Ok, I said he is hitting better than Robert and you just agreed with me so maybe you should tell me why my point is lousy ? Robert developed enough to have a superstar type year in 2023. I'm just asking questions about why he can't find that level any more . Give me some answers. Give me inside info from a source. We all can make wild guesses based on little more than the current ugly state of the franchise because well, Idk, umm, cuz Getz sucks ? Is your point that Robert is better because he has higher than a -.3 fWAR ? Actually I just looked up Baldwins fWAR and it's -.1.So far ,they're about equal in value to the team this year. Robert plays a great CF and is very fast , steals bases , has a nice walk rate so far yet his fWAR is a -.2. I have no doubt that when Robert remembers how to do the things he did in 2023 he'll be a better player than Baldwin. But right now no team will give up much value for him so he's not just worth roughly the same amount as Baldwin but he's also costing the Sox future value because he's got his head up his ass and it's all because of what exactly ? He wasn't developed properly after his Grade 2 right hip flexor strain that caused him to miss 62 games ? I'm just confused on why he's been so bad for his last nearly 500 AB since he came back from that injury ? So far this year he's making last year's performance look great in comparison. What have the Sox invested in him from the start ? $100M ? I just want a couple of decent prospects back for him. Theres still time for him to rediscover himself but he'll have to turn on the after burners for May , June and part of July to convince any team he's got his head on straight. -

That's more of a guess than a point isn't it ? I mean do they suddenly get healthier ? Do coaches and trainers drill it into the poor dumb players heads to train the right way and injuries stop being so plentiful ? Did Robert forget everything that happened in 2023 ? Is he mentally defeated ? Physically defeated ? A combination platter ? Why is a 12th rounder like Baldwin hitting better than our 5 tool superstar for 1 year ? Why are a bunch of AAAA players just as good as Robert right now ? Maybe picking players who develop enough to make it to the majors is just mostly a crap shoot . Some organizations draft better some develop position players better. Some develop pitchers better. Most well run organizations spend a lot of money, more scouts, more coaches, more data miners, more trainers, more computers , more equipment , more sales people , more public relations people . A well run organizations like the Dodgers says screw it let's just buy the best players a lot more than they develop stars. A well run organization like Tampa Bay crushes it. They draft ,develop, trade compete but ultimately success is short lived. No championships to show for it. Baltimore crushed it with huge amounts of talented position players and they're trending down. Answers are hard to come by unless you're a fan , then you know exactly what's wrong with no real knowledge lots of crystal ball gazing. Really what you just said is that drafting was just fine domestically and internationally if only the development people were better we would have crushed it ! -

You're not going to get slightly better caring about how another Sox fan decides to defend his favorite team are you ? That has about the same chance as writing JR a letter. We all expect slightly better. We may actually get it too even with the massive amounts of injuries throughout the system. Just remember you expect slightly better so anything above 41 wins your expectations will have been met. I doubt anyone will be apologizing to anyone . -

I think there is some merit to what you say. People are used to paying for their sports through cable and satellite and the sports packages offered by the league. If you're a cord cutter and many are you don't really expect to get free over the air sports unless you can get it through antenna or other more nefarious means. I'm not in Chicago but cord cutters are usually quite used to monkeying around with their smart TVs and various " other" methods to watch sports. I watched plenty of Hawks and White Sox games. Yes I'm usually a few minutes behind the live action and the picture quality is HD instead of 4K and the signal sometimes has to be rebooted often but free is free. And this is without using the advice you get about hiding your ISP through the use of a VPN. People are innovative which is just the opposite of lazy and stupid but I do agree that there are some people who just say f*** it and won't put the time or effort into it because it doesn't involve the ease of use that handing over your cash provides. Where there's a will there's a way .

You have to hope that whatever maturation process or strength building that Crochet transitioned to can be somehow duplicated in Taylor. No one besides me ever talks about this but physically Crochet got much bigger and stronger than when he was drafted and pitching in relief. I don't know if that was just natural growth into a men body or some combination of body maturation and rehabbing and strength building after Tommy John surgery. Whatever he did the question is can it be duplicated in other pitchers ? How players physically mature and gain strength gets way more scientific and investigative then by just knowing body types . Family medical history very important too. You pitch so much of your life in a boys body but then suddenly you are 20+ lbs heavier. This happen to men at different ages. You hear a lot of talk about players being in their prime in late 20s to early 30s when body and mind and experience all comes together . Sometimes you physically peak before you're mentally ready and vice versa. And just the pure talent needs a good mind to process and make necessary changes along the way with the calm needed to face your failures along the way. This is where you delve into character. Drafting and developing is actually just gathering as much info as you legally are allowed to physiologically and psychologically and being smart enough to know what to do with that info. The best at it make their best guesses because you have to have an intuitive sense of judging character and talent despite all the information you gather.

I think it's good baseball discussion about how we saw the play. Keaschall scored from 2nd mainly because as a fast heady base runner he saw Quero too far up the line to get back and Davis had his back turned to the plate also. If we were side by side we'd be like check the replay that shows the position of both Quero and Davis and you'd be like check the replay on Quero's throw. 🙂 I still hate the umps though . I'd rather blame them.

When you're as fast as he is, that wall comes at you awful fast. Better, if you have to lunge for it like he did, that you just catch it falling down rather than risk trying to regain your balance as you stumble towards the wall . Even with a padded wall those abrupt stops in an awkward position will do damage.
-
Pitcher should've been doing that. He was much closer to home after Quero made the throw and was standing there watching the throw instead of thinking about his fielding responsibilities. Any way, you look around MLB, not going to win many games scoring 1 or 2 runs a game . Sox have very few games scoring 4 , 5, or 6 runs. Usually it's 0-3 or 7+ runs. Not a whole lot of in between.

I don't think it's that. I think he knows the team is terrible and he's saving as much service time as possible trying to turn the turds into silver. That's been the plan since he took over. I've said it's a bad plan but likely his only option without spending money and few minor leaguers showing they're ready. I think he's too active too early in the off season. If you're going after bums might as well wait til teams DFA some younger guys or those with options and a glimmer of promise.
