maryland's scout board administrator is reporting benn will select illinois tonight. i'm not a premium member, but those who are say the admin is citing sources close to him. if true, that's a nice, nice get for illinois. if he indeed comes, benn, juice, mendenhall, and cumberland will give illinois a heckuva offensive skill position talent corps.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Don't be surprised if Farakhan signs with the Illini before the early signing period ends next week. i'd be happy with that. he'd be a good addition i think. what do you think of bocot? just saw some video of him on mid-state hoops and he's an intriguing athlete. the questions seem to surround his attitude more than his ability.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) I enjoyed the episode, especially the surgery scene. It kept you wondering how Jack would try to take advantage of the situation, and there you go. I am just wondering why Kate or Sawyer didn't tell Jack that there was no escaping from the island? Also it will be interesting if it is the saying on the prayerstick that leads Locke to the rest of the crew. yeah. i wonder if the other island is "north." also, here's a story on the break the show is taking: usa today

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Especially after the Gordon and Rose fiasco's. I've always felt he was the #1 player regardless of baggage. He's like Dwayne Wade with a 3 point shot and just overall better. i've seen mayo, gordon, and rose play, and i would say mayo is slightly better. but really, it's a negligible difference. also, this is a good read... interesting article on the nature of basketball recruiting rankings

yeah, that story was interesting. i don't think there's a chance in hell that he chooses us, but frankly i wish they'd called earlier. i realize he comes with baggage, but he's the top player in the nation, plays a position illinois desperately needs, and has listed illinois from the beginning. again, a super, super long shot, but you gotta at least take a shot.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 8, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) I would not be mad if he changed his mind. i tend to doubt the veracity of the report, primarily because of the louisville mention. i know louisville was dar's top school for a long while, but i didn't think they had any schollies left after goode committed. i could be wrong, though. however, since jordan crawford (once thought an iu lock) is now delaying his announcement, maybe sampson is making a late push for tucker.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Nov 7, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) Giles is an idiot...goodbye idiot Why is an illini fan reading phog.net??? why not? i read a lot of other team's sites, especially this time of year when things are getting started and there's not a lot of good info about how teams are shaping up. and unlike many illini fans, i have no problem with self. i do have problems with people claiming he's the only reason they've enjoyed a nice run here, but that's an entirely separate issue.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) I think the bias he's referring to is the attempt to soften the blow or w/e for some Illini fans by inferring that Gordon is only claimed to be a talent because of playing with Rose. "Don't overlook the fact that Gordon wasn't considered the top player in the country until he played with Rose. Gordon, not Rose, benefited from the partnership." ok. that i could buy, although having read mike o'brien regularly since he came to the s-t, he has never been one to do anyone related to illinois any favors. i won't go so far to say he's anti-illinois, but he isn't going to go out of his way to make them look good. also i'll say that i totally disagree with what he said in this instance. gordon moved up the charts because he's a helluva player, nothing more.
-

if i'm reading this right and you are claiming that mike o'brien and the s-t is biased in favor of illinois, you must not read his stuff very often. if you did, you'd know that claiming he's biased in favor of illinois is borderline ridiculous. also, i'm not sure why it's "bias" or anything else to suggest that gordon wanted to play with rose more than the other way around. here's a quote from an indianapolis star reporter who pretty much says the same thing: link: indy star q and a

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) I thought he was radizinsky or whatever, the guy pushing the button two guys before Desmond. Also the video from Juliet absolutely blew my mind. Unreal. no doubt. i don't trust her at all. i think back to what sawyer said to kate about her after he tried his little break-out routine.

Hinrich re-signs with the Bulls
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) And my opinion differ from yours. Maybe if you did you would help someone out that didn't know any better instead of turning a blind eye to it and keep on letting the person look like an idiot. Resign and re-sign are two completely different words. Help someone out that is ignorant to that fact instead of letting it continue. How ridiculous is that? i was at work and typed fast. missed the hyphen. my bad. if you want to extrapolate that out to idiocy and ignorance rather than some haphazard typing, well that's certainly your prerogative. i'd guess most would see it differently. anyhow, great to see hinrich back.
