  1. ESPN was very pro Sox last night, but the guys that were on there were new to me. They even said the race in the AL Central is over in their opinion as the Sox have an insurmountable lead. The also said Pods was the pick as the runner that caused pitchers the most grief when he got on, but added other Sox players added to the mix. All in all this "new" group of announcers were good to our Sox.
  2. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) A lot of the guys were going the other way today. It was a beautiful sight to see. You may correct me if I am wrong, although I will not listen to you, but Joe Crede has been going the right field way a few times these last few games and getting hits. Maybe Walker is working with him and/or it is sinking in finaly.
  3. I would rather have Crede at 3B. Crede is a superior fielder and strating to come around a bit with the bat. Randa as a backup? Maybe, but really not my first choice.
  4. I made it to Chicago only once to see the Sox and that was 1987. I saw Neil Allen of the Sox get rocked for 5 runs in the 1st inning and get pulled without recording an out. The next day he was released. I also saw Kenny Williams hit a homer, but Milwaukee beat Chicago 7-4
  5. ESPN BBTN last evening were talking about the AL starter for the All-Star game. Brantley thinks that Garland deserves the start while Gammons thinks Buerhle should start. Then John Kruk chimes in with "Roy Holiday" of Toronto when the name is Halliday. What do you all think? I love both Jon and Mark, but Buerhle has a better ERA and has shown consistency every year, but Jon has the most wins in MLB.
  6. I hope Shingo has figured it out also. He can be a big boost to the bullpen. The one I worry about now is Vizcaino. I don't know what's up with that guy. I saw him pitch in Colorado and he looked good coming in at 92 to 93 MPH with that fastball and then you see him getting hammered on slow stuff. Arm injury?
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) "You could make a deal for Crede right now." Interesting. If he's so atrocious, I wonder why all these GM's would want him. The talk that you hear from Ozzie and kenny is that they recognize the talent Crede has and will be patient with him. The plus that Joe has is his fielding, which is much above average. I think Crede is in the same category that Jon Garland was in and that's wait for him to develop. There most certainly doesn't seem to be any reason to rush into a trade.
  8. We got the sweep and I was watching on ESPN. Joe Morgan was very complimentary about this team. They never give up and they play the game right. Exciting Sox baseball!
  9. QUOTE(Stocking @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) awesome post jim. I agree with the comment. It's so good to see guys make positive statements about our Sox players. Carl has been a team player and wants to contribute. I just wisah there was a way to get him in there more and at the same time see the Big Hurt every game as the DH. But, do we think there is a chance that Frank may get a little playing time at 1B. Konerko will need a rest from time to time and it would be a great way to keep rotating Dye, Everett and Thomas around.
  10. Then you read that Freddie admits he was "lazy". Well Freddie then we know yu have to get charged up before you enter the game don't we? What's the problem then? The guy has so much talent, if he would just concentrate more on bringing it to the hitter early and often.
  11. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) Argh... No, ESPN was misleading you.. The Sox used to be on WGN all the time back in the day, but they decided to move their games to a new channel. Which ended up not being a wise move. This is what they we're talking about. You can still watch them on WGN. I was just going to say the same thing. I just watched them win that Saturday come from behind wonderful ballgame on WGN. Of course I satyed for ESPN Sunday Night Baseball too. Another beautiful game.
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) My first game thread. We'll see how it goes. Congratulations YASNY! I knew you were destined for great things.
  13. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) I mean watching on ESPN, with beer by my side... Pitching match up tomorrow is Count vs??? RAFA let's get a cheer going tomorrow night from Montana to Brazil. I'll be watching too!
  14. Contreras goes for the Sox and it's a 6:05 PM CDT start on National TV. See you there out-of-town Sox fans.
  15. I saw it on WGN. It was great. What more can you say that hasn't already been said, but these guys never seem ready to give up. Garcia didn't have squat the first 2 innings, but still kept battling and with 2 outs the Sox score 4 runs. There isn't anyone on this squad that I would trade and I mean that.
  16. I was there for games 2 and 3. Big thrill for me to see the Big Hurt that homer. But, I do remember the wierd plays. Politte's hit was just great, the ball thrown in from RF hitting the ump and also Konerko getting the ball stuck in his glove's webbing and him throwing it ot Contreras. I saw them all and it was fun.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 04:05 AM) C'mon people. Stop titling these threads so it reads as if it's a done deal. I have to agree with YASNY here. Crazy rumor anyway considering SD is in a race also and just why would they start trading their starters? The Sox wouldn't be making an upgrade anyway.
  18. We have so many calls for trades and all I think we need is areliable sub for Crede and send Timo down or get rid of him. Everett can play the OF. Right now we have more OF people than we need.
  19. QUOTE(tony72 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Timo would probably hit a bomb now when it wouldn't really matter.. A 5 to 4 game and he would whiff.. Couldn't hit his rear end with both hands
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) MOTHERf***! TIMO IN FOR HURT The Hurt needs more at bats and Ozzie keeps tinkering away
  21. It's great when our leadoff guy can work some walks.
  22. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) FRANK IS THE BEST SOX PLAYER EVER! HANDS DOWN! May I second that emotion?!!?
  23. I just logged on and at MLB GameDay it's stuck with a ball one count on Tadpole Iguchi. I take it it we are still motivating though?
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Shingo was phenomal last year............not so much this year. Cotts has been phenomenal lately. Neal has been a real success story this year. It bodes well for the future. As for Shingo I think Shingo=fragile psyche. He struggled and lost confidence. But, the last few games I think he is regaining some of that and may be on his way to straightening himself out.
  25. Exactly the issue with El Dookie and Contreras. When they struggle with control it is just a disaster waiting to happen. But, when they are sharp they are very very good.
