  1. Walk to Lowell. Danks needs to regroup. Get the DP
  2. Well the no-no is history. A single on a flyball to center. Where was Junior to make one of those patented fantastic plays?
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 01:37 AM) Becks is no slouch. He's having Carlos for dinner, but it's taking a damn good pitcher to do it. No shame in having Beckett dice you up now and then. Point well taken
  4. This offesne surprises me to no end. Yeserday 3 homers to drive in 5 of 6 runs and today 5 of 6 hits are singles
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 01:35 AM) Thanks, none of us knew that. He must be a newbie?
  6. It looks to me as if the umpire is giving Becketrt the inside portion of tha plate-calling a ball a strike- and then CQ goes after one way outside. Must be movement on Beckett's fastballs
  7. I just checked in to see Danks is making a run at it. Is this guy the real ace of the staff?
  8. Junior looks at called strike 3. Whatver happened to protecting the plate on a 3-2 pitch on the corner?
  9. Buck Martinez was making his perdictions yesterday on TBS and he said the Yanks probably aren't going to be able to cathc the Rays or Boston. Now with Crawford and Longoria out that might change I think. Yanks don't have the starting pitching, but they can score runs.
  10. MLB reports show Adam Dunn going from Reds to DBacks And maybe affecting the Sox, but especialy the AL East, is word that Evan Longoria in on DL with a fractured wrist so who does TB go to now?
  11. I do reember watching Nellie Fox play, but only on Saturday NBC Baseball games. I can remember him being called the best bad ball hitter ever and then watching a Sox game where the bases were loaded and he reached out for a high outside pitch and plunked it into left field driving in 2 runs. He was the 1959 MVP and that's when I first was interested in baseball and became a Son fan. Nellie Fox was my favorite player and my first baseball glove was the Nellie Fox model
  12. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) Little by little. At this point a huge acquisition probably isn't going to happen. There is plenty of room for improvement from our current pitching corp. Just getting back close to first half would be a bigger improvement than anyone we are going to pick up. It would also help immensely if MB pitched like INAA I think you are right. I do not want us to mortgage anymore of our future by trading top prospects for rent-a-players or paying huge salaries to hurlers with ERA's approaching 5 or 6 a game. We need out four main guys to step up and deliver and hopefully get Linebrink back healthy and dominant. Right now we will see lesser known, but possibly good pitchers at a cheap cost being thrown into the mix
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) What are you talking about? Who wants Carrasco to start? Ozzie
  14. We need pitching and better defense not more poweer hitters, or even outfielders period. But, I would not want to give up minor league talent for a washed up veteran pitcher, who we wouldn't keep past 2008. That means our farm system is where we need to turn to and see if we actually have any minor league talent able to help
  15. Getz up and Fields down. I applaud the move. I would think that move might be temporary and just until Crede is back, but Joe might be out for awhile still. Broadway up and Logan down. I watched that game last night and Boone Logan was a little league pitcher. It was very frustrating. Carrasco did a good and so did Russell, but you prefer to see the pen shut down opponents completely. However in 7 innings those 2 only allowed 2 runs. Boone was the problem. Thinking of the fact that if Boone Loagn could have done his job we might still be playing that game. Carrasco wants to start, but my guess is Broadway gets the call only because he is a starter and stretched out where DJ goes 4 innings, but anything can happen I guess
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) So we're playing Griffey Jr. against lefties, and giving him his days off against righties? Must be Ozzie going with his "gut" again
  17. I have a front row seat tonight and a date. My big screen TV and my wife plus maybe the 1 year old grandaughter.
  18. Good move to make. Tonights game is on WGN so I'll be there and certainly hope we don't see some melt down by Jose in the first couple innings and listen to stuiff likle, "it's been awhile since I've been out there", etc. He needs to step up and show he still has something left
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 02:41 AM) When did his water break? Sorry, couldn't resist. Beat me to it
  20. Time for the ace of the staff to step up and be the ace. Lead the pitching staff to some respectability please Mark.
  21. The struggles of the pitching staff aren't all on Javier Vazquez. Right now they are an extremely inconsistent bunch and they all need to get their heads back in the game and start pitching like aces. And that measn all of them from Buerhle on down. We can't expect the offense to keep bailing these guys out.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 12:37 AM) Why treat the #9 hitter so gingerly and try to trick him with a telegraphed change-up when that will only make him a more dangerous hitter and speed up his bat? Even the Tigers' announcers noticed he was slowing down his motion. I was going to say the same thing. All of a sudden his pitches are 5 or so miles slower and his change wsn't much different then the fast ball speedwise
  23. He come sback to K Granderson. Yippe Ki ya
  24. Two singles and a 2 out walk to the #9 hitter loads the bases for the Tigers
