shoulder to get elevation Uribe is a disaster.
  21. Sox lineup for today Harris cf .266 Perez rf .257 Lee lf .304 Everett dh .256 Konerko 1B .289 Valentin SS .237 Uribe 2b .266 Crede 3b .236 Davis C .130 On the bench rowand .310 We have a game last night were people dont get on and we have a lot of guys trying to jack the ball. So today we take Arow out of the lineup, why? Ozzie is on AM1000 saying that Willie Harris and Uribe will come through and we dont need to make a trade. Well Ozzie if Harris actually takes the bat off his shoulder and attacks the ball like he did before instead of watching pitches down the middle and Uribe starts to hit to all fields instead of trying to pull the ball for the dong he may be right. But I dont see either happening.
  22. Harris has a problem not with his talent its with the melon between his ears. He goes up there timid, looking for the walk or trying to do a slap bunt. When he had his brief successful stint earlier this year, he was attacking the ball. Now he looks like he is out before he puts both feet in the box. That is why he can hit in the minors and struggle in the bigs. Its been the same thing with most of our prospects over the years. They do good and have the talent in the minors but struggle here because they lose confidence. Look at how he takes lead offs, he is almost glued to the bag. The guy is barely getting back on routine throws over. He has the speed but the noggin is definately not in place. The last guy to come up with guts and confidence was Buerhle.
  23. Who can we get to shore up the first part of the lineup. I dont want to sound like Jeckle but Rowand should be the number 2 hitter next year full time. Valdez the guy we got for Billy Chaos is hitting .342 in Charlotte. I know its a hitters park, but he doesnt exactly rip power numbers. He might be a better option when Harris doenst pay off. But we need to start to get some guys who have high on base and good averages to hit in front of the big boppers. I think with a leadoff hitter and rowand hitting second that is a good start. Anyone have any ideas on possible grinders we can get for next year.
