  1. QUOTE (Chisox88 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 05:11 PM) 8 games left and counting in the dome. Never been there, but it is a worthless baseball park except for the Twins. Maybe when the new park opens I'll look at a road trip to the Twin Cities when the Sox are there
  2. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:25 AM) coming from someone who was late to today's game (stupid construction) I would say i don't feel too positive about the series after tonight's game. Wise is just so worthless That will bring up the continuing debate of who goes when CQ is back? D Wise or B Anderson? I like Wise, but he is way under performing.
  3. Getz is a real good looking player IMO. I think he plays good defense and is contributing offensively and shows speed. Plus he is a homegrown player. I like that fact a lot. ROY candidate maybe?
  4. See you all from behind the tube tonight---WGN--- Looking forward to Floyd's game
  5. I had to listen to XM radio Friday night and in that debacle by Danks in the 1st inning I had to wonder if the ump was screwing with Jon and the Sox. Even the Twinkies announcers said pitches the ump called balls were in fact strikes in their opinion. But, yes for whatever reason Danks did poorly and even though the offense came back again our relief people couldn't perform. There is no moral victory for the second night in a row our starter sucked and the relief pitchers blew. What can be called a victory is Saturday is a new game. By the way it's on WGN tonight.
  6. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) They said he'd have to mix in his breaking ball to get back to the starting rotation. By all accounts, he was almost exclusively using his fastball during this Charlotte start. His ERA this year is deceptive. I give the guy credit for battling and hitting his spots with his fastball, but I don't think he has much left. Do you think Poreda is going to develop a pitch between now and next year? Seems doubtful. Let's see how his stuff works in a starter's role now. Whee. Reference to Colon's pitches: That is exactly what he has been told by Ozzie (and Don Cooper) "Bart my ole amigo You have to use more than a fastball that just ain't that fast anymore." If he can't throw a curve or slider or some other pitch than the fastball he isn't going to be effective at the major league level
  7. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:42 AM) 5 IP 2 H 1 ER 2 BB 1 K 65 pitches 40 strikes Hopefully he repeats that effort. Question is right now does Richard get another start?
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) No offense, but this is completely absurd. You expect KW to move his two most experienced relievers in the middle of the playoff chase? And to make it even more unlikely, Linebrink has a NTC. I honestly don't see him wanting to leave. Plus you want him to trade Richard and acquire another reliever? When is the last time a GM has broken up a great bullpen by making 6 roster moves in July?? Not going to happen. Who are you going to bring up from the minors? I know Carlos Torres has great stats, but I've never heard one report on him having above average or major league stuff. I don't see any other option that even looks remotely interesting. Why change something that is working? If we do make the playoffs, having a deep and strong bullpen could be a huge difference maker. Apparently we are not in the division race
  9. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) Lets try to a trade one of our relievers for a steady first baseman in the upper minor leagues. \ You mean not the other way around
  10. The Indians would want Gobble for the same reason the Sox did. Lefties are in demand. He can pitch in the bullpen and still has some value. What is a fair return is a question I can't answer.
  11. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) The offense did enough to win the game today. My comments are just that we need to have a better overall attack against bullpen pitchers late in games. You figure that this will have to even out, and if that does we should have some exciting wins in the 2nd half. Its something that I think they will overcome. I'm with you on that. Hope we see a real well played series aganst the twins this weekend. I think one game is on WGN
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) What is it with Chicago fans and thinking that their managers are going to have big tirades on a daily basis? If the players on the team need a tirade after being with Ozzie for 5 years now, then they don't deserve to win. They know why they lost and don't need the Wizzard to tell them about it
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:48 PM) Ramirez and Beckham almost with as bad of games as DJ and Richard as the four of them did nothing positive. Humbling for sure. Notice though especially with Alexei: when he is bad he is really bad
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) Damnit. 9 pitch at bat by Scottie Pods, but feed a guy fastballs outside and then an inside off speed pitch and they can't lay off can they?
  15. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) This team has got to figure out how to come back when they are down a few runs to win some games. Good teams can come back, we have only 2 times this year were we have won when down after the 6th. Thats a pretty telling mark that needs to be reversed in the 2nd half. Not championship ball that's for sure
  16. It was a liner, but as usual right at someone. Wise was trying though
  17. Pena came back to get the third out via a K and no one scored. So far so good
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) A weak hit that happens to go where no one is playing I can live with. can't see it so if that's what happened I'd chalk it up along with a number of othrs like it we have suffered through this year
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) Anyone who's watching, give us their impressions of Pena please. Well he gives up a hit to the very first batter he faces while a member of our team
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) Just an absolutely idiotic decision coming off of the start in KC where he ran out of gas. We treat him like he's a 20 year veteran with a rubber arm, when really his most success is pitching like a power lefty. Maybe he is better suited for long relief and Poreda should start?
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Never would have thought the Indians bullpen could shut us down the way this game was going. I agree and if Kerry Wood finished this thing off for the Tribe I think the Sox should go hide somewhere tonight
  22. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) SAFE. Chris steals 2nd. I like this kids hustle. I think folks forgot this fellow is a rookie and may get some ROY vites. He has done well in the field and has speed.
  23. Beckham and Ramirez the weak links in the line up today along with a couple three pitchers
  24. Oh well for that inning, but we show we can still put runners on base
