I thought Danks slid because of his signability. Wasn't Boras his agent and he canned him? There's no way a talent like Danks coming out of a very successful UT career slides that far because of concern for his power. BS

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) I'm interested to see if he produces at all when he gets back off the DL. His stuff was very meh all of spring and the big Sox homer in me hopes that Kenny wasn't just shooting us a bunch of malarky when he touted this kids arm and that we see him make some big strides now that he's healthy (if he was in fact hurt). He was pretty "meh" in the AZ Fall League too when I saw him...

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) I sure hope my Titans find a way to beat the Cavaliers. Lets go FullertoN!!!! Didn't they save their ace for the 2nd game?....kind of backfired on them a little. ASU did the same thing...and luckily got by White. I like the Leake vs Texas matchup tomorrow.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 12:45 PM) "to dumb", eh? lol...seriously. -
Gritty win by ASU. UNC's White was great out there...but he should have been facing mostly freshman and sophomores. Spence was lights out though. Nice going into game 2 with Leake. Go Southern Mississippi!!!!!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Nope, but I'll make sure to watch out for any of our guys slated to play. We'll also make sure that before the CWS starts that we have a list of guys still playing and when there teams are scheduled to play in the CWS. Obviously I'm rooting for my Titans. Afterall, I am an Alumni. Turns out Chad Ford is also an alumni. ' Glad ASU didn't have to play Arkansas first. Ark swept ASU this year in a mini 2-game set. They're this years Fresno State IMO....

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:58 AM) ASU is the team that scares me the most. Our west coast style of baseball with the offense we have will be tough to beat. Louisville didn't know what to do with our base-running, small ball, etc philosphy. We made em look like little leaguers. Although I'm rooting for ASU...they just have so much inexperience. They start 3 freshman on the infield. Their catcher is a 1st year JC player. Two of the main relievers are freshman. Two other FT players are freshman also. They definitely rely on their pitching and defense. Just a little factoid: Johnny Ruettiger who starts most of the time is the nephew of Rudy Ruettiger (who was the football player at ND the movie "Rudy" was based on).

THE OFFICIAL SOXTALK 2009 MLB DRAFT THREAD
Wanne replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:15 AM) My belief is Sox will draft J. Mitchell out of LSU. Most of soxtalk will be upset, claiming that he strikes out too much. Then, Hawk and KW will talk about it and the comparison to Carl Crawford will come out. Soxtalk will then slowly shift to liking the pick. Was a good call though fathom.... -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) Seriously. Anyone thinking the Sox could get some big sponsorship bucks out of Vagisil? almost spit water out of my nose.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) Resorting to name calling. How mature. Are you Brian Anderson's sister? No...actually I'm his Uncle Wanne. Seriously though...didn't mean to offend. But the reality is it won't even matter when Q comes back because Pods will float out to center and Weezy will be gone and BA with be the 4th OF again. I think the argument is BA proved he could put up decent number with consistent ABs. Coming off the bench to hit here and there...he does leave a lot to be desired. And 2006 is a ridiculous analogy IMO. Not even in the same ballpark.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:26 AM) He was actually hitting in the .260-.280 range when he was actually getting everyday playing time. Unless you just want to ignore that. Actually I think he got up to .300. But let's not let a factoid like that get in the way of douche nozzles taking over the hate for BA (who clearly is the best option out there).

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 01:10 AM) Can we please stop with this tired ass excuse? Brian Anderson is a terrible f***ing hitter. That's the end of it. He's turned out to be a bust of a first round draft pick. One of many we've had this decade. Time to except that reality and stop blaming Ozzie. "OH MY GOD! IF BRIAN JUST GOT MORE AT BATS HE'D BE SO MUCH BETTER!" There's a reason you've got 4th outfielders and utility infielders. That's because those guys aren't good enough to play everyday. Which is fine. Problem is there isn't one aspect of offense that Brian is good at. He can't hit LH pitching. He can't hit breaking balls. He's got a career BB/KK ratio of 55/184. So there goes pitch recognition and plate discipline. He's got decent speed. But you can't put that to use when you're never on base. His only value to this team is as a backup OF/pinch runner. And don't give me the "change of scenery crap." How's that worked for Felix Pie? You either have the talent or you don't. And Brian doesn't have it. Wow...you sure told us. I guess you know what it's like to never know when you're gonna get consistant at bats. So you're ok with trotting Wise out there?!? Oh wait...you want to magically acquire Torri Hunter or somebody? BA's the best option out there....THAT'S what people are saying if you could get off your soap box long enough to see it. What's your solution there Kenny Jr.?!?...you seem to have a ton of answers.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) He's been robbed of a couple so far and you are right it is coming At least he has a clue up there...and a chance...unlike Fields. -
Be nice if BA got some consistant playing time....

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) Not a terrible swing by Beckham there. Hopefully he plays 3b tomorrow and Fields will DH. I don't give a s*** if he's O-fer whatever. He still has a better approach than Fields 7 days a week. f*** Josh Fields. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) Hawk with quite the rant during the pregame. I got the Tigers announcers on Extra Innings...what did he say? -
I'd just like to see this team at least once take the approach of taking pitches the other way. Goddamn...it's not Rocket Science. THAT falls on Walker and the horses*** approach most have on this team.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) It's a rebuilding year and that's ok. I'm at the point where I want to see Beckham at short everyday with Ramirez at second and Fields at third. uhhhhhhhhhh...NO!!! I really don't ever want to see Josh Fields in the lineup ever again.

it was only a matter of time... now trade for Juan...

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) Yeah......I probably should have mentioned that I made up that lineup. Beckham's playing. I was just hoping you guys would continue the outrage for another hour or so. mwhahahahah LOL....niiiiiiiiice. -
I've seen better execution by most teams in the Super Regionals that the crap the Sox trotted out there today. It's actually pretty embarrassing.
