Arggh. To the bottom of the 9th, 2-2. Hate to see the Twins get a walk off to send them on their road trip.

QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 02:12 PM) I hope, at least, this game goes to like 20 innings before the Twins head out on that 10 game road trip. That would be nice. I'd take a Twins loss in 9 innings over a Twins win in 20 innings. Arms are expendable at this point with just a bit left in the season. Plenty of rest in October if you don't make the playoffs.
-
OK...KC please scratch a run across and turn it over to Soria for the 9th.
-
QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 02:06 PM) The Royals are bad. Ball bounces of German's glove. Mauer with a 2 base error. Oh well, 1/2 game lead. Sox will have to suck it up with the walking wounded and pull one out tonight.
-
Jeebus Maura and Jose it seems like Mauer and Morneau are up every inning.
-
Dejesus broke up the consecutive retired streak and then Liriano rolled over Aviles and Guillen. Bottom of the 8th 2-2.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) Ron Mahay is actually a halfway decent pitcher. I'm surprised he wasnt traded to a team needing/wanting a lefty Agreed...I wonder if the Royals asked to much. Would love to have him in the Sox pen to fill the Boone Logan role.
-
Gamecase cracks me up...on a pitch last inning, the strike zone said it was pretty much right down the middle but was called a ball. If the Ump had seen it, they'd throw the person running gamecast out of the ballpark.
-
Liriano hardly breaking a sweat....meanwhile, our midseason replacement lefty starter gave up a million runs against KC when he faced them.
-
QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 01:36 PM) Mahay in, but he's got to pitch out of a jam. And he did, thank you very much. On to the 7th.
-
Duckworth's 3rd trip through the lineup....can't be good. Mahay in, but he's got to pitch out of a jam.
-
Ugh...Liriano now breezing through the Royals lineup...65 or so pitches through 5 innings and looks like he could go deep and avoid the bad part of the Twins bullpen. Any kind of lead for the Twins and this thing is over.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) I edit slightly so my answer isn't led too far astray. At this point in the season, teams are trying to eliminate as much chance as possible. The devil you know is preferably to guesses. Chance of Richard sucking....100% Chance of Broadway sucking....90% A 10% chance of not sucking isn't much chance at all. I'd give the ball to Egbert, Poreda...anyone.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) royals already got 5 hits on liriano in the 3rd, 4 for extra bases... Problem is that the Royals have Duckworth pitching...
-
1st and 2nd nobody out for the Twins in the bottom of the 2nd. The Sox would DP / weak fly ball their way out of the inning... The Twins will probably put 4 up and put the game away.
-
I don't understand why Egbert isn't called up and given a chance. He improved in the second half after a bad start and keeps the ball on the ground...gave up 40% fewer homers than Broadway had 16 more Ks than Broadway in 16 fewer innings. It's not like either of them have any overpowering stuff..they are very similar except that Egbert keeps the ball down a bit more and misses a bit more bats.

9/9: White Sox vs Blue Jays, DH G1: 1:05, CSN

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) Ozzie clearly doesn't look at matchups. Toby Hall actually hits Burnett well, too. Of course, Swisher was 4-40 against Lackey...now 5-43 after Saturday. Toby Hall .958 OPS against Burnett in 9 plate appearances AJ Pierzynski .258 OPS against Burnet in 12 plate appearance. I dunno but I play Hall here and Litsch in the nightcap, although AJ is ofer against Litsch (Hall hasnt faced Litsch). -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) Lineup: OC - SS AJP - C Dye - RF Thome PK - 1b Junior - CF Alexei - 2B Swish - LF Uribe - 3B if AJ is 1-11 lifetime vs. Burnett, shouldnt he be playing the 2nd game instead? Ozzie clearly doesn't look at matchups. Toby Hall actually hits Burnett well, too. Of course, Swisher was 4-40 against Lackey...now 5-43 after Saturday. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) so i assume this means toby will be starting one of the games. and griffey won't be able to play both. Toby should start vs. Burnett. AJ is 1-22 against him. In addition, the Jays are a station to station team, so he doesn't kill you on the basepaths. -

There will literally be hundreds in attendance for the day game tomorrow! -
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 05:25 PM) Barring a rotation switch up, we miss Liriano. Kind of looks that way. Tomorrow is one of only two days off the Twins have before the Sox series (also helps the Sox a bit) and they won't have a change to move their rotation around enough to get him in there. Right now, he's scheduled to pitch the last game of the Tampa Bay series, so I guess they could have him pitch on three days' rest for the third game of the series, replacing Slowey...but Slowey's been too good against the Sox - why skip Slowey for Liriano? If I were them, I'd skip Blackburn in the rotation right now so it would set up for the Sox series so that it was Perkins / Slowey / Liriano. They'd both be pitching on full (4) days' rest with the help of the day off before the White Sox series. But they'd have to do it now, unless you wanted to skip Slowey / Liriano somewhere in between. I don't think they'd want to do that.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) Hawk is exaggerating, but this ump has been awful. He has been fairly one sided. I felt like Saunders was getting pitches Danks and Ramirez was not. Meanwhile, the Sox will have to give K Rod another blown save. Two blown saves in a row is a bit much to ask for IMHO.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) f***ing Whoracio! I thought he had pretty good location but had to throw to a teacup strikezone. He can't be forced to throw strike 3-1, 2-0, 3-2.
-
Assuming they bring in Arredondo, I think I hit AJ here and let Thome hit for Anderson if anyone is on.
-
I think I let it drop, but I dunno. Lefties do kill Wasserman.
