  1. Im not sure what's so embarassing or funny about that quote. As owner, JR should be brought up to speed from his marketing department and GM about the on field and marketing implications involved with signing Murakami. This is something the Sox have never done before. This isnt Ohtani or LA so can anyone truly know how much this signing may mean as to increased revenue from various sources yet ? If it was expected to make that much of a difference why wouldn't someone else outbid the Sox ? Boyer is going to have to earn his money if there are Japanese sponsorships and advertising and season ticket revenue out there from the Murakami signing. This is just what corporations do before an unexpected major transaction since it all happened so quickly.
  2. The Imai market is moving very slow . Imai made a translated tweet yesterday that supposedly said that he's received 0 formal offers yet . He may not get $130M which seems to be your minimum expected salary. The length of the deal will surely be the determining factor. The starting pitcher market is slow developing and the general feeling among owners is that Cease got too much and some agents may be waiting to see what Imai gets before they finalize any deals for their clients. Owners may be trying to "correct" the SP market prices by keeping Imai years and AAV in the 4/5 years $22-25M range as an unproven arm. Doubt there's much chance the Sox can sneak into the Imai negotiations unless Ishbia truly is involved and I don't trust the 1 rumor that he was called by Getz after the Murakami signing. https://fansided.com/mlb/mlb-rumors-tatsuya-imai-shocker-tigers-bregman-bummer-red-sox-options
  3. 2023 he had a bad April but OPS'd over 1.000 in May and June. Maybe I should have said long odds instead of odds are agsinst it happening so everything youre saying is not lost on me. But I did also call it hoping for another Pope Miracle. I just think the situation calls for Getz to go for it as far as trying to get the best return possible. I also thinks it helps to have got the number 1 pick in the draft along with a large pool of draft money. It somewhat mitigated Getz just settling for the best of mediocre offers. We also disagree that a TDL return would only slightly improve IF his WAR and ISO got back to levels in 3 months of 2026 that we have not seen the last 2 seasons. Im also discounting my own JR factor cheapness level scenario that does not allow for paying both Murakami and Robert salary's .
  4. One other thing we have to be aware of if the Murakami signing was predicated on JR insisting that Robert money is at least halfway eliminated. I wouldnt put it past JR to insist a Robert trade be completed by opening day. Getz may not have the luxury of paying him and Murakami at the same time.
  5. Plus Mr.Source of Irritation talks out of both sides of his mouth. He has talked about Sosa's low baseball IQ as much as anyone here.
  6. I understand the doubts but the Sox really have no choice than to hang onto him at this point and hope the Pope miracles continue and he gets the kind of hands on approach in the off sesson they gave Colson in season. No one thought Crochet could stay healthy either or transition into what he became either. I know the odds are against him performing the way I said would make a difference in a trade. But in game power definitely has to show itself again while maintaining the plate discipline and fielding of last year. All that could result in 3 fWAR before entering July. Those kind of numbers would surely increase his value.
  7. Sox were 8th in MLB in HRs after the All- Star break and added the top power hitter in Japan. Baldwin also was a productive hitter in the 2nd half with an August slash of .270/.325/.459/.784 and a Sept./Oct. line of .268/.328/.500/.828 that covered 42 games & 141 plate appearences. That exactly the way you want to see a young hitter finish his 1st go round against MLB pitching who had a tough time of it in April & May. They sent him back down to Charlotte and in 29 games he hit 12 HRs with a massive 1.180 OPS.
  8. Im starting to think the chances of him being traded before opening day are slim. There's only one way they actually get what they want or more for Robert. He must stay healthy for the 1st 3 months of the season hit for power , ideally close to 15 HRs, and pile up at 2.5-3.0 fWAR by the end of June. Just let him hit and play great defense. He doesnt need to pile up stolen bases. I was hoping the Sox or Boras Corp. had recommended Robert Jr. to the Cressey Sports Performance facility in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. to prepare him for a healthy and productive season. That place has worked with a lot of professional athletes.
