The injury to Wise is most likley going to put him on the DL, if it is as serious as reported. Thoughts were another pitcher might be called up, but also speculation they might be waiting to see if Joe Crede is ready to come back up. Ozzie didn't think Joe was ready, but in the 4th inning of today's game Charlotte-Norfolk Joe Crede has turned a DP in the field at 3B and has a hit. I would like Joe back up here for the road trip. Thoughts?

Twinkies lose to Angels 5-3. We need to keep rolling. Hope today was a momentum turner

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) He's right. Not our fault we got the call though, we lost a game on opening day due to a hideous call. Things happen. This is as close as we're going to get in terms of an even out call for opening day. AJP just showed us why he is so valuable to this team. He knows how to play only one way and that's to win. I would argue that he was just twisting himself around to try to get back to 3B and keep the run down going, but TB fielder ran into him. That's my story ala 2005

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) I thought they should have pitched to him, as the chances of a strikeout against T. Miller were a lot greater than an Alexei strike out or double play. Thome was hot today that's why and all he needed to hit was a sac fly. Plus putting him on made sense becasue he is a slow runner and gives a good chance at the DP, but Alexei is so clutch it backfired on TB

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 11:52 PM) Good guys wear black. It's fashionable if we win and it's appropriate if like today we lose and the park turns into a funeral-like atmosphere. I liked those T-shirts that said "Good Guys Wear Black." I wonder if you can still buy them at a reasonable price and have them shipped?

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) before Paulie got up to bat I said "it will erase everything you've done this year if you just get me a hit" so now I'm #1 paulie fan. Hopefully this game will be the spark we need to take us through September

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) please explain, I didnt get to see the game as I was at work You need to make sure you watch Sportscenter and/or BBTN to get a look at the rundown. AJ made this win happen with that play

I'll be there on TBS today. Behind the big screen and rooting for MB to show he is the staff ace. After two hard loses we need the ace to step up and get the win.

Today's bullpen implosion, brought to you by Seattle Sutton

QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 01:17 AM) I think it was f***ing stupid to take out Vaz when they did. It was his ball game to win or lose, not the bullpen's. It's not like he was even hit hard that inning. He gave up a decently struck ball to Navarro, but he got screwed over by the ump with Gross at bat, and Bartlett had a little seeing-eye-single. If he was giving up rockets left and right, it would have been different, but he was still pitching good. f***ing stupid. Did Javy load the bases? If so then Ozzie was right to take him out. Thornton usually has been lights out dominating, but of all days to take a step back it had to be today -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) Thornton had the chance to get out of that inning with the Sox still tied if OC could field the damn ball. Does he have naked pictures of the official scorer? I've never seen a player get the benefit of the call more than he does. I only saw that error by OC on replay. I called it an error although it looked real hard hit, but apparently the scorer gave the hitter a basehit? -

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) Good teams rebound against good teams. They have done a pretty good job of doing that so far this season and they need to do it again! BTW there goes our theory of the Twins sucking on the road... One can only hope that the two games in LA were an abomination and not a premonition -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 04:51 AM) I like to wear clothes Actually that wasn't nice of me to post this reply to a valid Sox fan question. No matter where I am for a baseball game I always wear the Authentic fitted Sox hat. I wore it to games in Seattle in 2005 when the Sox were there and they threatened to put me on one of those trains that pass by SAFECO. However, when I wore it in Denver that year to see the Sox I swear most of the fans were Sox fans at Coors Field and that was cool

OK! It's a new day and I am charged again. The Sox can do this and can beat the Rays Saturday and Sunday. Our guys just have to play better and that goes especially for the relief corp. But, they have done it before and can do it again. Let's go out and get us some wins! B)

I am hoping that FOX shows the Rays-Sox game as their prime game of the day and I get to see it. I am afraid I'll get stuck with the Dodgers-Phillies for crying out loud. -

We drop to 2nd place. The Twinkies limit the LAA to 1 run in 2 games? I was counting on this being a tough twinkie road trip. Meanwhile our bullpen implodes again -

I was at a minor league game tonight so all I got was BBTN highlights. I didn't want to believe we had another bullpen melt down, but there it is... Dotel couldn't get anyone out and H Ramirez ddin't do any better. Pretty pathetic

QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:39 PM) In NY it looks like they are showing the Dodgers and Phils. What the hell is that? That is a good question. You would think that the game of the week would be between the two top teams in the AL neither of whom were supposed to compete. It would be the most meaningful -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:03 PM) Fox dicks me another Saturday. Honestly...if they're regionizing broadcasts...I can see blacking it out in that area but not for Extra Innings. Last weekend they had the Sox/Oakland...and for some stupid reason had the Angels too. I think FOX and ESPN are in cahoots. I have never understood their scheduling arrangements -

I am hping to pick up the Saturday game on FOX as long as they don't get their critical thinking messed up and show the Dodgers or Cards. Sunday is on TBS. -
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) Just how cool would it be if both the Yankees and the Red Sox missed the Postseason? What would ESPN do!!!??? Go off the air because the world as they know it would be over

QUOTE (griffey17 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) This road trip is going to catch up to them..it does to every team no matter how good. We just need to keep pounding the team we are suppose to beat..as in Baltimore next week. My thoughts exactly. They are not the best of road clubs and this may very well be the Sox' chance of making a move to get ahead of the Twins

Did anyone notic that Mark Gonzalez mentioned

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 05:24 AM) Richard should start the suspended game. If we had Wilbur Wood on this team we wouldn't be having this discussion -

QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 02:11 AM) My son's 1st Sox game ever, Josh pitched. I surprised he's still a Sox fan That's a good one right there -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) Sorry, but he left that in California Orlando has done a prety decent job overall. I think at first he failed to be the team player we wanted to see, but the others brought him around as did Ozzie. I am not sure he will be looked at for next year, but if he was signed again I wouldn't mind. I can think of worse choices.
