White Sox/Tigers head to head, who do you take?
elrockinMT replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien White Sox have allowed 14 unearned runs, fewest in AL. On pace for 2nd fewest in full season since 1920. (Detroit Free Press) The Tigers have allowed 46 unearned runs, tied for most in American League. I may not remember the stat correctly but last night MLB-network showed the Sox with only 37 errors I think? -
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 03:17 AM) Y couldn't Youkilis just man up and demand a pinch hit AB instead of just sitting on the bench. Cause you don't tell the manager what to do maybe?!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) All of the decision making looks bad right now because everyone out of the pen has been awful for about a week now. I know everyone is on Thornton, but he isn't the one that gave up the 12th 600 ft 3 run homer to Cody Ross either. Thornton struggled. Septimo got his ass kicked and couldn't find the strike zone against Boston last time around. Santiago gave up multiple runs against Boston in this series too. You could say Quintana, but then again I remember a lot of people complaining about Sale throwing too many pitches... Q's career high in innings is almost identical to Sale's numbers from college. There aren't a lot of choices when all of your choices are pitching like Will Ohman. For the most pasrt I am going to agree with you here. The relief corps is struggling and games like this magnify our situation. We have a bullpen full of rookies. I always question managers taking pitchers out after 7 or 8 strong and in some cases dominating innings and going to the pen. Thornton has struggled giving up at least 5 hits in the last inning and third or so he has worked. He gave up two hits to lefthanded batters. When he gave up that first hit I thought to myself here we go again. Nightmares of Billy Koch and Bobby Jenks, et al. It's over. Maybe we go forward with a more experienced relief pitcher coming here via trade, but there isn't a lot of options out there and I don't want to start tearing apart the farm system again and over pay. Crain coming back may help. Whatever we do we move on as there is nothing else to do. I hope the offense is ready to produce in Detroit. I hope the starters do their job and the bullpen steps up. We face Verlander tonight but all we have to do is score one more run then they do. Let's do it!

19/7 - White Sox @ Red Sox: Split to play for

Game on MLB Netwrok tonight. See you all behind that big screen -
QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) Rookie carousel continues. Why Veal instead of Marinez? I may be wrong but I don't think Veal is a rookie. I believe he has some big league experience. How effective he was is unknown

I just kind of feel that this is what we get when you have 8-9 or 10 rookies on the pitching staff. They are learning and you have to take the good with the bad. Now Santiago has a great upside in my opinion, but was he pushed too quickly? I mean what did he have something like seven innings last season? But, we have seen other rookie pitchers do good and then look bad. How this situation developed with Santiago and with the others is quite amazing when you consider we didn't expect to go anywhere this year. But, we are in 1st place and that is due in no small way to how the rookies have performed.

I thank the Mods for policing this issue. Civility and respect towards one another is important. Good healthy debate is something we can respect but some of these posts go way overboard and are sometimes downright insulting. We don't need that type of stuff on this site.

Just checked in and guess Pedro is not the starting pitching answer

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) Guy in White Sox Jersey in 2nd row down the RF line just into HR territory = me. Good show please, Pedro. Go for it balta! Good for you. Are you there on Thursday too?

QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) After last night's win, for which I'm sure we're all greatful, I trust Heads22 will be doing his bit and following the game again tonight? I take credit for last night. I was going to change my PTC from the Youk to PK but didn't. The Youkers rewarded me/us

Should be a good game tonight. Rooting for the latest rookie to show what he has

Morel to start rehab stint with Bristol
elrockinMT replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Morel most likely stays in the minors until September. He needs more than a rehab stint to get his batting groove back. Plus what do you think about his Sox future? Trade bait maybe or will the Youk be gone after a year and Morel back at third? Hudson doesn't seem to be the answer and I don't buy the left handed bat thing with the Oh-Dawg. You can bat upside down and if you can't hit anymore you can't hit anymore period -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:25 AM) So over the past two days that is 12.2 IP by the starters, and 3ER. We shall not talk about the lefties out of the pen, though Thornton had only one ball hit hard against him. What I attribute this issue of our relief pitchers getting banged around some is more the All-Star break then anything. Pitchers needs to pitch on a regular routine to stay sharp. Thonton didn't throw for maybe a week correct? Make some close mistakes with pitches because you aren't sharp and you get hit. Next game he probably is right on. I hope that goes for the others too

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) Humber took Floyd's spot on the roster. I assume someone like Marinez or Omogrosso gets sent down for Hernandez? And Hernandez back down when Floyd is good to go
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 10:14 PM) Probably the main reason is that he just came off the DL and would have been on short rest, as well. Maybe they feel the LHP against the Red Sox gives them an advantage, vis a vis a RHP. Maybe he and Mitchell are the trade centerpieces and they want to keep him in the minors and not expose him to getting roughed up by Boston and diminishing his perceived value a bit. I think the real reason is they hope this is a one game deal and Floyd will be back on July 23rd. Hernandez being a lefty might help but he is probably the one most rested

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) Paul Konerko destroys the ball tonight. The slump is over. Thanks! I will now consider him for my PTC
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN Gavin Floyd said Mon might not test forearm/elbow until Weds to let it quiet down. Move retro to 7/8. Can start in 6 days. #WhiteSox This sounds reasonable don't you think? Both for the team and Floyd. Rest seems to be what he needs and then take it a bit easy when he returns
-
If Phil Humber is healthy he can be dominating by snapping off that breaking ball stuff. We will see
