QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 10:09 PM) So as many of us feared, that slow start cost us the season. Cause this team is still way too far out of first and still significantly under .500, all because of a s*** five weeks. I tell you, Oz should be manager of the year for going 44-36 with this horrible offense. It is truly a miracle. But I maintain the 44-36 doesn't matter because of the awful start. Because this season has to be graded a D right now, even with the 44-36. It has been a miserable season. It hasn't been a fun time and I sure thought we would be having a great time this season beating the daylights out of other teams. Ozzie has done a real good job keeping this team in it for sure. I know some don't want anything but heads to roll, but I really think with a move here and there this off season we will be good next year. But, I am not writing this year off yet

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) Dunn batting 7th tonight. Finally being moved down in the order. PK at DH so no De Aza again Rios seems to be coming out of it, Pierre is the LF'er of choice and Quentin is hitting. De Aza play but I don't think this idea of having to se him agaist lefties, etc, makes any sense. We are still trying to win ball games not look at next years tlent. He can come in and play later in a game like he did yesterday and when we need to make some defensive moves. This is not an issue IMO.

Rios actually thinks he can improve his hitting stance
Seems he his hitting better the last couple games. Just need to see production over the long term

I'd rather enjoy rooting for the team and always believing things wil get better than being negative about it. There are thirty teams I believe and at the end of a 162 game schedule there will be 6 divisional winners and 2 wild card teams. We all want to win the ultimate prize but only one in thirty will. Failure means some folks will be upset. At the end of the day I just want to see an effort. I think our folks have tried their best. We are 5 1/2 out right now. We did something this past weekend we haven't done in a long time-sweep the Twins in their own ball park. That's a positive. I woud just like to see negativity take a back seat here for awhile. When you look back at a baseball season and think success is a 162-0 year that's just being unrealistic. Fail to win the pennant this year just means there is next year. Tat's the greqat thing about baseball. But, I don't see any reason to be defeatist this year. When the season is over it's over and we will see where we are and talk about how to compete better next year. 29 other clubs will do the same. Leave the optimists alone and I for one won't say anything negative about the pessimists.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Rios hit this series and if he can keep it up and Dunn can ever do anything positive over a period of time we can still make the push. Win in Baltimore and we can show the Tigers and Indians we ain't chumps

Oney versus Valentine
Oney is just being Oney. I don't think it's any reason for us to pound on the kid. But, Valentine and the other ESPN guys are paid to make comments some of them are out their in left field for sure and they seem sometimes to try and out duel each othr with their criticisms of players, managers and teams. Think about it folks that's what they get paid big money to do. Heck listen to John Kruk and you would think he was a baseball saint or something and had all the answers. Being a baseball analyst is armchair managing to the extreme sometimes

Brent Morel
Is Morel going to be the same as Josh Fields? A lot of hype and struggles

some youth to work with
Flowers isn't showing me enough to annoint him the catcher of the future. He didn't look real bad this game today though

8/7 Gamethread Sox vs Twins
I saw it on TV. Three great games by the Sox and we at least got to see two weekend games on WGN and won them both. Not sure we have any games on the networks this coming week including the weekends

Zach Stewart called up
Stewart did good in his first game, but not great. The one thing is he didn't seem to panic and give in to the Twins hitters

8/7 Gamethread Sox vs Twins
That was a good win yesterday and I watched on WGN. Let's get the sweep today. Hope Peavy can do better tha allow 4 or more runs. He usually does pretty good if he can get out of the first inning without giving up a run or three

Zach Stewart called up
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) Is this Stewart guy still considered a hot prospect? KW was bragging him up. But, I am still tempted to point out that many of our top pitching prospects were traded away so we have to believe Toronto's is the answer. But, we will see. I can only wish Stewart good luck and hope he brings a win to the Sox. I will watch this game on WGN

Quentin out of lineup...Rios in.
QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) Career?!? Quentin is 0-4 against Pavano this year (0-17 lifetime). Rios is 0-5 (6-30 lifetime). Still like my chances better with Q than GQ Rios. I would go with the hot bat. But, it will all be good if the Sox win

Zach Stewart called up
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) Maybe Rosethal was on to something. He was already projecting that either Peavy or Humber couldn't make it all the way to the end of season...it was "implicit" in his line of reasoning because of Humber's workload (or lack thereof) the last five years and Peavy's continuing injury/stamina concerns. We'll see how Stewart does. Jackson's been his normal self, one really good start and one bad one. I think it will be next year before Jake can build enough stamina to go 9 or a full season
