  1. Maybe somehow you missed that it was because of what the new coaches wanted him to do and he applied it to become better. I don't know how far back you're talking about for him never really being known as a patient hitter considering he's only had 2 full seasons in the minors. He's a minor leaguer in the process of developing. It bothers me when people talk about prospects as if they are what they are . We should be pleased he's worked hard enough to get better rather than slapping labels on them.
  2. There's no such thing as a cheap veteran who is consistent enough to do as you suggest. They picked up cheap veterans Tauchman, Slater, Rojas and they all got injured. Anyone who cost over $5M they weren't signing. And even then a $10M per year player who is a little better expects a multi year contract when they are a free agent. What you suggested either does not exist or was not an option for Reinsdorf. If I was to make wishes I would've wished for a lot more than you did. They pretty much had the same chance of happening the past couple off seasons.
  3. I was clamoring but I have zero expectations. He's another player that deserved a shot like any other minor leaguer who does well enough to get called up . If he was a 1st or 2nd round pick he would've been in the Sox Top 30 a while ago. Despite the high K rate he's done very well and progressed swiftly . You can say it's because he's older but that happens when you play through the Covid years and 5 years of college ball. He's been coachable for the new staff , done things they suggested and has become even better. He may or may not make it but he is more prepared to take his hacks than he was last year . That's what I expect. There's no call to make predictions or have expectations. Just let it play out.
  4. To what lack of plate discipline are you speaking ?
  5. We'll see how long he stays up. Would be sweet if he could hit a 3 run bomb early.
  6. Yep Anyone who has that DVD now has video of the Pope in their home.
  7. Now I' Il have to check my White Sox DVD World Series Game 1 9th inning .
  8. We used to play Providence St. Mel way back when I went to Quigley South which no longer exists and is now a part of St.Rita on 79th and Western. This was the basketball team in the South Central Prep League. Maybe not the same school🤣. But Quigley South was a school that future priests went to .Quigley Preparatory Seminary South. I wouldn't be surprised if some my classmates or older brothers classmates knew him. I'll have to check my FB.
  9. Seriously ? Maybe next year he can throw out the 1st pitch 🤣
  10. Yes a game starts in 10 minutes. Davis Martin vs Kris Bubic .
  11. Hooray Hooray for the 8th of May, the 69th Day of March. I used to go an annual party that was held this day . So party hardy cheering for the Sox to win but not too much. The Sox are in a great position to get the number 1 draft pick. The priority is to not screw it up. The Rockies are not eligible for it since they had a top 5 pick last year. The last rebuild didn't get high enough picks. They won too much. You're welcome.
  12. I agree. Look at Venable . You can question his lineup or decision making all you want but he's got nothing to work with. Getz has no money to work with so he's reduced to signing AAAA types or veterans who had a bad year looking for playing time so they can keep getting a sweet payday. Even that $800K minimum wage is like hitting the lottery to working stiffs. You can't look good signing those types of players ever . Of course there are other things he does. He makes trades. Seems like he can make a good trade when he has a great player if the Crochet trade means anything. Prospects are a crapshoot in trade just like in the draft. The younger they are the more chances to fail or succeed they have. Scouting and development means more than ever . I guess that's why he hired people he thinks will help with that and revamped R & D and doing more internationally to attract more Dominicans. He's made internal changes that are very hard to judge for a number of years. Internationally players who make the majors and have some good years are key yet that could take years to know unless you get a guy like Tatis, Jr who blossomed very quickly .But the Sox only had him for a very short period of time before a smarter GM swiped him. Things like that tend to happen when you lack experience , or make personnel decisions on your own. Unfortunately 1st time GMs are Rookies too. The veteran GMs will try to pull the wool over your eyes . Trades will look really bad unless those young prospects produce immediately. Braden Montgomery, Meidroth , Teel , Gonzalez so far so good. Thorpe, Zavala, Iriarte not so good. Jeral Perez, Vargas, Albertus kind of a mixed bag right now but it looked really bad for a while. It does get frustrating for fans because there is just so much failure when all you bring in are failed MLB players looking to prove they belong. Good players make coaches look good, bad players make everyone look bad. Most of them aren't prospects any more but in their prime years those AAA types in their mid to late 20s with perhaps one or 2 last shots, while at their physical peak, to find the magic. It mostly never happens. Turning turds into silver is a tough way to get a good reputation. You're lucky even with their willingness to try new things to find a way to unlock the talent. The talent is just likely not good enough. We call it rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic for good reason. They all look the same and moving them around on a sinking ship isn't going to avert the disaster . It's hard to see a rhyme or reason most of the time when you focus on the terrible players , losses piling up and the movement or lack of movement of those chairs. It's a rinse and repeat cycle that still leaves us with that sinking, we're doomed, feeling.
  13. No need to rush things. It's a long season.Give everyone a chance to turn things around. Imagine the haul we'll get for Robert and the others once they get hot ! Obviously I'm being sarcastic. Apparently there's a problem. Apparently the budget is tied to attendance. Attendance depends on a winning or at least a youthful impactful product. But they still need to find ways to get more prospects. Robert needs to get and stay hot. For that to happen more often pitchers have to feel threatened by the hitter following him in order to stop walking him. I know that's not Vaughn. Pitchers know it's not Vaughn .Quero hasn't hit any HRs yet. They need a power hitter behind Robert and the closest thing the Sox have to that is Elko yet he remains in the minors while the Sox wait for his stats to cool down instead of giving him a reason to get excited and contribute and feel his improvement means something to a team struggling to score runs and win. And quite possibly also help Robert be better and get Sox fans a little more willing to show up when the weather is nicer. Can't say I blame anyone for not wanting to help JR, but maybe think of it as helping the future of the Sox and it's future owner. If there's room in the budget you can't beat fun at the old ballpark. I know it's more fun when the team you root for wins but if you're bringing young children they care more about just having fun with mom and dad. Of course a picnic at your local park is a lot less expensive. Bring a bat and a ball of some kind. Treasure those moments. They don't last long. We tend to get a little manic about our team .
  14. Yes I do but there is so little posting in the thread I thought a title change was more appropriate. Starting a new thread that hardly no one would post in didn't seem right. The 24-25 season is almost over .A few more rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs then the draft and off season .Thank u for changing it.
  15. At least the other threads in this Forum are using the correct year in the title.
  16. No one player should be thought of as a cure . When he's called up he'll be just another rookie doing his best to contribute. I know it wasn't you who called him medicine but whatever they were talking about in the post game show they should should say what they are talking about. Did they ever say what they meant ?
  17. In his defense there are not a lot of right buttons. It is what it is .In the 1st gamethread before the start of the game @Snopek and I said some things that so far would seem relatively simple to predict if you've been watching this team. Unfortunately we cannot be prescient in a good way. They're just following bad trends they have already established.
  18. So they're going to include him in the Robert trade ? 😉
  19. I recognized Will It Go Round in Circles by Billy Preston and I think some Emerson Lake and Palmer in that video. Did she ever play any part of Roundabout by Yes. Seems like she did.
  20. Weird how f and b WAR are the same for Lee but with Robert bWAR is .8 .That's a significant difference.
  21. I think the point was those 4 guys suck which is why they would want Robert, not that the Sox would take any of those 4 in a trade.
