Easter Sunday game thread
Is anyone wathcing or listening to the game? I came in late and have to use game day. Doesn't look like Danny is real sharp. Pitches are about even between balls and strikes.

That failed inning simply comes down to the failure to get the bunt down by Rowand. I am sure he feels terrible about it, but you have to perform in those situations.

Mark Buehrle
Since I am relegated to TV games for viewing Sox baseball and have seen Mark B pitch in game one and yesterday in NY all I can say is I love the guy. I always look forward to watching Buerhle. He is the master on the mound and pitching the way he has in his first two games just makes me nelieve he will have one heckuva a good season. Really you have to say the same thing about ELO and Garland too. Shoe did fine and today we get to see how Wright will respond.

Billy Koch quote on his error in the 9th inning:
Chisoxfn, if you don't mind I will use your post as my comment quote. Everyone has about the same take except Nuke Cleve. and he admits he hates Billy Koch. I have been impressed with how Koch is improving also. I think the first games of the real season will be a time for him to get comfortable on the mound and regain his confidence. He is hitting his spots better and his velocity is on the rise. What you want from him anyway, and any relief pitcher, is outs. Koch looked ok in NY yesterday. Posada hit the only ball hard off him and Posada is a good hitter. If Billy could have made the fielding play no runs would have scored. He joked about it later and on the field I saw him shaking his head and joking about it oo. What else can you do? Melt down? He didn't collapse and neither did the Sox. Ditto can be said for Valentin, who has made some real gem type plays the first week of the season. Yesterday could have been a real bad game, but he and the team didn't let it affect them. You have to like the new attitude and the fact that 5 games into a 6 game opening season road trip we are sitting good in the Division and playing good solid baseball.

OFFICIAL GAME THREAD FOR 4/8
I watched the gme on ESPN and even David Justice thought that Shoe was getting squeezed by the umpire on that outside pitch. However, the Yankees guy got squeezed some too because it looked like the umps positioning behind the catcher was not in a good line to see the outside corner. I think that putting his first two horrendous innings aside that Shoe at least deserves a second start. However, I still like Cotts too and he did pretty well. Adkins did very well in his relief appearance.

Top of the Line-up
It wouldn't matter who was hitting #2 at this point because #1 isn't getting on base period. Jose did get a 9th inning single off Rivera today, which was nice, but the runner obviously got stranded on second because Maggs & Frank & Carlos looked bad in their at bats against him. That's why the Yankees closer is the best there is and no knock on our guys. Jose hasn't looked sharp that's for sure, but he is a guy who can carry the offense when he is hot.

Jackass Jones hit in hand by pitch
I am very glad that you added a last name to the monicker Jackass. All Twinkies are jackasses in my book so it helps when you know which one is being mentioned.

OFFICIAL GAME THREAD FOR 4/7 @ KC
Uribe grounds out. I am not certain that our leadoff hitters (Harris and Uribe) have gotten a hit this year yet. It is nice to have that leadoff batter on once in awhile.

Miggy singles. You have got to like his approach this year. He took a lot of pitches and delivered again. Batting 1.000 for the year. MVP!

It doesn't look like Crede is on top of the ball yet. Although he did get robbed in Mondays game.

I think we had more than our share of bad calls by umps last year. Doesn't seem it has changed any.

2nd wlk to Beltran. Is E LO being too cautious to this guy or is he laying off quality pitches?

Valentin just k's. Do you realize that Jose has k'd 5 times versus lefties in 2 games? I hope he gets a break pretty soon from those southpaws.

Loaiza has 31 pitches total and 19 for strikes in this game so far. I think he will be out to prove the skeptics wrong and I am happy for that.

Sox on TV
It appears that the White Sox and Yankee game on Thursday at Yankee Stadium at 1:00 PM EDT will be broadcast by ESPN. I believe that is their season opener in NY isn't it? Garland should pitch Thursday. WGN broadcasts the Saturday game from NY at 1:00 PM EDT. Probably Danny Wright going for the Sox. I don't know who the Yankee startesr are. I am thinking Mussina pitches against Buerhle on Sunday. Mussina of 0-2 fame going against Tampa Bay this year. Hopefully we can take advantage of his early troubles.
