QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 09:08 PM) He did, proving your negative azz wrong!! Nothing negative about what I wrote just an opinion that I am happ to say was not in line with final events

Good job by Danks. D still a bit shaky, but did not implode that time

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) juiced, 0 outs danks better dig deep into his soul if he wants to get out of this jam. I am not sure he is gointg to be able to step up, but one can hope

The Sox defense is absolutely horrid. I don't knowe how many times they have just done all in their power to hand (fumble) chances to the opponents

Pitcher out thought the hitter on tyhat first pitch. I bet PK thought fastball and the hurler gave him a curve. GIDP

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) I wonder if he will get to play tomorrow against Gio? I imagine so, as I don't think you want Griffey trying to cover that huge CF in Oakland...and Griffey just hasn't been hitting, so pencil Swish in for CF. Godd question. Maybe Griffey will casue I think Ozzie plans on resting Thome. Sp we DH's? Maybe Anderson gets to play CF tomorrow? Swisher could cover first and Konerko DH

Danks is looking on today. Must be his after shave? Actually 4 K's in 2 innings, but he has allowed 2 walks and 2 hits so it's kind of hard to get agood judge of his stuff. Is anyone actually watching the game and can report?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) He's had some decent games at the Cell against the A's. I know he had said something about looking forward to the return to the Coliseum. Maybe he is just trying to hard.

Has Swisher done anything against his former team mates?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) I just made a thread b****ing about this. And a more truer thread I have never read. I have no clue how Fox, or even ESPN does their scheduling other than around Red Sox and Yankees games

Checking in with MLB Game Day. Sox-A's listed as a Fox game, but must be on the West coast. I get the horror of a Twinkie-Mariners game. Twins up 2-0 so I am real happy to see the Sox getting out front.

Pretty por performance last night by the pen. They gave up three homers in less than 2 inings. But as bad as they were last night there were many ga,mes they were superb. What happened last night was a team effort to look as bad as possible

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Baseball has become several games within a game and we failed the late portion of the game when Dotel blew up. We had the game til he came in. He sucked and that was that. That Anderson play didn't help either, but had he stopped at third, Swish probalby woulda stranded him anyway. Hope we battle back not fold like we did after disapointing loss No. 1 in Wrigley. Plus I think the thirdbase coach waved him in. Anderson did what he could and the throw was right there.

I watched this debacle on WGN last night. It was a real jaw dropper. We give up 5 homers to the Oakland A's including three in the last two innings to lose.Defense was incredibly bad; we need speed so Ramirez gets picked off once and thrown out by awide margin trying to steal on another play. We get shut down after the first inning by an A's starter that has an ERA somewhere around a billion (slight exageration I admit) and the A's themsleves have been pathetic lately. They sure loked like a reincarnation of the old A's teams of the past. I think our hope is that when the Twinkies go on their 14 game road trip we start winning some games like we are capable of doing. The Twins are terrible on the road.

Experts counted us out before the season even started. Then we hold onto first for a long time and they come around. One even thought the Sox would run away with it in the second half. Obviously Minny has something to say about that, but I think we have the juice to do it we just need to DO IT!

I will be home in time to watch on the big screen and WGN. See you there tonight

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Having Richard on the team over Broadway makes little sense. I would hope we don't think Richard can contribute in the bullpen, because at least right now, I doubt he can. We are a starter short in the meantime, and although I have no idea if he is any good, Broadway has started in the majors twice and been good both times. Richard comes up and shows he can't get people out, Broadway shows he can, and we have Richard on the roster instead of Broadway. Makes perfect sense. I agree with your argument. Richard got banged around 3 times and never lasted more than 4 innings. Broadway does a real good job for 5 1/3 (failed only by his defense) and he gets sent down in favor of Richard. Man that is hard to figure out. Now on the other hand Carrasco is still a starting option.

He always gave it his all and had that knack for the opposite field big hit. Plus who can ever forget that fantastic play he made when he was dang near vertical and threw out the runner at first?
-
I remember his no-hitter and that win versus Toronto in the play offs. He could be dominating when on
-
Jon Garl;and was a darn good pitcher. Maybe if the LAA office doesn't sign him for next year KW will try for him again through free agency
-
Jose V was always one of my favorite players. You can say all you want bad about the guy, but he always gave 100% on the field and wasn't afraid to start getting on those who didn't.

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 01:11 AM) it's on the Chicago Tribune Web site. No word on who is going to replace him. here ya go Updated: 55 minutes ago White Sox's regard to Broadway: You're demoted The Associated Press 6:16 PM CDT, August 14, 2008 The White Sox optioned right-hander Lance Broadway to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, less than an hour after he started and got the win in a 9-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Broadway is 1-0 in two appearances for the White Sox after he was recalled from the minors four days ago. He pitched 5 1-3 innings Thursday and, after a shaky start, allowed five hits and two runs, both coming in the first inning. Broadway threw 100 pitches. "It's better than going back with a loss. I got up here, got a win -- things are pretty good," said Broadway, the White Sox's first-round selection in the 2005 draft. "They need some bullpen help. It's fine with me. Whatever they need." Broadway is expected to be called back up before the end of the season. "If I got to choose, I'd be back tomorrow. But whenever they need me," he said. "I'll be back in Charlotte having fun there, too." I just had the chance to do some searching for info and I saw the story too. Kind of confusing. They bring Richard back up now after he got ripped three times. Once again is it because they need someone to spell Thorton, or is Thornton hurt, or do they need a second lefty?

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) Word is he just got rewarded by being sent back to Charlotte. I see nothing anywhere about that... yet anyway. If he went back to Charlotte it's because they have something else in mind, but he did a decent job today and a win is a win
