QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) While I don't disagree that moving Konerko would be hard, I don't get the sense that they are committed to Ramirez. PK is not the problem with the team and I disagree with your feeling on the issue of Ramirez. Ozzie Guillen said many times that Getz-Ramirez and Beckham are the future infield of this team. I hope experience makes them better

The Ozzie Guillen job approval/disapproval poll

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) You can say the same for all the Jerry Manual teams. None of them did well down the stretch. Especially in 2003, even 2000. That team ran out of gas. The White Sox are just a bad team down the stretch and have been for the past decade. And injuries slowed them too -

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) You can't have a middle of the order built around an aging Konerko, Thome, and Dye either. Can't realy argue that point, but they aren't the problem and you don't gut all the leadership and experience just because you are dissapointed with the team as a whole -
QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) Is this really necessary? I don't think so

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 08:27 PM) Keep him, but I want him to snap a lot more in the future. Now time for my conspiracy theory... Today I sat there laughing while he had Williams warming up to keep the game within 1 run. Really, Randy Williams? You know he's going to give up at least one run! So then Williams comes in and does as expected, and now here's Linebrink in the kitchen with his marinara-stained apron on forming big, juicy meatballs in his glove. Then Ozzie loads the bases for Linebrink. Clearly Ozzie is thinking... I don't know what the hell he's thinking! So then Tex gets the 3-run bomb that EVERY SINGLE SOX FAN ON THE PLANET knew was coming. Brilliant. My theory is that Ozzie knew the game was lost and that the offense wasn't going to come back against Hughes and Mariano, so instead of making it a close loss, he opts to bring in the two guys he most abhors and lets them take the game out of reach. Now, not only does Ozzie have another excuse to blame the loss on these guys, but he has a reason to again rip the team a new asshole after the game. Just my two cents. Good conspiracy analysis, but when you have an underforming bullpen what do you do? You can only go with what ytou have and as they prove they can'yt do the job you make the notation and get rid of them nin the off season and try and find someone who can do the job. Williams mewlted like Logan used to in his role. Linebrink is really struggling for some reason. Of course it didn't help that the ump blew the call at 1B on what should have been a GIDP, but good pitchers with an edge pitch over that. Our guys can't seem to do that and are so prone to giving up homers it's pathetic -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) Well what choice would you go with? A Kenny job approval/disapproval poll will probably be on the way soon as well, as I am in offseason mode now. My vote was he should be on the hot seat next year btw. The division will be there for the taking again, and I think we should be good enough to win it if Kenny does his job this winter (although I guess that's not a sure thing is it?) We need to look at players not performiong up to expectations and handling their roles. I see the bullpen as a major culprit and defense close behind. Experience might improve the infield defense and trades the bullpen. A healthy Peavy and a solid fifth starter will also help. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 08:22 PM) According to Gonzalez in the Tribune: The Sox hold a $1 million option on Garcia, 34, for 2010 that includes $2 million in incentives based on innings pitched. I think its a lock he's back as long as he doesn't have shoulder setback. I have no problem with that at all. ST might be interesting next year. -

Bullpen and defense. How can we improve over the off season? Maybe Beckham-Ramirez and Getz improve with experience? Nix is a good sub, but not really all that impressive with the glove. I think it's our [en and having a solid starter or two might help also. Peavy hopefully is healthy and we have a dependable 5th starter. Maybe Freddie Garcia will be in he running for that/ He hasn't shown me any reason not to give him that chance. I would also like a more effective back up catcher. I like the heck out of Thome, but he is just hot or cold anymopre and today he couldn't hit the ball out of the infield. Does he have one more real good year left in him? I would have liked to see Frank Thomas get another shot compared to Thome this year. -

None of these choices really address the issue or problem with this team, but I am not ready to throw Ozzie under the bus regardless -

TBS Sunday National Game of the Week. I'll be watching and hope to see some of that old magic from Freddie -
I would like to see Jake Peavy pitch ay least once this season for the Sox. Maybe even more times as I ain't giving up yet as frustrating as this stretch has been

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 12:49 AM) Because you actually have to receive input from your 3rd base coach, and that doesn't work if he doesn't speak or move. Harold Spoke with his bat. Maybe he should be the hitting coach

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) I'm sure this will be the exact same team next year. Kenny will re-sign Dye and Pods and continue to rotate in Rios in the OF. He may even re-sign Contreras and plug him in as the utility infielder. What the hey!!???

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) Guys, I see absolutely NO WAY we trade Alexei in the offseason. No way. The reason is the guy seems to be a .275 20 and 80 guy in the MIDDLE INFIELD making only ONE MILLION per year. How much would we pay for this production at the middle infield in the market? We need guys like this to offset the big contracts of Rios, Peavy, Paulie, etc. This guy is a bargain. That said, I agree, move AR back to 2B (I thought he was above average there last year) and Beckham to SS. Dye to DH and get another outfielder. 3B to be decided My .02 Alexei doesn't get traded. Ozzie ssays that Beckham-Ramirez and Getz are the future -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) Fields (Beckham needs some time off), Wise (we're nothing without a starting CF), Flowers (legit catcher of future has earned promotion), and probably a couple of the relief pitchers (Link, Nunez). I wouldn't be angry if we tried giving Torres another start or two this season if he can convince the coaches he deserves it. Do you think we might see Viciedo for 3B though? After all he is paid a lot of money to sign with us. Anyway, I am almost (not quite thouhg) ready to write this team off. I have hung in there for quite awhile but reality hits you hard. If we lose tomorow and then the Twins series I guess we are probably done. Today was about as bad as it gets -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:24 AM) Fire him if you want, but it's not the hitting coach, folks. It's the guys with the bat in their hands. I am sure there will be changes this off season

Wednesay on WGN day game versus Twins Thursday day game (make up versus Cubs) Saturday versus the Red Sox on Fox if you get the regional coverage Sunday on TBS versus Red Sox Of course this Saturday versus the Yankees is WGN and TBS is Sunday

I guess we wil see some player movement this off season. But, I just don't want to see this team roll over and play dead. We play the Tigers enough that if we were to win all our games against them it might put us back in first

Contreras and pray for rain Jose is a proud guy and if he has anything left I would expect he will bring it all with him for this game, Another dismal start by the Count and he is all but history and maybe so are we

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) I think he just likes pitching from the stretch. He got the GIDP. Mark is a battler for sure
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) He has 4 hits against him, all homers and Yankee Stadium is a home run paradise. Maybe a couple of guys get on in front of him at some point and he hits one in the seats. Let's hope so cause if anyone can do it Thome can. It's just the lefty power pitcher thing I worry about
-
QUOTE (joeynach @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 12:10 AM) This game is awful to watch. Prediction Yankees get about 6 runs on 13 hits. Sox no runs on 2 hits. LAME Mark has now given up 7 hits in three innings
