QUOTE (RME JICO @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) Byrd is due to give up some runs after shutting out Toronto for 6 innings. Time to bring his ERA back to the norm. RME...your sig pic cracks me up. Reminds me of... =

Yeah...I could see Bradley and AJ being best buddies.

Sox vs Twins 7:10CDT CSN Floyd vs Blackburn
Wanne replied to jasonxctf's topic in 2009 Season in Review
Melton just made a comment in relation to the makeup of this team. They've had a chance at sweeping a series 5 times and didn't finish once. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) I was in favor of bringing back Jermaine or Thome for one more year, but after watching this s*** lately, just get rid of all of the old f***s, or at least as many as possible. Agreed...I'd rather watch growing pains of youthful hungry talent than these "professional" zombies...

What a lifeless s*** team.... -
I still don't understand why people automatically want to see/or think Beckham as a number 3 hitter next year (Because Hawk said so?). I don't see it for a few years... Why through him into the fire that quick. Personally I don't think he's ready. Q at 3 next year IMO.

Anybody think the Rays will decline Crawford's $10M option?
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) and they have a SS who is playing 3B that can put up an .850 OPS I've never been sold that Beckham would be a good SS at this level. Thank Josh Fields ineptness for Beckham playing 3B. Where Gordo ends up on the infield will depend on Kenny's moves...but I don't want to see him yanked around or thrown at SS for lack of a better option. He's done fine at 3rd so either just leave him there or put him back at 2B. Either way...but I really don't feel SS is where he's best suited.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) I think the DBacks beat writer said differently. I read something that said Allen was their 2010 guy at 1B off MLB.com so I imagine that's true. Connor Jackson has been their best LF when healthy so I think he'll return to that role. Byrnes and Chris Young should split time at CF/4th OF next season. Chad Tracy will be gone too which will open up more time. Edited Damn that's a ton of mediocre money spent for one position. Makes me feel better about Rios! As for Allen being traded...I honestly think it'll turn out to be a wash. If he turns out great...then super...but who knows. I'll judge it more next year. Guys like Pena and Rios I'm cutting a little slack until they start off a full season with a ST under their belt with this coaching staff and team.

QUOTE (LZPride08 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 02:15 AM) i hope the white sox give him a 1 day ontract so he can retire a White Sox I'd like to see that too. As well as Frank one day (or at least honor him in some way, shape or form).

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) Are you claiming that Walker is telling them to pull everything? I seriously doubt that. It seems more likely that guys like JD and Alexei are going up there and just doing whatever the hell they want to do. That's a player problem, not a hitting coach problem. I understand what you're sayin....but that's my problem with this. If scouting reports on the Sox say down and away with everything...don't you think it's the hitting coach's job to "coach"? I understand they're professionals, veterans and all...but if there's no input from a coaching staff in regards to hitting...what's the actual point of having a hitting coach? And if he is emphasizing taking the outside pitches (that they're probably going to get a steady stream of), the other way and they're not even trying or listening...therein lies the problem. Is it all Walkers fault. No. But goddamn...what's the point of having a hitting instructor if nobody is listening to him? But again...none of us are around them so we don't know what conversations are taking place.
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) How is Walker responsible for this lineup trying to pull everything? Is he taking their at-bats? Really? It's a philosophy. Hell...I remember DJ talking about his time with Minnesota and how it was instilled into them at the lower levels as well. Our philosophy at the plate SUCKS!
-
I'd just like to see these guys make a concerted effort to take the ball the other way for god sakes. You can tell the scouting report on the Sox...outside. Everybody and their mom can see the pull-happy crew that is the Sox. Goddamn...it shouldn't be rocket science. That's the thing I blame Walker for the most.

8/29 Thread - Sox vs Yankees - 12:05pm CDT on WGN
Wanne replied to knightni's topic in 2009 Season in Review
Well...my choices today were watching the Sox or yard work in 112º. I'm opting for yard work now.... -
QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) start printing the World Series tix! I like the Rauch move, Mahay not so much I like it too...being a Sox fan. Rauch is terrible these days...

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) I don't know if this was mentioned before but this game was lost when Rios didn't take 3rd when Quentin was thrown out at the plate. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Apparently, Rios' baseball instincts are lacking. I was a little jacked about that myself...
-
I think I'm officially out. Out meaning I think there's no friggin' hope whatsoever for this team this year. Just dumb baseball...but hey...at least Jeff Cox can tell a good story at conventions.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 09:09 PM) Beckham hitting only .238 in his last 101 AB's, but that single was clutch. Yes it was. I'm still shakin' my head though how you get 4 hits, one walk and score 2 runs?!? That pretty much sums up this season IMO. Jeff Cox is an idiot down there...
-
One out. Still anticipating a soxtalk meltdown (maybe not so much anymore).
-
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 12:55 AM) I'm not saying I'm for it...but I won't be crying a river if it were to happen. I just feel this team is in need of a major shakeup of some sort. Agreed. See: Colorado Rockies. Something needs to be done. Nobody seems to be accountable. And reading Paulie's comment about this not being football and intensity doesn't factor into baseball didn't sit real well with me either.

I didn't Paulie's triple. Did Ellsbury fall and knock himself out? -
Linebrink hurt or something era on the rise
Wanne replied to Bubba Philips's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Last night the AB for Bay that he went long on...Linebrink threw two of THE WORST floating, rolling get-me-over breaking balls. So what friggin AJ call for?...another one (that Bay hit about 2 miles). Geez-us... -
Oh I'm in...just not expecting too much and am not putting so much emotion in it anymore. I'll still watch and cheer...just not gonna let it effect my nights anymore.
