Give Uribe credit. He battled their best releiver in a 12 pitch at bat. It might help us in the 9th -

AJ with a sac fly. We are down 8-7. We need one more, but I'd like a homer from Uribe -

I am hoping todays game can get PK on track. A homer, 2 line outs and he wasn't anxious in the at bat where he walked. Let's go Sox -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) Me too. I f***ing hate Fox games. I ALWAYS get stuck with some east coast crap. If you want to nationally broadcast a game, how about actually doing it instead of taking 2 games in each time slot and shafting people that don't live close to their market? Well I was excited until the start of the game and I was getting Yankmees and the Angels too. This blows man. So I listened to XM and wish now I hadn't started that gam thread or turned on the radio. I am sorry everyone. -
I like all three and hope they stay, but odds are they won't. We might lose two out of three this off season
-
Wise has done pretty good since his recall and does add speed. But, I think Brian Anderson is a better fit right now and Griffey bats lefty and BA is a righty so that helps BA.

I see the game time in KC for the Sox-Royals game was changed from a night start to 2:00 PM MDT Saturday. It ius one of two games Fox TV is carrying so I am hoping it is the national broadcast and doesn't get pushed aside by the Red Sox or Yankeees or some other bunch of misfits. Royals are honoring veterans, current members of the military and emergency responders today.

Griffey Jr sure has a pretty swing. It will be great to see him in Comiskey Cellular in front of home town fans. The win was sweet and made possible by key hitting, pitching and defense. An unbeatable trio

I really feel that the issue with Vazquez is the movement on his pitches. He has to aim down the middle and believe the ball will end up outside. Aim for the inside and it would be over the plate. Now can he develop, or does he have a pitch that he can control better and get the inside corner? If not he should work on it.

QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) Well, this guy was wrong... Just hindsight

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 02:41 AM) crap i got engaged on the day ken griffey jr became a white sox i will always wrestle w/ the question of which event was more significant Can Griffey cook and clean and bring you a beer.

WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR?

QUOTE (Nokona @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 04:17 AM) I figured we'd start it early this year Apparently life has ended as we know it -
We most certainly have to play tougher against the twins. Losing two leads of 4-0 this last series is brutal. I listened on XM radio and the Twins announcers and how utterly embarassing to listen to their description of Sox play. At one point they were commenting about our defense and how the sox were having hard time even playing catch with each other. Relief pitchers that can't hold leadsd or shut down the oposing offesne. Our pitchers have been giving up runs at a disturbing pace. They have to step up and perform. Our defense has to be better.

I think Ken Griffey Jr can still deliver. Where is the question, but I think he is a great addition to the team. Let's be positive dudes!

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Doesn't Konerko have 10/5 rights? With that said I can't see him accepting a trade unless its to a contender. If this is done, Richard as a long man sounds good. I think you are right, but i was thinking on Konerko's situation and after all he is the Capt. and all so maybe a rotation in the OF of Griffey-Swisher-Dye and CQ is not bad and Anderson as the back up. Firstbase would be Swisher and Konerko and DH would be Konerko and Thome. People still would play a lot and get rested also from time to time. It could work, but I am not sure who the extra OF'er would be. Maybe Wise or Anderson, but I can't see both.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) Richar and Massett, seems like a hefty price to pay. I haven't liked what I have seen from Massett lately and Richar is out of the mix for Sox purposes anyway. But, two for 1 I am not sure I like. Howveer, if the reds pick up the salary then maybe. After all the game is all about money now
-
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) If that's the price, hey, more bats are cool to have. For some reason i have this feeling Swisher could be going to some costcutting team, since his contract is cheap I think they would try and trade Konerko before Swisher

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:32 PM) Damn, didn't see this coming. I'm assuming Brandon Inge will take over the catching duties in Detroit? Farnsworth will be a nice upgrade for the Tigers pen and obviously the Tigers have a great offense with or without Pudge. Have the Tigers given up that easily?
-
Massett has been struggling. does that mean he has hit the wall? There have been times he has been a real plus for us, but several more where he was simply not done the job. I would rather see someone else fill the long relief role on this team unless he can step it up a notch
-
Konerko is coming out of the slump. I think it would be inapropriate to bench him at this time

QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) I have been told that the Sox are trying to make a deal that would fit two needs... 2b and RP. They have talked to the A's about Street and Ellis (as well as Crosby), and have talked to the O's about Sherrill and Roberts. Not sure who Oakland wants... but the O's want a package centered around Fields and Floyd. Only way I could see the Sox doing this is if they would indeed deal OC for a starting pitcher like D. Lowe. I can see the RP need and I think Street migjht be available, but I don't see the 2B spot as a need
