Crede to DL, Fields Called Up, Loaiza Released
elrockinMT replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) If Josh Fields played for any other organization in MLB, he wouldn't have been in AAA at all this year. Sorry, but I disagree. That is too broad of a statement. Now, if you said "several teams/organizations" I could agree wiuth you on that. Really I think the most ridiculous thing to come out of this trip to the DL for Joe is that all our naysayers are now out there writing him off and I just don't see that at all. Jowe will be back and Josh most likely will be sent down in 2 weeks. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Hopefully Fields will play and return to the form of last year. Hopefully his bad ML numbers are a result of him being bored down there after proving he could play in the bigs. Put him in the lineup and produce, Josh. If you want to play in the bigs you don't go down to the minors to pout or be bored. You perform. Josh really hasn't performed well and I believe he was hurt for awhile also. If Joe is hurt than Fields is our only real option and if he doesn't respond like we need him to than maybe last season was a fluke? -
QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) I'd have to think a deal like Fields, Poreda, Broadway, and Floyd would get the job done. And I'd personally be all over that deal. To lock up a true ace like Halladay for three years is priceless. I think a rotation of Halladay, Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks, and Contreras would be pretty tough. Contreras is the obvious weakness here, but he's going to be just impossible to get rid of. No. Way too much in young talent for a good pitcher with arm problems. Plus why would you give up a rising quality pitcher like Floyd? You keep what you have in my book

7 Sox players in the top 64 MLB hitters

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) Lemme guess, that would be Thome, Konerko, Dye, Crede, Quentin, Swisher and OC? Me thinks you nailed it! -
ESPN BBTN thinks the Ramirez play could be the play of the year. I thought Tad Iguchi's play was the play of that year and now this one for '08. Fantastic!

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 12:16 AM) http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?g...mp;mode=gameday There are some highlights in Gameday. Mostly of Texas clobbering him. There's also this AAA start I got to see it on ESPN. It is a bit weird, but reminds me of another picther - who I can't remember at this time -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 01:47 PM) Its funny to me that people complain about the cream pies in the face. "Whaaaa, its so old and unoriginal" "Whaaaa, why dont they try whipped cream" WHO CARES The team has fun with it, why should any of us care about it Creme pie tastes better, but I would prefer chocolate or banana. It's a team thing as you say

After the offensive display of Tue and Wed plus the Wed game being a comeback win just might have this team propped for a great 10 game road trip. I am betting on it. I think Sunday's game is on WGN so I will be watching.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) i know this looks good on paper, but i really really hope this doesnt disrupt chemistry on the team. I agree and it seems like there is a lot of trade talk ideas out there for a first place team. The talk about OC going to the Dodgers makes you ask one question: why and for who? (Maybe that's two?) Maybe we should try and re-sign OC? Maybe we should keep Uribe?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 05:45 AM) Say no to Fuentes. Last thing Sox need is another lefty in the pen. I would agree with you, but still I am wondering about Logan. He has been faltering some lately. Ozzie is critical and although that may be a motivational tactic on OG's part, it does make you wonder.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) funniest looking delivery I've seen in a while Never had a chance to actually see the delivery. I wonder if there is some game video out there? -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 11:57 PM) The last time an AL hitter won MVP and didn't make the playoffs was A-Rod in 2003. Before that it was Cal Ripken in 1991. Unless Hamilton's numbers are FAR better than anyone else's, he won't win it if Texas doesn't make the playoffs. I agree with you and Quentin is right up there power wise and his average is good. Plus Qunetin came out of no where and Hamilton had a good year in Cincy before going to Texas. I think impact player is important and that's Quentin.

I have seen MVP for the week, month, etc, but I think the one worth watching will be at the end of the year and I most certainly believe Carlos Quentin will be right there at the end of the season along with Jermaine Dye.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) That's right I went there... OK so maybe not an ace, but it took real guts to do what he did last night. How many guys after a death in the family would offer to take the ball early for their team and then procede to shutdown one of the best offenses in baseball for seven innings? Mark Buehrle is one of my all time favorite White Sox, and a night like last night shows exactly why Here's to you Mark This was a great post

You have got to think this win may help us as we move in to Detroit. I love the offense and Dotel and jenks do the job.
-
Is it Bobby Jenks time?
-
YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! CQ HOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Wilson is LHP? Must be tough on righties or something
-
Uribe with a double-Alexei to third. Good job Juan
-
Steady Edie G weith a fastball peaking at 87. We need to be patient and rip this guy
-
Alexei drives in Paulie
-
Konerko with a double. Good job Paulie. Let's keep it moving!
-
Dootell with 3 up 3 down. Now we can take the lead with a good inning

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) Obviously the last series there is a HUGE exception, but I think the Sox have played the Tigers well the last 2 years. Hopefully it is a veteran enough team to shake off this homestand and the last series and go give them hell Maybe we match up better against them or something, but I think you are right

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Hit-and-runs with two on, no out are very risky. Carlos has been swinging and missing more than not recently, add OC's not so great speed at second and you risk running yourself into the first out at third--an ultimate baseball no-no. The ole Hawkaroo claims OC is the best base stealer we have. Must not be saying much I guess