  9. I certainly have no problem with picking the best choice. My point was that it's possible another college player is the best choice. Of course you need a strong 2nd wave of players but ideally you want it to be closer to 2 years behind the 1st wave or main core with MLB debuts in 2027 or 2028 when guys like Teel, Montgomery and whoever else emerges are strong fixtures in the lineup. Braden Montgomery ,Antonacci , Bonemer perhaps followed by the 1:1 pick and later by Carlson or another college kid from the 2026 draft. Murakami might only be around until he's traded if he can emerge as a guy who removes the doubts that led the Sox to be able to sign him. That could keep some young prospects incoming who may already be in A ball who were HS draftees .
  10. Merry Christmas 2 all. And to all a good night !
  11. Maybe in China but plenty of free movie content in the states Might not be the newest releases but there are inexpensive ways to get those if youre into using digital codes here in the good ol' USA.
  12. Very good context. There's a lot of managing innings with young starting pitching. If you make some of these arguments fans vs. pitching coach , the fan gets blown out of the water .
  13. Proven true. Getz said Moonie about 20 times in the press conference.
  14. Cheap Trick at Budokan '78. Or you could go with Bob Dylan in '79.
  15. Im glad you use stats in your arguments. I'm weary of the haters usuall eye test BS generalitites and ghosts of White Sox past to extol predictions of woe. You ask for context, examples, stats, or reasons and you get "I dont need no stinking context" .
  16. Thats pretty cool. I didnt know that's been going on for 50 years in Japan.
  17. I try not to look too far ahead. I'm just enjoying watching the jigsaw puzzle being put together . Every piece forms a clearer picture . Build the framework , then fill it in see if what you got has a strong bond.
  18. How did he listen to you ? He just has continued doing the work he already started if you're claiming victory for the hire of Mr. Rodriguez. Please enlighted me as to how you are now claiming Getz listened to you ?? Did he suddening become acceptable now because he hired a guy from Tampa ? He's been upgrading international player developmment and player development in general for much of the last year+. All you did was go on a rant that sounded good in theory when youre ignorant of what's actually happening yet proclaiming we should all be unhappy about it. You gave no actual examples of what was wrong . All you said was fix everything behind the scenes and get ahead of the curve and stop accepting half assed measures which you couldn't name. Now 1 hire made you giddy ?
  19. Funny how in such a short period of time I picked the guy they actually signed and they got the number 1 pick in the draft and they hired an ex TB exec who has a very good resume to continue the good work Getz has already been doing building a foundation based on player development for far less than $160M. The tide has turned and the Fire Getz thread is long gone from the front page despite the many tears of the disenchanted amidst those coaches and players who have all bought into Getz' vision. My own vision was for the Sox to reestablish themselves in the Asian market ( early in this thread) and they did it and it didnt cost nearly as much as I anticipated. 1st time in 20 years. I didnt expect it to happen since it was a fantasy scenario thread with mystery money provided by the Ishbia's. Progress is happening. Everyone is now seeing it .
  20. Almost assuredly in true baseball fashion he'll be referred to as Moonie when his manager and teammates talk about him.
  21. Thats strange about college freshmen. Why are HS seniors eligible at presumably 18 yrs old but most 19 or 20 yr olds arent ? You'd think if you're good enough to play for a big time college program at those ages and excel that's more impressive than inflated HS numbers against what is usually far inferior pitching.
  22. I was dead wrong about his contract and you were as close as or closer than anyone when you said 3/$45M. Of course I never thougt the Sox had much of a chance at signing him because I also noted the Sox hadn't given out more than a 2 year contract since JR hired Getz. What puzzles me is there was a thread that talked about if you could sign a certain type of free agent ( I forget the parameters) who would you sign and I know I said Murakami. But despite searching I cannot find that thread. Maybe the whole thread got deleted if it degenerated into Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. It wasn't that long ago since it talked about the off season.
  23. Oh you used Murakami- Sama which means God. So now the Sox have the Pope and a God !
