  1. Jerry has cried poor for as long as I can remember. I don't understand why you would buy a ball team just to say you cannot afford it. I know he is in it to make money but would it kill him to please the fans of the team once in their lifetimes and go for the big one? I did a little research and as of 2002 (for the 2001 season) the Sox had a revenue close to 100 million. Jerry is constantly making money and not spending it and feeding us a line of bulls*** every time. The guy has the money and so do the investors. If they don't want to spend any money and make a good product to put on the field then they aren't maximizing their profits. Little do they understand that a product that is popular and desired is more profitable than one that is not desired and not very popular. They should think about it. Sorry, just my venting. After I read that Reiny had a firm that he sold for billions of dollars. I have a few exerpts from the interview I found pretty interesting..... About the '97 white flag trade.... And about him being an owner because he finds it fun and a challenge, not to make money... Sorry if I got a litle longwinded guys. Just letting you know what I found in a little of my research.
  2. I dunno, the Rangers are making a run at them..... Alex Rodriguez SS TEX Signed Dec 2000 - 10 years/$252M 2001: $21.0M^ (+$10.0M signing bonus paid between 2001-5) 2002: $21.0M* 2003: $21.0M~ 2004: $21.0M~ 2005: $25.0M* 2006: $25.0M* 2007: $27.0M* 2008: $27.0M~ 2009: $27.0M~ 2010: $27.0M~ -Deferred salary: ^$5M *$4M ~$3M deferred at 3% to 2011-2020 -Can void deal after 2007, 8 or 9. Guaranteed salary increase for 2009&10 -Numurous bonuses for MVP awards, All Star appearances, Gold Glove etc. Chan Ho Park RHP TEX Signed Dec 2001 - 5 years/$65M 2002: $11.0M 2003: $12.0M 2004: $13.0M 2005: $14.0M 2006: $15.0M -Can void deal after 2002 unless team pays additional $6M by Nov 10th Rafael Palmeiro TEX $45.0M over 5 years ('99-'03) and they traded away Everett to us this year. Granted they have some good young guns but they made some equally horrible contracts. It is pretty rough.
  3. Wunsch had a 1 year contract so it isn't exactly a big deal to worry about him and arbitration. He made like 575,000 last year. I don't think thats a big worry.
  4. Jeff Bagwell 1B HOU Signed Dec 2000 - 5 years/$85M 2002: $8.0M (+$15.0M signing bonus paid between 2002-6) 2003: $10.0M 2004: $13.0M 2005: $15.0M 2006: $17.0M 2007: Team option $18.0M or $7.0M buyout -Deferred salary for 2002 to 2006: $2M, $3M, $6M, $8M, $10M I think this one is interesting. Bagwell is pretty good....but not worth that kind fo money lol.
  5. Lol Aboz, why isn't this idiot just banned. I know its not the policy of the board to just ban people but this guy seems to be a straight up ass. I think we can live without him.
  6. I couldn't agree with thi smore. This is my feeling exactly. I have been telling people this for years and I personally think its bulls*** too. We are a large market treated like a AA team.
  7. Grady Littles option was not exercised in Boston. Linky here...... http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp
  8. Lol, we just get tired when the same stuff is rehashed all day. Just relax and stick to one post. No offense intended by anyone here sir.
  9. I agree, the season is just officially over and you have had like 30 posts regarding the same stuff. Don't burn us all out so early.
  10. Didn't you just make this post like 10 minutes ago with a different topic?
  11. All hail the new ruler of Aruba!!!
  12. I just saw a little talk with Dan Patrick and Gammons. Gammons said he heard rumors about Johnson/Soriano for Vasquze/Vidro and made some other comments. He said the Yanks are leery about Milwood and Colon as well as they will find a way to move Weaver. Gammons also mentioned that he thinks Weaver will win again when he is moved. Just a short segment but its always fun to talk about trade stuff.
  13. An article was posted earlier that Flash wants 5 mil a year and will most likely be gone so it will probably be young William, the american hero.
  14. I really doubt they are looking to spend a lot of cash when they are trying to dump one of the best closers in baseball.
  15. Problem with that is that Houston is trying to cut payroll right now. Who knows if they would splurge on a big free agent signing.
  16. I think he has strongly considered it now that Clemens will be gone as well as possibly Stottlemyre. He could be a FA and not want to go back to NY. If the Sox put together the right offer it would be interesting.
  17. Pettite had a 4 year $35 million dollar deal on his last contract. Similar to what the Sox are offering Colon. If Bart won't stay why not offer it to Andy? He is a big game pitcher, knows how to get the job done in the post season and regular season, can handle the limelight.....best of all he is a lefty.
  18. I don't blame him. Seems a lot of former Chicago players don't want to go back once they are out of town.
  19. Don't want to be an ass or anything Beastley but, how many of these style of posts do you plan to make? Just want to know so I can prepare myself for it.
