  1. Nice to get offense and pitching. Garland will work through his shoulder issue. Hopefully we get some fire from Dye and Iguchi and the Sox will sign them for anotehr 2 or 3 years. Let's all be posiitve. Jarry Manual I was watching game day and it was stuck on Koernko. Finally it clears and the Orioles are up and out in the 5th. Nothing like keeping up to the minute.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) Hasn't Jon mentioned this knot from time to time. The knot basically just at times causes some stiffness in his shoulder. Either way its something I hate hearing from a guy I consider one of the most durable pitchers in all of baseball. Yes, I believe he has. It seems to come up a bit more this year, but he only had one bad game. If he does well tonight I think we can assume the 20-14 loss was not a sign of things to come.
  3. Joe Crede is a gold glove defensive thirdbaseman and Fields although adequate most certainly is not at the same level. You hear that from baseball people also. Joe should be our man at third and Josh in LF and sub at third when needed.
  4. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 12:57 PM) Does anyone think KW was going to come out and say "hey, fire sale here! Get your veteran talent here - all for the low low price of your best 2008+ projected prospects!"??? That would be stupid not just among the GM's, but also in broadcasting to the fan base something akin to "we give up on 2007". He is looking at 2008 and 2009. If it helps 2007, hey, great, bonus. He wouldn't, but I am not ready to throw in the towel yet either. I sure was tempted when the Twinkies beat us 20-14 and 12-0 on Friday, but we bounced back Sat and Sun. Anyway I just bet we have a trade or two, but not a fire sale and this team can still compete. It could be a fun ride this second half if they come together.
  5. The miracles of modern science. Joe Crede will recover fully from back surgery and hopefully sign for 3 or 4 or 5 years more with the Sox.
  6. I just am happy to be a member of the Soxtalk family. That's toeing the company line for you.
  7. Mark Buerhle exemplifies the Sox tradition and along with guys like Konerko and Thome and Perz make the Sox a real team.
  8. The Sox may very well try and sign Dye and Iguchi and I am fine with that. Pods is gone, Erstad is probably gone and my guess is Contreras gets traded before July 31st. Uribe may also see the door. Pods and Erstad can always be signed in the off season, if no viable CF option presents itself.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) I'm just saying it can be done. Either way, Fields is no defensive phenom. I agree it can be done and from what I have seen of our minor league players I think it should be done. If KW is really serious about developing the Sox as a winning ballclub, he needs to resign Crede along with the no-brainer of extending Buerhle and then look at Fields in LF. People want to say negative things about Carlos Lee being moved to LF, but any scholar of the game will tell you that Lee worked hard to make himself into a pretty decent LF'er. The move was anything but a failure. Moving Fields to LF is a good idea and has a lot of merit, if it is part of a real plan for the Sox to build a winning team.
  10. Just watched the 12 Midnight edition of ESPN BBTN. They are saying the Sox refused the alternate offer made by Buerhle's camp for a 17M dollar 5th year type buyout or contract addition if traded. They said it isn't anything different than Ostwalt has with the Astros. The Sox said no and the analysts said Sox managemnt must be crazy. Of course this is a business right. The fans don't matter any because it's just our money after all that keeps these teams in business. This is just plain wrong if true.
  11. After Buerhle throwing this gem versus the Twinkies- a game we needed to win after such a shameful display on Friday- I can't believe the Sox management would still be undecided about signing Mark to an extension with a NTC. I am disappointed in Jenks not shutting the Twins down in the 9th, A hit and a walk are not what you want to see your closer allowing in the 9th with a 3-0 shutout on the line. He didn't have a problem on Friday shutting the Twins down in a 12-0 loss. I'm sorry, but I am not all that happy with Bobby. Once again I call on Sox management to get off the bump and sign Mark. If you are waiting for my permission then I say do it.

  13. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 03:15 AM) 32 runs today All of them are the umpires' fault...well that and all the duck snorts. I have never heard a duck "snort" before. I have heard them quack, but not snort. There was a lot of quacking going on in that DH.
  14. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 01:33 AM) major league gameday is also stuck in the middle of the third. maybe Reinsdorf ordered it shut down. no more bad news. Gameday gets stuck a lot it seems
  15. I think maybe they can do a move for Floyd like they did for Danks. They had Danks move to the 3base side of the mound. Maybe Floyd can move up about 25 feet or so and get some zeros on the board?
  16. Where are are so called phenoms? Floyd comes up amidst all the Sox hoorahs about how much he has matured and in three innings he gives up 5 runs and 3 homers. He is fitting in real well. Probably become the bullpen stud now.
  17. The Sox in this DH are just a total embarrasment. I only picked up soince the third inning and we are al;ready dopwn 5-0. 25 runs allowed in 12 innings. The trades will start during the all-star break
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) Ed Farmer says we lost because we couldn't get our breaking stuff over. That and the Twins scored more runs then us! You think things can't get any worse and they do. What else this year can make a Sox fan cringe? Five errors and we give them 20 runs! Oh well, there is always tomorrow (or in this case tonight)
  19. I am planning on seeing whether our cable company here lets you pay for one game in the MLB Extra Innings
  20. Man I just logged on ands wish I hadn't. The web site says " Garland getting run support" and when I click on to game day the Twinkies are the 1927 Yankees versus Garland. For crying out loud. As posted earlier it is so good to see we stepped up for the big series. I hope this isn't setting the tone for the rest of the year.
  21. Didn't see this posted yet, but www.chisox.com reports Mac has a sore shoulder and went on the DL and Day has been reinsttaed. Day pitched a rehab at Charlotte and had 3 scoreless innings before being brought back up.
  22. Pitching is what wins games and you build your team around. If you have stars like Buerhle and Garland you keep them and add youth around the experienced winners that you have. Vazquez is another real good one, but I think it's a toss up whether he gets traded or not. The guy has so much potential and we are starting to see some real great outings from him. Ifg any pitcher gets traded I think its Contreras to the Mets. Buerhle will sign that extension and stay with the Sox. I like Dye also, but whether the Sox try and keep him is a real question. He is having a down year like so many others on this team and I think he can still hit like he did last year and in 2005. You can't say he is washed up when his numbers are really no worse than Konerko's and Thome's.
  23. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 02:27 AM) Ozzie left him in for too long. He was tired. If you don't know the whole story that one bad inning is going to take away from what was Danks second straight real good performance. 5 runs allowed doesn't look good, but he is a winner.
  24. Sure nice to see the offense and we are still getting it in the 7th. What happened to Danks? Just tired or they finally solved him for those 5 runs.
  25. Congratulations to all of us and especially the guys that started this site. You are all awesome. Hard to believe I have been on this board since 2003. I can't even remember how I came across it just loking for Sox baseball fans I guess. Glad I did though
