So much speculation about Jose C and why he has been so bad. I have to believe injury, but the thing about him is he has a lot of pride and wants to win. He wants to do good, but it just isn't working out. I don't know why he hasn't been placed on the DL? -

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 12:12 AM) We're back in it...maybe we should go to the pen now. Richar gave one a charge. I am not able to watch the game (I have gameday). So Richar put some wood on the ball even though it was an out? -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) Mussina has a 3.67 ERA over his last 8 starts. So we might lose by .4 runs? OK! -

Pods made Mussina work at that at bat. What was it 8 or 9 pitches and then he gets a hit. That's what you need to do with Mike M---be patient and waste his pitches off -

Unless Jose gives up a ton more runs we still have a chance against Mussina. He hasn't been so hot lately either. Well maybe hotter than Jose, but not that great, well maybe greater than Jose, but, but , but Oh who am I kidding. We are done -

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 11:34 PM) There is a kid on one of the little league teams where I coach and he is awesome. He's a great kid too, with a good head on his shoulders and is already a terrific switch hitter as a 12 year old. He won a game against us (the first time we played them) with a 2 run walkoff homer that cleared the fence by 40 feet. His name is Jason, he is from Ithaca, NY...he is a little league catcher, pitcher, corner IF and any OF position...If you were to tell me Jose could be available for him I'd love for the White Sox to get Jason as a "sign and follow" prospect. Only thing is, I don't think the FOP little league team would accept Contreras. Maybe we could forge his birth certificate and they would take him -

We got two class A level prospects in trades for two pretty good major league players. Couldn't we at least get a little legaue player for Jose? This is simply ridiculous -
Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make Dye I am happy is still here and Jose has the opportunity now to show us he still has some gas left in the tank.
-
Pods-Erstad-Owens-Dye in the OF. No more Mack so unless something is out there we don't know about I am guessing this is our OF for the rest of the year.
-
We are stocking our minor league teams. But, only two class A players in return? Oh well! How much playing time would Mack get anyway this season with us starting a bunch of starving rookies? I would have to believe Sweeney gets called up to replace Mack, but we will wait and see obviously.

According to MLB transaction Molina was released and picked up by Baltimore on 7-30. Considering that we used him as the back up in place of Toby Hall, who is our "Yogi Berra" in the farm system now? Would the powers to be that monitor this forum please excuse me and delete the next two posts. My computer went haywire and posted this message three time. I apologize profusely.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
elrockinMT replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Im see that our former back up catcher Gustavo Molina was picked up by Baltimore off waivers and sent to AA -
Keep Dye in Chicago Kenny! He made $6.75M and is abargain. Sign him for 2 or 3 more years. He is healthy and hitting an fielding well. We don't need another resurection project, or some underperforming prospect. Dye is a quality player.

Iguchi Traded to Phillies for RP/SP Michael Dubee
elrockinMT replied to IlliniKrush's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:53 AM) Castillo had more value because of the draft picks after the season (assuming he qualifies for them, which I think he does but don't know for certain) Tad Iguchi was still worth more than a class A pitcher. The Phillies got a real good 2Bman with some power and ability to drive in some clutch runs. I am not impressed with whatever decision went into this move. There isn't much in the last year that has panned out for the Sox as far as trades and other signings are concerned and I think the Iguchi trade is just another example of real questionable player decisions. -
You do have to wonder what the plan would be now for Erstad. Owens is getting the llok in CF and Pods and Erstad I suppose could share LF, but I am goessing another rookie gets brought up for a look-someone like Sweeney and then both the dudes are out.
-
Keep Dye. He is aproven winner and a team player. Wilie Moe and some class A pitcher isn't a fair trade. We pick up another underachieving hitter/of'er and we have enough of those in our system now. If this trade is made it seems it would be just so someone in the front office can say they did it. We would be so much better off signing Dye to an extension instead of trading away one of our better hitters and outfielders. You trade to improve yourself and this team does not need to subtract. The bullpen is the problem and yet we trade hitters for minor league shavetails that we might not see for years if ever.
-
I suppose it's just kind of a fun thing to do when other teams jettison underperforming players- that is for Sox fans to bring up the idea of acquiring them- but why would we want someone who obviously ain't got it? We have our own minor league talent, questionable as their development might be, to fill our needs.
-
We don't have a strong rookie group and hopefully that translates into let's keep J Dye for 2 or 3 more years in a Sox uniform. After getting only a class A pitcing prispect for Iguchi I question decisions being made by the front office
-
I am sure we will keep Erstad around cause he is a grinder! Probably $10M contract.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 03:53 AM) disagree 100%. You can combine names and say Famous Amos Day, or perhaps just have a flat out Famous Amos Day where they give out cookies. I should so take Brooks' job. These "cookies" are making me thirsty! Days showed some good stuff on occassion and so does Wasserman.
