  1. Good God I thought that was long gone...
  2. Watching this game actually makes me want to see a Lillibrige CF/Getz at 1-2 in the order. I really don't like Fields in the 2 spot.
  3. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 08:27 PM) Corky Miller has to be classified as a pleasant surprise so far. Toby who?!?.... btw...is he even playing this year?
  4. Dodged a bullet there. Let's get a few more friggin runs!
  5. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) he's shown to be a great asset on the bases, but with a bat he's been absolute garbage, i think he's being a bit (quite a bit) overrated on here He actually hit the ball on the button his second at bat and would have had extra bases if not for a nice catch by Kapler.... He'll be ok. Better than friggin Betemit...
  6. So Ozzie's gonna take the bat out of Q's hands?!? They'll just walk him...
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Nice throw by Anderson to limit the damage. Pods would have made that throw...
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) Could Quentin have caught Upton's liner? Sure seemed like he ran back for it and landed close to where he started. Seemed like he was a little pissed at himself. I thought he could have.
  9. Jesus Betemit...your making Juan Uribe look like Nellie Fox.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) PK is posting up beautifully on his swing. He looked pretty dialed in during Spring Training too. Good sign...
  11. Josh Fields looks like Jack from Will and Grace. He's actually swinging the bat like him too right now...
  12. This lineup absolutely blows. Jesus...swing the bat.
  13. Good God...how quickly the flood gates close.
  14. Tomorrow's another day. Go gettum! Crappy way to lose though... If I NEVER see a game with Bucknor behind home...fine with me. Dude is TERRIBLE! And he was bad both ways.
  15. QUOTE (Linnwood @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) That picture really disturbs me...
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) I would rather have Wise in CF than Pods both offensively and defensively. I would too...but that's not an option right now. Just boils down to: BA and Pods > BA and Owens. It's really not much more than that. Honestly...if somebody can throw out some better options than this (without getting raped in a deal)...I'm all ears.
  17. GOOD!!! I actually asked the question why not yesterday: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...70914&st=75 Tell ya what...he may not be the ideal CF...but he's head and shoulders a better leadoff option than Owens (or having Owens anywhere NEAR the lineup). And if anybody followed Pods this spring...he swung the bat VERY well and was running incredibly well. Hope he's keeping his hammy's stretched.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) I think anytime you trade a lefty (reliever or starter) who throws 95-97 MPH pretty consistently, you're stupid. The Mets learned this lesson the hard way when they traded Kazmir for Zambrano. As far as the Twins go, I give a lot more credit to their scouts/GM than to the development in the minors and Rick Anderson. They really got into a situation where they mishandled Garza (even though Garza now admits he was immature, the club has to figure out the right way to get through to a player instead of just giving in or giving up)...they didn't get anything out of Lohse or Boof Bonser, either. I'm not sure how much Liriano and Santana had success due to coaching and how much it was just pure ability/talent...Liriano hasn't shown the ability to adjust from just being a pure thrower with two dominant pitches to a "pitcher" with command of 3-4 pitches. I will give them credit for developing Silva (after he was acquired from Philly), Slowey, Perkins and Blackburn. Their track record is better in terms of drafting and development (Blackburn, I think was a draft pick in the late 20's in terms of rounds where you don't usually expect much). This was the part of his response you should have taken to heart...instead of going off on this rant...which I have no idea what direction you were going. Point being...you said all these guys who were traded that played CF...and it really has/had no bearing on BA and occured at different times. Let's not forget the fact that if the DBacks take BA instead of Young...I'd pretty much guarantee you we don't have Quentin. So I think things worked out ok.
  19. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) I guess the one thing that just irks me is the implicit notion that Brian would be better with more ML playing time (has had 600 at-bats) and yet the complete impossibility of Owens improving on his already better major league stats (was given 380 at-bats). But the thing is I'll foremost look at the player as controller of his destiny. Owens cant stick in the majors because he is a slap-hitter that hasnt proven enough as a basestealer considering his speed. There are things Anderson wasnt ever going to do, and wont ever do. Both have huge huge holes. I don't think anybody's said he'd be better...let's just give him a fair shake to see what we have. And please don't people start bringing up the whole '06 bs....two different animals.
  20. Hell...why not Pods?!? I'd take Pods and his noodle arm out there over Owens and his noodle arm anyday. At least Pods can hit. He looked pretty damn good this spring at the plate.
  21. And I'm a big Stoney fan...but I'm not not feelin' it so far. Hawk still goes off in his "Days of Lore" parade. Stoney tries to play along and seems to reel Hawk back in a little better than DJ. And as much as I'd get annoyed as hell listening to Hawk and DJ just BLAB at times...or DJ just repeating what Hawk just said...at least there was a "peace" about it. Maybe it's just Hawk. Maybe Stoney needs someone a little less of an overpowering personality to team with. Just something seems a little off IMO.
