QUOTE (balfanman @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) Well, if De Aza is getting the day off Wise would be or best option. I like Wise but what is wrong with Danks? He can sure go get the ball

QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 07:32 AM) That's true and rookie relievers are more apt to blow some due to inexperience. They won't always be rookies and won't always be inexperienced. Oh yeah, veteran reievers also blow games. Correct and I was actually intending to change that from "rookie" to any "relief pitcher ". Takes a pitcher with a special make up to step into these high pressure situations and pedrform. I think Reed is going to be pretty darn good
-
I can't imagine any team giving him $22M to pick up next year, but if he is willing to negotiate I think the Sox and Peavy are a good fit

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 12:36 AM) Pretty cool that it was on MLBN today. I had to watch the Yankmees

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 10:45 PM) Yay! I'll take 9 of 12 vs. KC and Minnie. That's the ticket to winning the division or part of the ticket. I wish we could shake Detroit. We're 10 over .500. 20 over would put the Tabbies in their place once and for all. Welcome to the world of Soxtalk.com controversy, elrockin. I always get into it with the folks on here; you never do. Now you are getting disagreed with. Welcome to the hot seat; I am enjoying being off the hot seat a while. And it's not like I was being overly critical as much as making an observation. We woin and I am happy. I am happy that Reed pulled it through but you can't keep giving up walks and hits in the final inning of a save situation without it biting you in the rear someday. He and other rookie Sox relievers have blown some games

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) Predictable open firing here on Reed, but really he's a closer and I don't have expectations for him to be 'special' There are some elite closers but we have just another one of those guys who walks a tightrope. The nice thing about Reed though is capacity for improvement, which you can't say about the other guys. Everyone here would love an elite guy to materialize, but you have to sometimes take some lumps to get to that point. The whole Jenks thing in '05 spoiled everyone and deluded many I do not disagree with your observations. He hung in there and won the game.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) The double was a bloop that should have been a single at worst, and the ump squeezed him with Valencia. He pitched well today, end of story IMO. I agree he was getting squeezed

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) This 100%. It should be an automatic response to anyone who just looks at the box score. Read the box score and all you see is numbers. I don't much carfe if it was a bloop or not it was ahit and then there was a walk and two stolen bases
-
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Yeah, blowing that save sucked. Read my post and then make your comment in response. Yes, he got the save and that's great. But, a closer comes in and shuts the door. You can't keep living on the edge casue it will come back to bite you
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:07 PM) He gave up 1 hit and got 4 outs in the inning. A double and a walk and two stolen bases and put the tying and winning runs in scoring position. But, getting 4 outs in an inning is good. Sorry I miss your point

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Good job Addison. Not to rain on our parade bu it wasn't all that good of a job by Reed. It seems to always be a nail biter when he comes in lately but I gues the silver lining is he doesn't panic usually and give up that big hit with runner son - usually that is. Great job by Peavy to settle in after a couple shaky opening innings.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) Hudson is just an absolute waste of a roster spot right now. Frustrating they didn't make one more move yesterday to improve the bench. I did think that was going to be a move they made too
-
Peavy has given up the long ball again. Ok score is 2-1 Minny which means our one run may be be all the offense generates as usual when Jake is on the hill. Hopefully they do better this time around and he holds the Twins
-
I still don't like the Twins. I hope Jake has a great game. Don't want to hear anymore of this stuff about "I didn't feel good out there today" from him. We need A plus efforts every game from now on. DO IT!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) Would you give a guy with an ERA > 5 for 3 of the last 4 seasons a 3/$30 contract? What money are we talking here? We certainly do get excited over one game don't we?
-
I note that Blackburn has only two K's to his crdit tonight and they are both on Adam Dunn. Dunn will be in aslump for a couple games. NO PTC
-
Blackburn is lucky to hit 90 MPH with his fastball and we can't get any hits
