  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) They still could be. It's February for crying out loud. People can be disasters in spring training and just be working on something, or having bad days, or having arm troubles, or not ready, or who knows. The Sox have put up a losing record, fairly badly, in ST every year since what, 2004? I just haven't been impressed with Wasserman. He does good for a few games and then seems (prior to this ST) to get shellacked after that. Consistency is more bad than good. Russell must still be long tossing it and not pitching
  2. QUOTE (tommy @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) The game tomorrow against the Dodgers is on CSN. It also appears to be on the new MLB cannel on cable. I can see it tomorrow. Also the game vs. the Cubs is on MLB TV channel Thursday
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) Its sad, but I would rather have the Joe Crede is the greatest, versus Joe Crede sucks arguements again, versus this Cubs arguement OK! Here goes: Joe Crede is the greatest!
  4. What is it with these sports guys and restaurants and bars? Don't they like their spouse's cooking? Are the hard drinkers? Pretty soon there will be one on every corner (base).
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) Flowers entered the game for Corky and promptly struck out. Trade him now while his value is still above average. Plus that new Cuban guy casue he grounded into the double play.
  6. 1959 is the year I became a baseball fanatic and a Sox fan. I remeber the '59 game where Ted K hit two homers in the first game and led the Sox to an 11-0 win. Funny thing is thouigh I remembered Ted as a right handed hitter and he bats lefty in these re-runs of the games. I wonder why I thought he hit righty?
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) past ball by flowers....havin a rough day back there It's the high sky and the thin air. Don't forget the thin air
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) I dont know, when I think about the Cubs a bright pink color comes to mind with rainbows in the background. Good one
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 09:22 PM) Yes, but we can acquire and develop even more talent if we trade those older players when they actually have some value. For sure that's one way to look at it
  10. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) We've had times in Sox history where we've had more prospects, many of which had higher ceilings, but I can't remember a time since I've been a Sox fan where we've had so many young guys that I actually have confidence in. I have total faith in Beckham, Viciedo, Fields, and Jordan Danks as starters; I'm confident Getz and Poreda will all make for decent at worst MLB players (Getz at least as a UT guy, Poreda at least as a lefty setup man); and I'm optimistic about Allen, Shelby, Flowers, and Lillibridge, although those would be my biggest candidates for possible busts. I'll throw this out there right now: if some of the rumors and deadline speculation going around becomes true, then our logjams seem to coincide brilliantly with Toronto's largest areas of need. And that's all I'll say. We sure do have some good young talent waiting in the wings for sure
  11. I would rather see this organization "get younger" by developing its own talent from the minors and not keep trading away talent. You build from within. Konerko, Dye and Thome, et al are veterans who can help teach and mentor young players. Let's not be so quick to want to trade them just because they make some money or are up for contract talks. AJP and Konerko and Buerhle and Dye and Thome are team leaders and you need that expereince to continue as a winning ball club. Plus whoever said 33 is old?
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 02:05 AM) I'm sure it's just me, but the "dark side" for the White Sox would be the Cubs. I agree Fathom ole buddy. I dson't like the Twins and never have, but it's the Cubbies that are the "Dark Side"
  13. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 12:45 AM) But this doesn't He just missed it!!!
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 07:27 AM) Looks like the twins are also getting Juan Cruz. They are, once again, going to be very dangerous. But, we got younger. Hopefully that translates into winning games.
  15. QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 02:51 AM) Wow, that's a hell of a broadcasting duo. Man, Chicago baseball fans were absolutely spoiled with great announcers for a long time. Piersall and Caray and then we had Don Drysdale with Hawk. We did have some real good ones. I think Caray was canned becasue he was too brutally honest about some of the past teams we had critical of management
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) so how many news papers are going to use the following pun: Flowers blooms in transition to catcher As long as it isn't "WILTS"
  17. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 01:52 AM) yah cuz Joe Crede is fielding at third. WGN is on their game I see. Maybe his signing with the Twins is just a terrible nightmare?
  18. QUOTE (Nokona @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 07:28 PM) God I can't wait for Jerry Owens to bunt on Wednesday Who else can bunt?
  19. As a fan you have every right to worship any player you want and call out the folks that want to degrade or downgrade your heroes. I like Joe Crede. If you don't then fine and I won't think less of any poster that says a particular player is better off gone-I may doubt their rationale-but I won't speak or write badly about them. I am always troubled by some of the outright hostility and negativity though. I like Joe Crede period. From me that's the end of the story. Who knows what the future will bring for Joe as a Twinkie (which just galls me to heck) but I wish him well. The Twins signing of Crede kind of reminds me of when Bill Veeck signed Eric Soderholm of the Twins after he had knee surgery. Soderholm bounced back and did a very good job for the Sox, but the Sox were the only ones to take a chance on him.
  20. Watching that game was just downright fun. What a great pitcher Tom Seaver was and it is an honor to know he was part of the Chisox even if it was at the end of his career. He was still a winner and awesome at 40. Now I think it will be fun to watch the 1981 Sox with Carlton Fisk debuting against his former mates the Red Sox. That's on tonight on MLB
  21. I believe that on Sunday eevning you see Carlton Fisk and the Chisox in his debut against his former team the Red Sox in 1981
  22. Let's sign Crede before the Twings or Giants get him
  23. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 01:38 AM) didn't he also play some first base? might not be a bad option, esp. if Broussard doesn't pan out. I wouldn't think that Broussard even has a chance of making the team out of ST. I think he is a Charlotte kind of guy maybe waiting in the wings to cover if someone is injured.
  24. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 11:25 PM) ""We've got a strong pen coming back," Linebrink said. "Having Thornton and Dotel and Bobby Jenks back there, and then you add guys like (Ehren) Wasserman and D.J. Carrasco, there are several good arms down there."" Gross Agreed. Ehren doesn't do it for me
  25. Linebrink being healthy is good early news... but it's stil early
