  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) He doesn't do well in non save situations He doesn't do well unless he starts an inning. He's 6 for 10 in saves with a 1 run lead. I think we know why the Sox aren't going to be particularly thrilled to be paying him $8-9 million next year. He doesn't do well is what you are saying?
  2. Go for it Freddie. Wiish I could see the game, but maybe I'll listen on XM radio
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) He wants to win. A lot of pitchers have the stoic look. Rip him all you want, but I'm sure he wants to do well. I do agree it's time to try somebody else. I am with you on this one. Jose is a proud fellow and a competitor. He can all of sidden turn it around and carry the team pitching staff
  4. Let's do it. If Danks pitches good it's as good as gold
  5. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) Freddy Garcia seems to be doing a pretty impressive job down in triple-a. per dailyherald sounds like sweaty freddy will be back! Tuesday, August 18th Freddy is back!! Kind of sounds like a nightmare on elm st. film. Hopefully Freddie is a nightmare for other teams to face. I liked the move to sign Gacia over the Colon experience
  6. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) Yeah him and his sweat pitched well that game. Hehe. That sweat works well when rubbed onto a baseball
  7. Let's call KW right now and tell him to do it. He is game for that ain't he?
  8. I should be behind the big screen tonight since that game is a PDT start adn on WGN. Hope to see Jose throw a god game to follow up Danks and Buerhle's performances
  9. This is good news. I would certyainly like Peavy back as soon as possible, but caution tells you to wait his three rehab starts or more and have him here for the September push. The concern with that is how the 4th and/or fifth satrter is doing. Contreras has to step up and pitch an effective game tonight in Oakland.
  10. I would be interested in hearing comments of those on Soxtalk able to see Sox games in person at Comiskey. Was this thing with the Cubs fan an aberration or is it regular goulish behavior on the part of their fans? Are our fans prone to acting that low? I thought the Disco Demolition was a low point, but I can't remember things like this happening with our fans in the thirty years since. Cubs fans should be hanging their heads in shame if they have any pride at all.
  11. I like that Getz kid. Too bad he is hurt. Lillibridge isn't much with the bat, but fielding he might be fine. I expect Nix to start at 2B the majority of the time
  12. QUOTE (Wise Master Buehrle @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) Let's just hope that Rios is aware that if he pulls that kind of stuff here, he will not have many friends in Chicago for the duration of his contract. Not only that but he will be gone period. But, I think just as has been said here earlier that Rios has a clean slate right now.

    AJ

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Well the Ol' Hawkeroo has been watchin AJ play since his days in Florida as a youngster when the oranges were in full bloom and the breeze was comin off the ocean don'tcha know. Dadgummitt you do that everytime

    AJ

AJP wants to finish his career with the Sox. I think having him around for another couple years or so is a good thing. I hope that we sign him to an extension and then bring up our highly touted catching prospect Flowers to work alongside AJ and learn the major league style of play that AJ shows everyday. Flowers is good with the bat, but questions remain on his defensive ability. I have never seen the kid play so I don't know, but you would think AJP would be a good teacher.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) he obvioulsy hasn't been great his last two times out, but being this angry at Pena about last nights game is misplacing most of the anger IMO. Well this is true no doubt. We wasted a lot of scoring opportunities and that has been a problem this year. Sorry for Mark B that he couldn't have benefited from one run being scored behind him
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) I hate bunting with a fast guy on first base so much. If you want to do anything, do a protective hit-and-run. The only time to bunt is if you get a guy on 2nd and no outs in a tie game in the 8th or 9th. Hit and run with a faster guy on base is the way to go
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 07:07 AM) Your boy Pods makes me angry Steve. Beckham and Quentin need to be traded today! Thome is finsihed! Ok there I said it. But, Pena losing both games versuis Seattle is pretty bad I admit.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) Here's to a top notch performance from Mark Buehrle and Josh Beckett tonight I'll drink to that
  19. Hopefuly Buerhle can return to form. Taking 2 of 3 from the Mariners would be very sweet indeed
  20. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) Then demote him to the 6th spot. Benching JD would be disrespectful. Moving him down in the lineup would be playing the hot hand and trying to spark an offense that isn't scoring runs. JD has 11 million reasons to not take it personally. It is disrespectful and just plain wrong. I think the lineup issue is always in flux and right now calls to bench people or move them up and down in the line up is being based on just a few games. There are for sure possibilities to be looked at though
  21. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) I think he will be better at SS next year, just from experience. I always think of hawk when people are talking abut Alexei's defensive capabilities. "In my 50 years in this game, I have never seen a shortstop play that close to the line in this situation. Ozzie and Joey need to help him out." *Soto grounds to Alexei and into an inning ending double play That Hawk is a funny guy
  22. Ramirez isn't going anywhere and we shouldn't be giving up on a very talented player who is in only his second season of any level of play above Cuban baseball.
  23. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) I remember when people were penciling him into our starting lineup with thirty homeruns. I was not one of them may I point out, but regardless I am sorry to see Josh Fields failing so miserably. I was going to make a post erlier on this but didn't want folks to think I was taking some satisfaction in seeing Fields get plowed under.
  24. QUOTE (SockMe @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 05:05 PM) O boy, rookie pitcher going for them. Tomorrow's headlines: "Sox get blanked by rookie" He kept us off balance say Sox offense
  25. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) I wouldn't worry too much. We don't need a 5th starter for another week or so, so that's the reason Torres was sent down. Once we bring up another starter, Wise will be gone. They're just delaying the inevitable in keeping Wise. You are right I think. Read the stories about who gets playing time and Wise isn't mentioned
