  1. Things Adam Dunn said about him when Dunn was interviewed by John Kruk yesterday were prtetty funny too
  2. Ok all you out of towners get ready for a great TV matchup & all you local Chicago folks should crowd that stadium... Sales versus Verlander on national TV unless the Tigers blink
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 04:51 PM) I haven't. An individual pitch here or there where he guesses and gets lucky, sure. But this is a stretch of a couple weeks now where I have seen him do it quite a few times. I haven't seen that since 2009. Have you? He has hit the ball hard. Before they were being caught. He has gotten some nice hits lately and that's good
  4. I saw the game on ESPN last night. We got some guys ready to bang it out. Rios was right on the nail everytime and Beckham looked good too. Sale was so impressive. I loved the look on his face as he was pitching. He was zeroed in and bringing it.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 05:27 AM) The Tigers have only won 60% of Verlander's starts. No way he's in the Top 3 right now...and the Tigers are in 2nd place. This I agree with. Verlander is one of the top 5 in this league for sure but neither he nor the Tigers have been dominating. I think it is a run bedtween Price, Weaver and Sale with Feliz possibly in the mix.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) And getting fellated for it. Excuse me?!
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) There are probably 5 or 6 posters who if you listed who or what they thought didn't suck White Sox related, the list would be maybe 2 names/things long. It's a sad thing to think about but you are right
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) Again, notice the last point. Gordon Beckham is at the very least still out-performing his salary. You can put together a winning team with the #4 offense in the AL with Gordon Beckham at 2b (and that's with the 1/3 of a season debacle we had at 3b as well). If your definition of saying that a player sucks includes that level of performance, then to me, your definition of suckiness has no meaning. Rather, it's just getting used on a guy you're frustrated with for his lack of development. If this is who Gordon Beckham is, then it's tolerable. We can win with Gordon Beckham being the #9 hitter and doing this. He'd actually be a better-than-average #9 hitter in the AL these days. I can live with that for another year. We have other needs that are bigger. But, Balta they all want Babe Ruth clones 1-9 and Sandy Koufax 1-5 in the starting rotation. Plus in the remote chance we will need a relief pitcher they want Mariano Rivera.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 06:01 AM) Greg would be a fascinating political analyst. It'd be like combining Al Davis and Hawk. I'd pay to see that
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) In regular season play, #WhiteSox improve to 228-34 when hitting a grand slam (266th grand slam; they've hit 2 GS in 4 games); 28-1 last 29 Let's get another one tonight
  11. QUOTE (McDude @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) I don't quite get why everyone on here defends the likes of Alexei Ramirez and Gordon Beckham. They're replaceable. Regardless of their defense. The game is won at the plate. Good pitching negates good hitting and a good defense saves runs from scoring. Having a good bat is certainly a plus but look at Sox history is all you have to do. 1967 with great pitching almost took us to the World Series and 1977 with a good offense but bad pitching led to our downfall. Now having all three is not a bad thing
  12. Nick Swisher is a pretty good player. He worshiped the Big Hurt when both played at Oakland. But, Swisher can grate on you quickly if you let him
  13. winning is always better than losing. We need to win so that on Wed night we see a Sox sweep over ESPN. I will be there
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) Apparently Gordo's dog died last night. If this is true I am deeply saddened for Gordon. I love dogs and am a pet owner myself. They are sure part of the family
  15. The game tonight is listed as the back up game on MLB-network
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 01:25 PM) Stay hot Wise...but not so hot that they become convinced you should lead off for this team next year. Wisze is doing a real good job so far. But, he is a travelling man and I doubt he will be here next year
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 01:43 AM) Freddy continuing the trend of mediocre starters dominating the Sox. When did Freddy become a strike out pitcher. Oh yeah he's pitching against the Sox
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:51 PM) Have a solid first 2 innings Gavin. Apparently Gavin Floyd did not listen to us Balta
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) "Dick Allen" - I respect your adoration for all things Sox, but there's a lot of data suggesting Gordon Beckham is a truly s***ty baseball player. You can twist data to mean anything you want it to.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 07:13 PM) Out of curiosity, what do you consider "fine"? This is his 4th straight season of offensive decline. Even if he returned to his 2010 form, that's still a below average hitter. I could turn that question around to the naysayers on this site. Gordon Bewckham was rushed to the majors and in his 4 years had to learn basically two new positions over his original college SS days. Gordon Beckham has shown the ability all he needs is the confidence. I am not aure you can expect a turnaround during reguar season but hed does work on improving. The glove is super. I think at the very least the off season will give him a chance to get straightened out
  21. Gavin needs to make it thgrough the first couple innings without getting hammered and we have a good chance
