QUOTE(GOD @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Ozzie has been pulling all this s*** the whole time he's been here. Anyone remember Timo Perez in 05, and we shoul have gotten rid of Uribe and his .230 average years ago but he hables espanol so we have to keep him. Yeah, I'm sure KW's REAL concerned about the team's proficiency in Spanish...

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 18, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) I cant even believe that this loss was Ozzie's fault. Its the f***ing players for god sakes, we lost a game, get the f*** over it. Wrong thread? Otherwise, which post are you responding to?

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 18, 2007 -> 08:29 PM) now this little thing is going to turn into a media frenzy... I could see the Headlines tomorrow in the sports section: "White Sox manager supporter of the KKK, swears at a white radio host" This'll die down fast. All he really did was curse. Who f***ing cares? AJ, on the other hand, has to learn how to deal with the fact that his backup doesn't suck. At least, hopefully doesn't.

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 18, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) Interestingly enough, he's done a pretty decent job for the Royals recently as their closer. I actually like Riske, but you might want to look at his recent history a little...closer. Pun SO intended.

Crede hit in face with baseball during BP today
jackie hayes replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Okay, and for the record I did get a laugh, but so what? Unless your nose is broken, what's the big deal? He couldn't play because of a boo-boo? -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 18, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) The thing with Ozzie is this... Fine MacDougal blows the f***ing game, you're down 1...ok. BUT HOW DO YOU SEND HIM BACK OUT IN THE 8TH? That much I agree with. That was just a bizarre call, with a struggling reliever late in a close game. It wasn't the difference, but it was just a poor decision.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) We aren't talking about 5 million dollars. In 2006 the social security fund ran a $181.3 billion surplus. That would take eliminating all of the US's education and transportation funding and still needing to find another $15 to $20 billion dollars. We are talking about something like 6-7% of the entire federal government budget. You aren't going to do that by eliminating little pork projects. What you are talking about would be closing entire sectors of government. This is all true. I just want to add (on the other side of the ledger) that it's not like the government wouldn't find lenders if SS no longer invested in government bonds. If SS invested in corporate bonds (say -- assuming the law were changed to allow that), many current corporate bond investors would switch to govt bonds. The govt's credit is good, they'll get the money they want (for now, at least). The federal govt is responsible for both SS and the rest of the budget. For some accounting tricks it's nice to pretend they are separate, but the distinction is just technical.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2007 -> 12:15 PM) So far, you've labeled me as a moron, retarded, and that I deserved to be punched. And I am not the only one who sees it this way. Not makin' a lot of friends. Hey, I agree with you on something! The Sox-Cubs rivalry is perennial. Even when the teams played just one exhibition game, it was important. And it doesn't matter how good or how bad either team is -- it just IS important. That's how I think of a rivalry -- how important is it in isolation? Not by the influence it has on your team reaching the playoffs. Cheers, A proud moron

QUOTE(fathom @ May 18, 2007 -> 01:01 PM) What did AJ say? It's a pretty short interview, and it's on 670's website. Basically just that he's "disappointed", "surprised", "frustrated", doesn't need a rest ("How come noone asked me?")...but "I don't make the lineup". Funniest thing is how much North thinks of himself. "Who do you think you're talking to?" Lof'nl.

Morgan Ensberg doing his best Carlton Fisk on a ball that was kinda really foul. Pretty funny. Astros lose when he eventually strikes out.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 17, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) Mine too, and now it won't work at all. I emailed twice and called. Just got the standard bs. Still happening, though. Every single commercial break. At least I'm not getting the Dick's commercial when I restart, though.

QUOTE(spiderman @ May 17, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) This was in today's SunTimes, Williams talking about Sweeney: ''That kid's not going anywhere,'' Williams said. ''It takes a long time to get mature -- I'm talking about baseball mature. And he is right now. ''We're going to let him ride that out, let him play and see how far he can take it. It's always a plus when you can develop your own talent. He not only has shown that he can hit at this level but has come up with the big hit. We'll let it ride with him, see where it takes us.'' Thanks, I didn't see that. If he's on the ML team when Pods returns, he had better be starting. It may be ugly around here if Sweeney is sent down in any case, but I'll blow a f'n gasket if he's rotting on the bench.

I've heard that Tiger is one hell of an athlete. Anyway, a baseball player shouldn't throw stones regarding the athleticism of a particular sport. Not with Ponson showing up here and there. And THERE.

QUOTE(spiderman @ May 17, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) Kenny Williams has indicated that Ryan Sweeney wll be up here to stay, but if he does continue to struggle at the plate, I could see a reversal of that judgement. For the Cubs series this weekend, there's really no reason to bring Thome back. He'd only be a pinch hitter, and with close games that this series usually produces, we will need extra players who can play the field. When did he say that? What did I miss? If Sweeney stays, that better mean Pods is on the bench when he returns. I find it difficult to imagine that, however.

QUOTE(Brian @ May 17, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) Anybody else who has MLB.TV sick of the Dick's SPorting Goods commercial they play every break? Especially the dumb Yankee fans saying, "It's about doing what it takes to win!" Beyond sick. Tonight my connection is cutting out a lot, so I get it every time I restart, besides every regular game break. I just wrote an email to MLB a half hour ago, which will accomplish nothing, but is at least cathartic. I'm more annoyed by the Boston fan. "Neva eva." Just had to restart again, mfers. There's not a single West Coast team in the commercial -- I'm wondering if everyone sees the same spot. Edit: Actually, my connection is cutting off EVERY COMMERCIAL BREAK. This is really starting to annoy me.

QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ May 17, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) It is painful to follow the Twins these days Santana had 11k's and gave up four hits Only 2 of those hits were HR and thats all the opponets need these days to defeat this punchless club Actually, that was 1 more than they needed.

Anyone heard the Lastings Milledge rap song? It's suddenly unavailable on the official website...

Amanda Beard to pose in Playboy

QUOTE(Brian @ May 15, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) Why didn't you quote my "or shoved down our throats"? Right... Uh, perhaps because I was only responding to the part I quoted? I wouldn't say she's been "shoved down our throats", but anyone who thinks she isn't publicized must have slept through the last Olympics, and missed the SI pics, and the FHM pics, etc etc etc. -

World Series to start on a Wednesday
jackie hayes replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in The Diamond Club
It's really getting out of control, though. They've talked about a 7-game divisional series. Next we'll have more wildcards, pretty soon the WS is opening the day before Thanksgiving. -
NYTimes link. A sprinter with two prosthetic legs wants the chance to compete in the Olympic games. Current regulations would disqualify him. Fair or not?
-
Personally, I'd go with Harden. You know what you're getting with Penny, but I think this early in the season you try to hit the home run. And, as ChW said, Penny tends to fade.
-
I know it's been said before, but I have to -- JJ Hardy, wtf?!

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 14, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) Who exactly would that be this season? The age-old dilemma -- to answer or not answer the rhetorical question? Iguchi'll revert. If we structured the lineup according to this year's numbers, Pods would hit 3rd on his return.
