The one good thing about letting everyone back into the race
elrockinMT replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) Dan McNeil was right if he said we needed a legitimate upgrade at 3B and another starting pitcher to compete. And two of the biggest trading chips we could have used this entire offseason, Gavin Floyd and Matt Thornton, are both at their lowest values ever in a Sox uniform. Your move, KW and JR. Stand still, you get passed. An old saying goes that I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong. I admire your fire in wanting the Sox to win, but I really think you live off too much emotion from game to game. -
QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 07:06 AM) This team should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. They don't deserve to be in first place the way they've been playing ever since the extra inning loss to the M's.... It's been all downhill since then... We all know it is a far better thing to win then lose, but this team has nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone goes through a bit of a rough patch. The offense did good last night. Pitching did us in, but it was anyone's game to win or lose and we lost that's all. We are still in first place and you can't expect any team in the AL Central, or any team for that matter, to lay down and just hand us the title. A couple wins by the Sox will make everything good again

and no tv here until Saturday night on WGN-A. I really would enjoy seeing this game

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) Banged up Carlos Quentin didn't have much value at the time everybody, get over it. Simon Castro is quickly becoming one of our top prospects again (something he also was as a Padre) and Hernandez was pitching unbelievably until he got hurt I refuse to get over it

QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 11:50 PM) true dat when the sox play the angels and dodgers, TV keeps us out of all that sunshine.... It looks like saturday afternoon is actually saturday night like 8 something MDT for the game

I speak the obvious when I say a win would be nice and consequently a quality start from Floyd.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Whoever was the genius wishing the Tigers to trade for Quentin... well, they are interested. Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Sources: #Tigers have interest in trading for Carlos Quentin. He has a scorching 1.463 OPS in 12 games with #Padres since returning from DL That CQ guy seems to be a heckuva prospect so maybe we should look at trading for him? Might not take more than a couple iffy minor league pitching prospects to reel him in from the Padres.

why was Dunn scratched anyway? Could use that homerun power in this game -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 05:22 PM) Very broad definition of "afternoon" there. That's cause the sun never sets in Southern California

Saturday afternoon I believe from LALA land. Might be Humber pitching. Looks like this game is on WGN-A and also on MLB network

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 11:41 PM) I don't think about it. Sit back and enjoy the baseball. This has been a surprising season and you might as well enjoy it while you can. Hopefully it lasts all the way through October. Lets go White Sox!!! I like your thinking. Let's just enjoy the ride

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) I do think what PK said is true though...he has a "heavy" fastball that he gets in on right handers...that will serve him very well along with that backdoor breaking ball he throws. 10 hits in less than 6 complete innings though. I didn't see the game so was it grounders finding a hole or hard hit balls? I do say that giving up only one run shows a battler and he didn't panic
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) Uh, oh. This means he is getting his ass kicked in his next outing. Please answer why oh why do we continue to jinx our best performers?

Something has to be done to improve the rotation
elrockinMT replied to sunofgold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I refuse to panic. Moves need to be thought out and be rational. I trust that Mr Coopert and Mr Ventura are working on our scuffling Humber and Floyd. They both have the stuff and perhaps it is mechanical and can be corrected with some work. Let's see what happens in particular with Phil's next start -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Yeah, but that absolutely means if he has a start where he doesn't have pinpoint control he's going to give up an 8 spot in the first 2 innings. Correct. If Floyd and Humber can make it out of the first couple innings without giving it up they are golden or at least keep us in the game. If they don't have it you see it early for sure
