QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 07:42 PM) Funny how 3 weeks ago people wanted to get rid of Beckham as quickly as possible, and now we're seeing threads wanting to lock him up long term.... Does anyone think we'd actually get robbed in arbitration based on his performance if he puts up his career line for the rest of the year? Sox fans are a pretty fickle group and live and die off just a couple games. You must hit 1.000 or have twenty wins in a month or they want to get rid of you quickly and cheaply. You can never struggle or be given time to develop. We have some real decent young talent so I have no problem signing them to extensions.

We have had some great things happen to this team this season. Who woulda thunk it? Rios, Dunn, Beckham, Peavy and that there Sale all delivering

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) Lillibridge had an extremely short swing going last year, and to give him credit, Ozzie used him very well. He started off this year with a long swing, and just hasn't been able to shorten it up. His at bats today have been good. He hasn't had the playing oportunities this year either

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 07:07 PM) Juan Pierre is trending on Twitter right now. Apparently he just had a bunt double. I am assuming he bunted it down the 3B line, third baseman came in to grab it 1 handed and missed the ball, so Pierre kept running to second. Is he available from the Phils or Pods from Bosox?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) When the Sox got Floyd from Phillies.............Philly brass felt about Floyd what most of Sox fans feel he is never going to be more than what he is now. Trading Floyd for Youk would not be overpaying to me........Floyd's value decreases every start. Then we got alot out of Floyd because I don't think he ever had the opportunity in Philly that he has had in Chicago. I also think when Floyd has the curve and more working together you find a dominant pitcher. You just don't give up on the kind of talent Floyd has by trading him for maybe a half year acquisiton

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) Yeah, but a lot of them are hit by lefties to right field, where Fenway is plenty big. It is?

No doubt Youklis is a competitor. He will give it his all. But, as stated many times he is injury prone and most likely on his last year or two. You don't trade away major league talent for that commodity. Taking on part of his salary maybe with a A level prospect thrown in, but we have people who can play 3B now so I don't think it is worth it to our Sox to spend money or talent on Youklis.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 04:15 AM) Not really. My point is Peavy is doing so well that for the first time as a White Sox, they could dump his salary if they so wished. Dunn ... don't think anybody would take the salary, but he should stay with the Sox, who will be contenders if he keeps hitting. I am glad you clarified that my friend LOL

QUOTE (Hawk09 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) Joe Crede was getting hammered by fans on message boards right up until he returned from his hand injury in Sept,2005....he caught fire then, and was amazing in Sept/Oct 05,and the 06 season. I defended ''Super-Joe'' for years before he took off. I will defend Gordo now. Beckham is a valuable player, defensively, like Joe,and will hit better as his career progresses. He has good speed on the basepaths also. I am on your side

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 31, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) Crede was a clucth hitter, and I believe many of us remember him as a better hitter than he actually was. Beckham hasn't shown to be a clutch hitter, yet. Aside from that difference, I would believe it's probably just the HRs that standout. Joe Crede equals clutch hitter... YES! Beckham is still developing so I am not giving up on him. He has the talent.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 31, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) Hasnt there been talk of Sale being on an innings limit this season? If so, it would make sense to have Quintana down in AA/AAA until the time comes when they need someone to step in for him Yes, I think there was talk of limiting his innings, but I think you do that over the course of the whole season meaning from satrt to satrt and not suddenly shut him down in September saying he reached his limit. We have a pretty good bullpen and taking Sale out in the 6th inning or so (depending on pitch count) you can make that work well

There is alot of "I told you so" going on now. Heck I was wrong somne too, but I am darn happy we are winning and that's all I care about. Let's stay on board for awhile
-
How many lefties do you need in fhe pen? You send him down is my guess so he stays sharp as a starter. Hopefully he has options because we seem to lose a couple minor league pitching call ups every year when they get claimed

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) Some high praise anyone? Bert Blyleven @CircleMeBertHOF White Sox starter Chris Sale had nasty stuff tonight vs. Twins. 7 shutout inning in a 6-0 win. Reminds me of a young Randy Johnson That is high praise. Good job Chris Sale!

QUOTE (flavum @ May 24, 2012 -> 04:30 AM) This De Vries guy starting tomorrow night has a 6.27 ERA over his last 3 starts in AAA. Humber should be ok tomorrow night. But, have we faced him before?

QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2012 -> 03:22 AM) If teams didn't want to trade significant prospects for him prior to the year, why would they want him now? I think Gavin is underrated on here, and don't want him dealt unless you can get something of significance back. He is underrated IMO also. He has pitched some great games but as usual he has a bad one and the calls for him to be traded pop up. You hear that about other Sox players also. Apparently you are only as good as your last good effort
