  1. CJ with a 2-run jack in the bottom of the 8th to put the Javelinas up 5-4!!!!
  2. Expensive interpreter for Lexi if you ask me....
  3. wow...well...at old comisky: 1. Somebody had a heart attack a few rows in front of us...didn't look good. 2. Some dude threw up on the lady in front of him down the 3rd base line. pretty nasty. 3. Saw a girl lose her top in the shower in CF. 4. Saw Harry bite it big time trying to get to his seat broadcasting in CF. 5. Saw Harry knock his bottle of beer out of the booth during the second game of a DH (he was usually toast by then) Not that this is crazy or anything...one game we had seats down the 3rd base line in the last row up against the railing right under the mezzanine. They had a makeshift beer vendor with about 4 fifty gallon drums filled with ice and beer directly against the railing behind us. We didn't even have to get up for beers the whole game. Good times.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) Arizona fans hate the trade just as much as most White Sox fans. Anybody who wishes we still had Allen needs to realize he was simply trade bait. That's it. You can dispute what we got for him until you're blue in the face. But he had no future with the club. If you're a White Sox prospect, you're as good as gone (obviously you have exceptions like Beckham). They're still very bitter about the Quentin trade...so they think they're gettin' the corn cob with any Sox trade from here on out.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) For people that saw Viciedo, could he pull a Carlos Lee? That's exactly what I've been telling my Dad.... He belongs in LF IMO.
  6. Why the hell wouldn't Tampa exercise their option?!? Sorry dude...it's a business. If they can get return for you they do it.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) Out of curiousity, how much of Jordan Danks have people actually seen that are saying if he is ready or not? Probably have seen him a couple dozen times the past year. I'm no scout...but that's my opinion that I don't think he's quite ready. One thing I did notice about him...when things don't go right...the body language is TERRIBLE. I think he's gotten better about it...but seriously...he gets really down on himself. He's got all the talent in the world though and I look forward to seeing him come up...but for that reason alone I'd like to see him have another year or so down and get more consistant and brush off the bad days he'll have because he will be horribly outmatched when at the dish when he comes up at first which is natural.
  8. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Ugh. We talked about this privately, but the Danks talk is getting insane. He put up an OPS under .700 in AA last year, yet people are penciling him into RF and leading off. 70 AB's in the AFL isn't going to change my mind either. Agreed. He's just not ready. Anybody think his hype is all about building up trade value? And Tony...I don't think your Jenks/Hudson/Gartrell whoever for Crawford talk is all that insane at all. Danks could very well be involved in those talks.
  9. good lord! Is he auditioning for the next Zombieland?!? His wife looks pissed about it too!
  10. Danks with a nice oppo base hit to start the inning! Atta boy!
  11. QUOTE (striker62704 @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) Byrnes , Dejesus and Murton all interest me. More Byrnes and Dejesus than Murton. Good gloves and solid bats. Both would cost ~$4mil $4M?!? Where'd that number come from? If we're really wanting to dump Linebrink I could see swapping him and still getting some money back for Byrnes. Could turn out to be a wash since rumors are AZ is willing to just dump his $11M salary. There's worse options out there IMO. He's got a lot to prove this year so might not be a bad option. Plus....he's "grindy".
  12. QUOTE (SockMe @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 12:17 AM) With Kenny saying that Pods will not be back and the Sox have now bought out Jermaine that means that for now all 3 starters in outfield from the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox are gone Persoanlly I thought that was a fun group of guys to watch! So were the '97 Bulls...
  13. Holy crap...WTF is the fascination with the friggin Royals?!?
  14. Hawk will be CRUSHED!!!! And thank God we won't have to hear anymore Gomez pie-licking on air!!!!
  15. I love lineup speculations on November 5!!!
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) not saying the White Sox would be world beaters, but I think a healthy rotation of Peavy/Danks/Floyd and MB in the AL Central would make it difficult to lose 100. Also, are we talking D with Nix to Getz? Because OBP between Getz and Nix was .324 to .308 and you get 10 more HRs out of Nix in about 120 less PAs... Nix OPS+ was 10 points higher (neither was spectacular though) and Gets RC/G was .1 higher, 4.5 to 4.4. The glaring thing is SB, Getz 25 out of 27 to Nix 10 out of 12. However, with the 10 extra home runs in less PAs, Nix actually scored himself 10 more times than Getz moving up 1 base 15 more times. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...xja01-bat.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...zch01-bat.shtml I guess I'm not all that worried about the SB factor. Being a slow team (like we have been with the plodders) is one thing...but if you bring guys in with higher OBP and can move runners and go 1st to 3rd more often the SB wouldn't be that important IMO.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) Has anyone wondered openly yet in this thread if this might allow Becks to move to 2b? I think somebody mentioned it earlier. I also saw a few suggestions of him going to SS...which IMO, AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. 2B...absolutely. It all depends what's up Kenny's sleeve (Polanco or Figgins). I seriously doubt Figgins happens though.
  18. Kenny's gotta be trying to dump some salary somehow. Throw in Linebrink and give back Callaspo and let's call it a day.
  19. That was an absolutely outstanding Q&A!!! Big time kudos. Some great questions and some great insight. I still have to go back to the veteran passiveness. I'm not saying that you need somebody in your face...but the quite somber leadership needs to get updated at some point. Yes...winning solves chemistry problems...but when you don't win consistantly what's the point. I'd really like to see a change in that area as I have the past few years. It almost gets into the whole "Lovie Smith" area with the Bears as far as I'm concerned (and that's driving me up a wall right now).
  20. For as much as I like Hudson...Polanco makes so much sense it we're serious about contending this year IMO. I don't know about you...but I got sick of facing the dude all the time as a Tiger. It's not that I dislike Getz or Nix...but Polanco for 3 years. I wouldn't mind that at all. The only people I can see having a problem are the equipment guys getting a friggin hat and helmet big enough for that planetoid of a noggin!
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4601465 Also noticed at the bottom it said the Dodge have the most potential FAs with 16. Why on earth would you appoint your wife as an executive in the first place. Did McCourt get his money from her? What a mess this is gonna turn out to be?
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 08:40 AM) I have gotten to the point where I believe that about just about every sports commentator/analyst that ESPN employs. Agreed. Anybody that employs Lou Holtz to actually speak in front of a camera really doesn't have a clue.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) Be careful what you wish for...when it's sunny and warm every day you find yourself wishing for some variation...I am actually watching the football games in the midwest longing for Fall weather... I'll second that notion. Sunshine 325 days a year and 100 degrees for 5-6 months gets really old. March is the only month I truly enjoy out here. If it's cloudy for 2-3 days in a row...I rejoice!
  24. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 02:28 AM) I could see Conor Jackson making his way over. Not really a power guy, but has a high OBP, and his three consecutive in ARZ when he was healthy his line was: .292 BA, .371 OBP, averaged 14 home runs, 71 rbi and 4 stolen bases. Can play LF and 1B. I made a post about this in the Nick Johnson thread: He's coming off Valley Fever but should be fine this next year.
