  1. I want to thank knightni for all the hard work he put into managing the PTC. He can't do it anymore and has asked me if I want to manage the topic this season. I want to help out and I found this activity to be lots of fun. So I will gather up the rules to post for participants and give it a shot.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:32 PM) It'd be real nice to add some room here. This will be a long season if Dunn and Konerko don't start hitting
  3. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:29 PM) May end up being the better choice against Moose. Take that back right now!
  4. Nate just wanted to get to this Mouustache guy as he doesn't have a hit all season yet
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) Just once I'd love to see Dunn put one down. Gordon could have walked home. He needs to go to left more when appropriate to drive in some easy runs and get his average up this year. But being jammed is not the way to push it to left
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) All times Central: Wednesday 4/3: 1:10pm vs KC, WGN Sunday 4/7: 1:10pm vs SEA, WGN Tuesday 4/9: 6:05 pm @WAS, MLBN (Los Angeles and San Diego only) Friday 4/12: 6:05 pm @ CLE, WGN Saturday 4/20: 2:05 pm vs MIN, FOX (Regional) Sunday 4/21: 1:10 pm vs MIN, WGN Wednesday 4/24: 1:10 pm vs CLE, WGN Sunday 4/28: 1:10 pm vs TB, WGN Thank you
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:09 AM) Let's do this! Pick to click today- Tyler Flowers Also, watch out for Alcides Escobar. Absolutely owns Chris Sale. If knight does PTC retroactive to todays game I am picking Dunn for the opener
  8. There isn't any voting choice about "so what". I am not arguing that Verlander is probably the premier right handed pitcher in at least the AL, if not baseball, but I am not sure of spending this kind of money for that number of years is good business. Of course it is if Detroit wins it all every year
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:19 AM) What if I'm wrong? They could easily afford another $30M on this payroll. No you have a point if spending money on one player ors maybe two is the right way to go. I just look at A-Rod and J Santana and others being paid lots of money to sit out with injuries. Johan Santana's is not covered by insurance according to the Mets. I prefer spending less to fill spots with talented types needing a chance to show what they can do and by building from within. Not quite a Bill Veeck approach but similar
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka 8h Three pitchers this spring have 10+ IP and no earned runs. Brian Omogrosso (12.1), Michael Wacha (11.2) & Pedro Hernandez!(11.0) Omo has impressed
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) Hawk and Steve praising the coaching staff--ok, great. How are we getting that 89th win this year? They do get carried away in the moment don't they. But, as Hawk is fond of telling us he has a hundred years of experience, or some number of years
  12. Watched the game. It was a good win. Sale looked good as did a number of the hitters
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) Still no Rios. I think Ventura said if he's not ready Wednesday, then it's time to start worrying. http://baseballpress.com/lineup.php Game on the MLB Network today
  14. QUOTE (SAVVY18 @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 09:23 PM) In case you care, Sox losing 6-1 Middle of 4th. The sky has fallen
  15. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) 8 games back in the Cactus League...time to panic? Well, we still seem not to be able to beat the Royals
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Wow. That just made me feel all tingly inside. Maybe there is hope for John Danks after all
  17. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 11:20 PM) not real high on wise as our 4th outfielder. I guess paying him what they are paying must have played into that decision somewhat. He can field and everyone remembers "the catch"
  18. I think John Danks is on schedule. Maybe not the schedule we as fans want, or even what Danks wants, but I think it is realistic to think he needs more time to get his strength back in that shoulder and arm. If he needs more time I think it's good that he misses cold weather and is back like the end of April or first part of May.
  19. Good for you Marcus. Don't forget us now that you are famous
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 12:12 AM) Jordan Danks and Tekotte sent down to Charlotte. 34 left. Jordan gave it a pretty good shot
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) Another funny thing, Marty wanted the Sox to sign Grienke. He's going on the DL and was a lot more expensive than Danks. Even if he got what he wanted, he would have complained. yes, but we are talking Danks here not Grienke so really why mention Marty amd his wishes here at all. Hopefully by mid-April or early May Danks is strong enough and sharp enought to take his spot in the rotation.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 05:34 PM) Calling Floyd a mental midget and worse? Man there are a lot of racists in this thread. I don't understand it myself. I can accept that some might want a player traded, released, etc, or just don't think they are a good fit, but name calling and such seems too much. I also think folks ought to satrt thinking of the alternative and the replacement and make a rational argument instead of so much hyperbole
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) If you could have, this team would still have Jermaine Dye on it. And you would have everyone traded
  24. I think that after Gavin got some positive feedback last year on some adjustment(s) in his delivery and did well that we see winning results this year. I for one would have no problem with keeping him beyond this contract.
