  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 03:42 AM) You can say that about every single player... Yes you can for sure. Alexei hit a couple of bullets and has nothing to show for it but hard contact is always a good sign
  2. Cold night in Chicago and really how many fans want to sit in 39 degree weather and I am sure the humidity was high. Humber lost and got hit pretty hard, but that happens to pitchers from time to time. Mark Buerhle got hit hard at times too. We lost a game and that's three straight for sure now, but we can turn it around on Friday. Viciedo did hit the ball hard twice so that is a good sign.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) Do you really think Viciedo would bring "peak value" right now? Or at any point since we signed him? It's been clear since his first year that he was a project...a project with an incredibly high ceiling, but a project that was going to take one heckuva commitment to get there. That's not something that brings you "peak value". I don't think you are wrong by any means. If he is a project or he is a potentiual star you have to at some point give him the opportunity to prove himself. If he has any potential such as Alexei he will figure it out. Alexei was able to adjust. I hope Dayan can too. There is no doubt he has to tools and has done a pretty good job in LF so far. I am willing to give him his chance if the Sox are. We are sitting in 1st place after 18 games with three marginal performers in the line up so it ain't like we are being drug down or anything. Imagine our success if those hitters put it together soon
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 06:36 PM) Before last year's slump didn't he have a period where he raked the baseball? That period where everybody was clamoring for Sox to bring him up? Maybe that was 2 seasons ago now. When the Sox just wouldn't call him up and everybody blamed Ozzie cause he loved Juan. Last year all we saw was one homer and 5 RBI's. Remember last year he broke his hand or something. Could he still be hampered by that?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) He's struggled in April every year. Last year was a particular year because he also was recovering from an injury to start the year. And that is a legitimate excuse. May players do struggle early in a season so I don't want to be giivng up on tghe kid so early.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) I don't believe Viciedo will be worth the wait, too many holes in his swing without much development of patience. At best I see him as a 5-6-7 hitter, not the dynamic 3-hitter we had hoped. I think it'd be a good move to deal him before his value drops further (see Beckham). I hope he can find it soon but so far he has not been what I was expecting from all the hype. He is young and developing. But, for certain I think alot of people here including me were caught up in all the "Cuban Hype" and thought we had really scored. Now with Alexei Ramirez we did for sure. As far as Dayan is concerned I guess Cuban talent can fail just like any other young draftee. Look at Joe Borchard. Once again though I hope he finds it and shows us the ability and talent that so impressed the scouts and upper brass and excited us fans
  7. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) I was replying to your post that said "Thornton's dealing right now." His last outing was good, but his 2 days ago he was bad. I don't exactly call that "dealing." I'm not opposed to Thornton closing only because Reed might not be ready. Thornton's definitely not a long term solution as a closer though. When Matt lost that game to Oakland the run scoring double hit right on the line. Another couple inches or so and it would have been a foul ball. Plus maybe in that game Floyd shouldn't have been allowed to pitch the 8th?
  8. Remind me why Hector was chosen to close? Ventura says he will stick with him fine, but it doesn't seem to just give up one hit or one bomb when he scuffles he gives up several of them or at least several hits. He is young and he and Reed don't have anything as far as experence over on the other and Reed seems good right now. And am I wrong in thinkig we haven't seen much of that fab screwball Santiago has? Looks like a lot of fastballs usually.
  9. Got to step back from this loss and ponder a bit. But, Santiago's implossions twice now make you wonder if we need to take a look at that closers spot adn I mean a long look. That is two games we should have won and be in this race
  10. You knew the IBB was coming. Now do you pinch run for PK and bunt
  11. I just didn't think batting Viciedo there was a good move, but it is what it is
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 11:25 PM) Be the hero, Alex! IBB to Rios. Do you leave Fukodome in there? I might chance it
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 11:16 PM) The A's have the 2nd best ERA in the American league (Right ahead of the #3 white sox)? Balta said it right there. The A's have great pitching. They have avery weak offense but their pitching can keep them in a game
  14. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) The Sox really do not deserve to win this game at all. I will not lose sleep if we lose this one. I will! A's have good pitching that's for sure, but so do we. The offenses just aren't clicking
  15. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 03:59 AM) Lets just take baby steps, hopefully by the end of the year he has that many!
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 04:00 AM) If I were to buy an Alex Rios jersey would I be the first Sox fan to own one? No, I think he has one too
  17. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 03:58 AM) That thing usually provides information we already know Well ok but its interesting nonetheless
  18. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 03:57 AM) Hawk and Stoney not doing their research . . . Dunn has 468 career homers, not 490-something. He will aftr next week I think
  19. Checking Gmeday and thery have this thing called "Scout" that pops up with in game info. It said that after 45 pitches Colon's effectiveness starts to slip
