  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) He's a 32-year old journeyman reliever with a career ERA/WHIP of 5.31/1.62. 12 spring innings doesn't change the fact that he's not a ML caliber pitcher. I don't feel that bad for him. I'm not saying he should have made the team. Santos pitched well and they didn't want to risk losing him so I understand the reasons. Just was throwing stats out there. For the most part it strikes me as funny that plenty of pitchers and hitters make teams based on spring numbers no matter how small the sample size. Ok so maybe lots of them are younger with good minor league numbers. But when pitchers do bad we hear about the Arizona air and breaking balls not breaking and pitchers just getting in their work and when someone kicks ass its the sample size. Hope he does well in the minors . Extra good arms are always a plus.
  2. Greg Aquino did everything he could to make the team but didn't. 12.1 innings pitched , 0.00 ERA, 0.57 WHIP, 8K, 3 BB, .105 Avg. against . With Santos out of options he had no chance.
  3. Winner winner chicken dinner .
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Rios and Konerko successfully execute the Hit and Run. Paulie still couldn't get to 3rd base since it was hit to LF. Jenks in.
  5. AJ grounds out to short. Teahen crushes one but caught by Willits.
  6. Kotsay groundout ends inning.
  7. Q one of the few who hasn't got on base yet tonight.
  8. Beckham walks . Bags juiced for Q.
  9. Alexei base hit to right.
  10. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 07:58 PM) Oh i guarentee Juan Pierre will be bunting with a men at 1st, 2nd and nobody out 100 out of 100 times. But not with 2 strikes.
  11. AJ single up the middle hits 2nd base Jones scores 5-0 AJ out when throw home cut off and AJ caught between 1st and 2nd. Teahen pops out.
  12. Jones steal after a walk.
  13. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) That's the way this offense is going to work. So we better hope those things are executed well because we are going to be doing them whether we think it's right or not. Eh with this Angel's pitcher on the ropes Oz was just bailing him out. Doubt he'd do that during the regular season with the opposing pitcher struggling. Kotsay HR 2 rbi 2 for 2 tonight.
  14. Ozzie having fun so far giving away outs. Pierre thrown out stealing, Pierre bunting unsuccessfully with 2 strikes and Q grounding out on a 3-0 pitch.
  15. Way too many nice guys saying way too many nice things about Kotsay . What is wrong with all of you ? The venom spewed during game threads should be very entertaining. Just think of the possibilities when Kotsay , Jones, Vizquel , Pierre, and Linebrink are all in the same game !
  16. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) He'll be fine, but you'd think he lost his leg by the overreaction going on around here. I don't think showing concern over an individuals injury is an over reaction especially given it's serious nature. Mitchell has huge upside but this type of injury can lead to chronic problems. It could be the difference between having a Carl Crawford type player or a Dwayne Wise. In 9 AB's in spring training he already looked better than Wise ever did with 3 of his 4 hits being for extra bases.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) I can't see how its anything but bad. He misses a season at a time he needs experience. Running is a huge part of his game. What is the guarantee that he comes back anywhere near 100%? At a minimum, its something that sets him back a year. There's a decent chance it could be worse than that. I agree. He's the Sox #1 prospect in most opinions, a guy with huge upside. His spring play was only reaffirming what this guy could do when he concentrated on baseball. He had always played baseball and football. This was to be the year he became a baseball only guy. As others have mentioned , it's also a huge blow to the organization in regards to landing a big bat before the trade deadline. Good luck JM with hopes for a full recovery.
  18. De Aza run scoring single. Kotsay to 3rd De Aza takes 2nd on the throw. 4-3 Sox.
