  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) I'd be pretty surprised if he's not traded to a high payroll team this winter for a small return in order to save us some money. I don't see why moving him now would be smart. You'll get even less for him, and the team is in the race. Matt's obviously not in the same galaxy as he used to be, but I can see why the team would think he can contribute a little down the stretch. I don't think that is a good idea or will happen. If they decide to trade Matt it would most likely be over the winter and for a good return. He is still a qulaity pitcher and lefty releivers throwing 96 plus are in demand
  2. Maybe Dunn can hit Tillman? Regardless a win will be super and 6-1 on the road trip is OK too
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 05:50 PM) Beckham doesn't have the signs telling him when an offspeed pitch is coming. Not only is this true, but I think the organization was so bent on getting a young talent up that Beckham was rushed to the bigs. The kid is still learning to perform at the top level. He has done real good glovewise, but does need some help with the bat. He is not a dismal failure though. Sale was rushed to, but seems to have regrouped after some rough outings early and that is probably because of the coaching skill of Don Cooper. The Sox aren't going to lie about Adam Dunn's condition and I applaud that. I am just afraid we might be loking at 2012 before we see production from the DH whether it is Dunn or someone else.
  4. Dunn's issues with at bats is really getting beyond terrible. I certainly understand the calls to DL him, but we need a valid reason to do that. Plus I don't see Viciedo doing much right now and maybe he is the one that should still be on the DL? Whatever, the non existent Dunn has cost us more than afew games. It is just deplorable. Watching BBTN a couple days ago and the comment was made thatthey didn't know if he could fix his issues. Some debate but seemed top be the consensus that he was too far gone this season.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) I dunno about that. Lillibridge has always had a long looking swing, this year a lot of the HR's he's hit have been on short and lightning quick strokes. I think Greg Walker worked with Lilli and it wasn't about being a slap hitter. I think you are right it was about his swing being shorter. Hit the ball good and it goes aways doesn't it?
  6. Get us some sterling relief and win this in the next three innings
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 02:01 AM) PK got a meatball, but had a weird approach on the 3-1. That bad leg hurting him maybe
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 01:59 AM) How many pitches is he at? Humber is at 95
  9. Now that we have a tie game do we leave Humber in? I wouldn't push it
  10. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 01:56 AM) We just need to make sure that don't happen Heh these guys are pretty good
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 01:55 AM) Not if it's a rocket hit to Markakis We just need to make sure that don't happen
  12. Brent Morel is coming alive and that's a good thing. We need more 2 out magic
  13. I think during the rest Adam Dunn had he must have forgot what to do with the bat. SWING DUNN
  14. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) Who is our long guy in the pen? We really need a Santiago or something in there to give us some innings before everyone else's arm falls off. I don't think we have anyone and Stewart is scheduled to start on Friday
  15. Something I like about Humber though is he is a battler. He won't give in, but trouble follows him around in the form of too many hits and walks allowed and eventually it catches up to you in the game. He needs to get into that rythm and hold on
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) Hit the wall physically and mentally maybe? Self-fulfilling prophecy, it would seem. That's what I am worried about, Butm, Hardy is a heckuva a hiutter and has 21 bombs this season. You just like to see our pitcher get out of the first inning unscathed though. Three hits allowed already
  17. This from Phil Rogers: 3. The White Sox have won five straight and made up 2 1-2 games in three days. It's Philip Humber's time to hold serve Wednesday night in Baltimore. His last quality start was on July 2. Humber's recent backsliding has to be troubling for Ken Williams and the White Sox front office, as he'd be an inexpensive alternative in the 2012 rotation, if he can be trusted. The stretch run -- and his ability to handle a workload beyond 140 innings -- will determine whether he's a definite part of the '12 rotation or a guy who comes to spring training with something to prove. It will make the planning for next season a lot easier if he finds a second wind. I agree with Phil on this one and maybe we need to be more worried about whether Humber can continue pitching like a winner or he has blown his wad already instead of pounding on Rios and Dunn. We have a tendency here to annoint rotation leaders and give starting posiiton player nods to a player based solely on about 3 months worth of stats. They start out great and then come back to Earth once the league figures them out. I hope Phil Humber can show us he belongs with the big club and will be a starting rotation man next year. He has not done well the last four statrts I think it is. Phil needs to beaet the Orioles
  18. Matt Thornton hasn't lost velocity. I agree it's more about location and that is a struggle that may come and go with all pitchers. I also don't think keeping any player or not keeping them needs to get down only to the dollars issue. We spent $127M on salaries and have made some moves, but winning seems to smoth a lot of things over.
  19. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) I am a Rioist. AlexRios resurrected from the Mendoza line. I believe. Do you measn you support Rios / If you do there isn't anything wrong with that. If he hits and plays like he did in 2010 for the sox I am on his side too. Probably more folks would be as it seems a player is only as good as what he did for us TODAY!
  20. Sergio is a real talent ansd exciting to watch. Plus he is still learning to pitch IMO at the big league level. Imagine what he will be like in the future. That ought to scare a lot of teams.
  21. Dumping Thornton kind of sounds like we just give him away to get rid of salary. I think Matt Thornton is a valuable member of the relief staff and if we look at developing Sale as a starter Matt is important to keep on this team.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) February That's funny right there, but did you mean last Feb or this coming Feb
  23. QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 04:03 AM) Here we go again. I remember a year or two ago, the Jays commentators called Rios the owner of a thousand different stances. I dunno how a guy can change his stance that many times over the course of his career. But, I guess whatever it takes to get out of this funk should be attempted. Atleast he's trying to change what makes him suck instead of staying the same. Let's hope he can figure things out and contribute next year. Frustrated with Rios? I know the feeling, but changing your stance or approach at the plate has worked for some of the better hitters. If we keep Rios, which after the season may or may not happen, measn that you want someone who produces. I don't doubt at all that Alex wants to do better and I hope he can recover from his fragile ego issues , if in fact that is an issue with him, and produce the next couple months. I sure liked what Is aw in the series versus the Twins.
